44 Weeks

Sean is 44 weeks old today. The 2nd top tooth is about to pop out, you can now see it. The first top tooth is clearly cut through, just needs to grow now. I hope the 2nd top tooth follows just as quick, so they grow out together!

Today was a rotten day but in the end was better, but still not that great. I don't even know where to begin.

The people buying my house. They are assholes. Assholes that didn't even have the human curtosey to apologize.

You see... they scheduled a house inspection for the house they are buying for 10 am. 10:15 comes. Not even my agent is here (which is okay, because he didn't have to be here on time). 10:30 rolls around. My agent shows up, but the buyers, the inspector and their agent are not here. 10:45 am, their agent shows up. We call. We don't find the buyers. We eventually reach them. They thought they were going to show up around 1 pm when the inspector was done. 1pm? From 10 am?? An inspection does NOT take 3 hours.

I'm pissed at this point.

We finally reach the inspector. He zips over from the other side of the city. He's here by 11:40 am. The buyers finally show up around 12:30pm. WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who are these people? Apparently they think the world revolves around them.

The guy buying my house, I found out today is a Rabbi. I guess he must have not liked the fact that I walked around in a TANK TOP with my tattoo on my shoulder exposed. Oops. Didn't know he was a Rabbi until after. (Getting a tattoo if you are Jewish is a sin). I'm a non-practicing Jew, so I don't follow the "laws". I eat cheese on my hamburgers. Those who keep kosher don't mix meat with milk. They have seperate plates for milk and for meat.

Anyhow, let's get back on track.

The all finally show up, and the inspection is done. The Rabbi literally tries to find stuff wrong with the house. He goes every everything with the inspector. To the point where he is pointing out bricks on the outside of the house. Uhm, the house was built in 1951... what does he expect? It's not a brand new house.

Also - the wife started bitching that my crawl space where my yarn inventory is stored, along with all of Sean's outgrown clothes, etc... is still jammed packed. You see, there is the start of "rough" in there, (plumbing) and they want to renovate it into a bathroom. No one told me that I had to clear out the room, so I didn't.

They were really rude, and started talking about renovations about taking down walls with the inspector, when he's not a contractor, but it was starting to get late, and Sean, would not take a nap with too many people around. I was getting really annoyed. They finally left around 1:30pm, but stayed outside of the house talking to the inspector.

Anyhow..... I have a 100% feeling that the Rabbi is going to try to knock down the price of the house, when it's time to lift the condition of the house inspection on the sale of the house. However, both my agent and their agent know, that I am not budging from the price that we've already agreed upon, because I'm not losing out money because they want to renovate. That's not my fucking problem.

I am so mad today, that I'm using the word fuck. I'm sorry to those who do not like that word.

I had to sit on my couch for about an hour afterwards, and let Sean crawl around the den and play on the floor, so that I could calm down.

I totally wasn't expecting an apology for the fuck up ont he time today. I know the way he is, and I knew that an apology would not happen. Though, after the sale of the house goes through - if it still does - and the notary has the check for the house, I may open my mouth, because someone has to say something. Tell him that an apology for the fuck up on the time today would have been the human thing to do, but that I see he has no class. I'll figure something out, but I'm not afraid to open my mouth to a Rabbi who thinks he's the only person in this world that matters. Honestly! At one point today, he told his agent that he "doesn't work for her, so don't talk to him like that".... (when she told him that we were sitting here waiting on them for the house inpsection or something to that effect). My mouth dropped!!!!

So now, my entire crawl space is in my basement, and there almost isn't a pathway to walk!!! And my day was wasted literally.

This evening though, in good news, I got the keys to my new house. I officially own my new house. I brought a few things over there tonight (like toilet paper and cleaning products) but tomorrow is the first official day of the move. VERY excited about that! Angela is coming over to help me move. Thank goodness for best friends! After the signing at the notaries office, my father, mother, Jamie, Sean, and my dad's two friends went out for dinner, which was really nice, but it was really chilly in the restaurant, and I've been cold all night since.

The funniest part of my new house - the Re-max agent that was selling my house to me (My agent is Century 21), lost the keys to my new house. He didn't want to show up empty handed to the signing, of course, so a locksmith changed the locks to the house 30 minutes before the signing when he realized that he lost the keys. So Remax paid for a job I was going to do myself! I'm sure he'll find the keys tomorrow. LOL. I'm going to be changing the locks again when we move out of our duplex, and put a high security lock on my new house, which we're taking from our current place, but until then the new lock on the door (backed up by our alarm system) is a-okay for me!

