The Habs Experience

BellCenter

Friday night, I got to experience the experience of a lifetime. Jamie & I were supposed to go out for dinner to celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary, and when he told me that he turned down playing on ice at the Bell Center for his teammates’ birthday, I told him that we could go out for a late dinner, is he crazy!???

When we got there, we got to go behind the scenes of the Bell Center. As a Habs fan, this was extremely amazing. (Above Zamboni Parking and where the Zamboni comes out to clean the ice).

We walked down the hallway where the “away” team gets dressed before games. That was the locker room the boys were in to dress.

The birthday boy went all out and borrowed official practice jerseys from the Habs, for Friday night’s game. He even went to the extent to get plaques made for all his friends/teammates with everyone’s first name initial & last names. This was a very nice added touch.

This was the view, before the game, behind one of the goalie nets.

(