I've listed the December Sock Club kit on the site. There are still 3 spaces left in the November sock club for those of you that may still want it. I'll leave them open until the weekend, but please if you want - act fast! December's kit will be dyed by Dyed in the Wool Handmade a Canadian Handpainter! Also - my Hallowe'en Skull Stitch Markers are 50% off. Those also will shortly be removed from the site, so if you want them - act fast!

October 21 of 31

Today is my 2 year blogaversary. This blog started out as a way for me to document my journeys, but then turned into a knit blog and a baby blog since giving birth to Sean. Many thanks to everyone who reads my blog and keeps me going by commenting and sharing advice, opinions and words of wisdom with me. Here's to the year to come! And many many more!

The winner of my Blogaversary Contest - the person who was the 2121st commenter was.....

KRISTO!! (Kristy!)

And the 2121st comment was this one in particular! CONGRATS!
I'm a very very very bad girl. I cast on another project:

Sean's Drive-Thru Sweater. The smallest size you can make is size 2 (2 years old), so I'll make it - and he'll wear it when he fits into it, whenever that will be. You see, I got really bored with the Cabled Pullover. Well bored is not the right word. I needed a change of scenery. I'll get back to it, eventually. Hopefully before he outgrows 18 month size! I'm using Lion Brand Cotton Ease for Sean's sweater since I picked up some gorgeous colors while in Michaels when I went to Webs with my mother and grandmother to see the Yarn Harlot back in May. Wendy Bernard gives you a list of brands of yarns that you can use for this project. (Possible Yarn Substitutions: Marlabrigo, Elann Peruvian Highland Wool, Cascade 220, Lion Brand Cotton Ease or Wool Ease, Misti Alpaca Worsted, Karabella Aurora 8, Plymouth Encore; worsted cotton would also work.) So since I had the colors in my stash for the project in Lion Brand that I wanted to use (I could have used Cascade 220 Superwash), but didn't have any colors that I wanted to use for Sean in stock. I fell in love with the colors that Julia Frick used for Biscuit's sweater. I'm doing Sean's in the same family of colors because it looks soooo darn good. And ironically back in May I picked out similar colors.

I've decided that I will be frogging Sean's Tank Top. It's also with Lion Brand Cotton Ease and I DO NOT like working with it on US2 (2.75mm) and US3 (3.25mm) size needles. It is just absolutely horrible. Sean's Drive-Thru is knit on US 7 ad US 8 needles. That's more like it. Doesn't kill your hands.

I did a swap with the blogless Josee from Winnipeg. I'm sending her a ball of Regia Galaxy from my shop for some black yarn and some leftover sock yarn for the two blankies (Sean's and the girl one I hope to do when I have a girl one day). I am now after receiving the package Laura sent me) fully equipped with solid black yarn for the two blankies. Thanks ladies!

Josee sent a wonderful assortment of leftover sock yarn. Thanks again Josee. She also sent me some handmade stitch markers and earrings that she made! I forgot to photograph them though.

The open house today went great I think. There were about 8 different sets of people, and some of them really seemed interested. Now I just sit and wait for feedback/an offer. I don't know how long it will take, but I really hope to not sit with 2 properties for too ong. Since the open house ended (I stayed home and worked in my office while my parents took Sean to visit each set of his great-grandparents, and Jamie went bowling with some friends), one person stopped in front of my house and jotted down the real estate agent's number and my address, and someone else from another agent called and booked a possible appointment for 6pm tomorrow night, which is fine as long as it's 6 pm prompt, because Jamie and I have Habs tickets for tomorrow night for a 7:30pm game, and Sean's sleeping at my parents house, so we get another night to ourselves, which will be nice, even though we'll miss the little guy. So back to the open house/prospects: I think we'll be okay. I've just got bad anxiety now until we sell this house. I get bad anxiety when things stress me out. It's not good, but it's really hard to relax when I'm in this state.

There is just over a week left to buy a November Sock Club Kit. Just a reminder that the colors are absolutely STUNNING for November. I have a skein here in my office, and I'm in love. If you're only going to splurge one more time this year, this is the kit to get.

Tonight I leave you with a creation. I got this shadow box in a gift exchange at Xmas 2 years ago. I finally found something to use it for. It's my sock yarn butterflies! I plan to put it in my new office when we move:

42 Weeks

Today Sean is 42 Weeks old. On his 42 week of life he showed his house 3 times today, in order to help mommy & daddy sell the place. He also watched mommy accept the counter offer and get the house that she is in love with. It may not be 100% her dream home but it's pretty darn close. So pending the house inspection this house is ours:

I absolutely love the doors off the master bedroom that lead onto a patio. I just love that I will have a patio off my bedroom door. Right now, where I live, all I see out my tiny bedroom window is the neighbor's kitchen 12 feet away. (The width of my driveway).

This is the little park in the middle of the crescent in front of my new house. Oh, I can't wait for Sean to be old enough to go play in the park.

Providing we settle around November 1st on the house (meaning getting possession of the house and receiving keys) I will probably take Sean trick-or-treating on Hallowe'en to meet the neighbors. I think that is a nice idea.

I did a swap with Jenna and she sent me some sport weight black (Louet) yarn for Sean's blankie. I carry Louet in my shop, but not solid colors in Sport Weight. I also did a swap with Laura (which I haven't gotten yet), but she's sending me fingering weight. I cannot decide yet which will be better (the sport or the fingering) so I will decide when I am done all the squares and start on the border. But this way I have both on hand, ready to go. And the one that I don't use, will be used for the girl blankie I will start after I finish Sean's blankie. I guess that's to hoping that our next child (future not now) is a girl. Especially since Jamie only wants 2 kids and I want a boy and a girl, and since I already have my boy, I wish for a girl next.... here's to hoping it works out that way.

Thanks to Froggie Meanie, Sean now is the new owner of wooden blocks. I saw her daughter had some and I've been looking for them for a while now. Froggie Meanie let me know that Chapters.ca sells them, and I wanted to get Jenny McCarthy's new book Louder Than Words. It's about her journey with her son and autism. Even though there is apparently no proven link between shots and autism, I'm still intrigued about autism, so I will do some reading.

No knitting got done today. For the most part of the day I spent it cleaning my entire house. Laundry needed to get done, and I needed to really tidy up around here in order to show the place. I have more work to do tomorrow & Saturday before the open house on Sunday, but so far, the house is a lot more tidier. (PHEW!) I hope Saturday will be a relaxing day.

With all that is going on around here I'm resigning as Stitch Marker Hostess. I've had 5 great rounds and I am looking for someone to take over. I've made an official announcement on the blog, and need someone soon, as the Winter Swap Sign ups should commence soon. (November 1st?)

Today I managed to find time to watch the first three episodes of Pushing Daisies, the new series on TV. (Sans commercials - I hate commercials!) Anyhow, what a great show. In Episode 2, one of the main characters shows his knitting side - very cute!

October 17 of 31

Wow... Today was a GREAT day. I'm still a little shocked at the events that went down.

I got up and we got ready and we went to see 3 houses. The first house was gorgeous, down the street from the first house I grew up in, but the 2 car garage was really a 1.5 car garage and we need a 2 car garage. How do you list a house with a 2 car garage when the 2nd car must be a mini cooper or a smart car to even fit into the 2nd spot? Anyhow, a 2 car garage is a must, so that was a big no no. Also the bathroom off the master bedroom was claustrophobic and only had a sink and toilet. The 2nd house we saw was also alright, same model as the first house, however this time with no new renovations and no extension added to the house like the first house, so it was smaller, and even though the master bedroom had a shower, sink and toilet (where the first one lacked a shower), it was even more claustrophobic. Also - the street that it was one was a MAJOR traffic street and no parking on one side at all and the other side of the street had no parking Monday to Friday 9 am - 4 pm. So I would never be able to have guests over! Anyhow, not what I was looking for. Pictures CAN be deceiving - cuz the virtual tour on the listing was great. The third house.................

Oh wow.... on a crescent so there is no one shortcuting on my part of the street, so Sean will be able to play hockey on the street once he's old enough. There is a park in front of our house in the middle of the crescent. The garage is for 2 cars. Driveway is good for another 2, maybe even 4. There is a patio off the master bedroom so I can put some chairs and read knit & books outside in the summer and watch the kids (in the future there will be kids!) on the street playing. Walk-in closet in the master bathroom and a bathroom with a shower, toilet/sink, etc. The hallway bathroom upstairs like triple the size of my currenly only bathroom in my house now. There is 2 bedrooms upstairs. A GORGEOUS (almost my dream) Kitchen, a proper dinning room, a living room, a den with a wood fireplace, an office with a powder room ensuite to the office that has the washer & dryer in it. (Huge powder room!) The basement is massive and there is a side room which will house Robyn's Nest Yarn and possibly my personal yarn as well! We are going to build it up for that purpose! (You see, the new house had to have proper yarn room available!) There is soo much more to the house that I love. I can't wait!

So... we saw the house at 1:45pm. By 4pm, my agent was at my house putting my FOR SALE sign in front of my house, and singing the paperwork to place an offer on the house (the 3rd house I saw today). By 7pm, when I got out of my car to go to knitting, a counter offer was already placed, at an amount LESS than what we were going to offer next! So tomorrow, I'm singing the paperwork to accept the offer, and upon inspection (which I'll do next week), I'm MOVING! We *may* get possession of the new house on November 1st - and that is SOON! I better start getting boxes to pack!

And as far as my house I'm in now... the sign wasn't even in front of my house for 10 minutes and already I've got an appointment to show the house at 4pm tomorrow. We're also preparing for an open house on Sunday.

So... all this means, that I unfortunately WILL NOT be able to make it to Rhinebeck anymore. That, and the fact that Sean is on antibiotics for an ear infection. He's also got a viral rash that there is nothing to do for it, and it'll go away on it's own. I really should NOT take him to Rhinebeck which is outdoors, with an ear infection. He just started the medication yesterday afternoon. It hasn't even been 48 hours tomorrow (Thursday) and we were supposed to leave Friday morning. My mom wasn't too happy when she heard I was still thinking of going.

With all this that is going on around here, I am BEHIND on my blog reading and WAY BEHIND on my emails. I am checking my emails, however, I will get to them as soon as I can. I'm also working on getting the October Sock Club Kits in the mail tomorrow.

While I was out tonight, I got a new toy in the mail! My new yarn meter. Very excited to try it out. I have some yarn that has no meter or yardage info on it, it'll be great.

However, it was missing on of the clear legs on the bottom of it, so it doesn't sit straight on any flat surface. I just emailed the manufacturer, and hopefully they will be able to mail it to me as soon as possible. I just got it today, and already it's broken! Just my luck.... really!

Check this out, I'm the FIRST LINK on Vickie Howell's Blog post from today! How cool is that??

Well, I'm showing my house tomorrow at 4pm, so I will be off to bed so I can get up and CLEAN!

October 15 of 31

I had my real estate agent come today to evaluate how much he thinks my house is able to be listed for, to sell. Tomorrow I'm signing the papers, and we're putting our house up for sale! I've potentially found a place that I like - and I'm going to see it on Wednesday. I'm very excited. I can't believe Jamie's on board (earlier than our January 1st date), but if we've found a place, then we need to sell! And so, it's finally happening! The new house will be in the area where Sean will be zoned to go to the elementary school that I want him to go to, and also close enough to my parents for help (but not within walking distance - since I do want some space! Definitely bike riding distance though).

However, when we went upstairs to show my real estate agent the changes we made to upstairs (since the last time he was in there was when I was buying this place), I was absolutely MORTIFIED. I don't think they've swept since they moved in, there was dirt and crumbs all over the floor. Not only did they have that, the faucet to the tub was leaking (I thought I heard something all week) and did they bother to tell us, nope. Oh and the kicker??? An open pizza box on the kitchen table, with crusts left over, as well as 2 pieces of pizza crust under one of the kid's bed. (2 that I could see). It was absolutely DISGUSTING in there. Tomorrow after I sign the paper and place the FOR SALE sign in the window, I'm going up and telling them that they better have it cleaned up before the first open house. I am DISGUSTED. I don't care that they're messy.... it's the fact that they are PIGS. Don't forget I know that they smoke pot and their parents that signed co-signed their lease - don't. They're cleaning up or I'm threatening them with that.

Sean has a new doctor! I got very lucky. It's actually a doctor I'd heard of before, and heard good things as well. And it's a MALE doctor - so I don't have to worry about him going on maternity leave. I will be discussing with him about the flu shot. Thank you everyone who emailed or commented with their information on it - I really appreciate it. I will be emailing back everyone individually (I always email back to my comments), but it will take me a few days, it's going to be a busy next few days with listing our house up for sale!

Sean is officially on a daycare registration list which will come out this December for next September. He'll have no problem getting accepted the woman on the phone said - as there is no outrageous list (phew!) and he'll be doing the 18 month program with another baby that we know that was born 2 months after him. Glad to know another mother in that program (she's actually the one that told me about it on Saturday night at the Anniversary dinner for my father's company).

Gaz Met finally showed up today around 2pm to ignite our heat, so it's not freezing in here anymore. The past 2 days were absolutely bad. (To the point my toes were frozen), but we didn't know how to light the furnace. Last year and the year before, the guy came in the fall to do a regular servicing and started it up for us. This year..... I had to call them. Well, finally we have heat... phew! Sean had the only heater we own in his room. He of course get priority!

Well, I'm beat. I had post-natal aqua class tonight, and I'm just exhausted. We just finished watching Heroes (and I worked on Sean's Cabled Pullover). A progress photo coming tomorrow! Sean has his swim class tomorrow morning, early, so I'm going to go close my eyes. Definitely won't be any insomnia tonight.

ps- Sean wants to win this cute 18-24 month shirt over at The Laughs Will Go On. I'm supposed to link this post.

pps- for those of you curious, game one I bowled a 136 in the first game and a 105 in the 2nd game. I can bowl over 200 on the Nintendo Wii.... weird!
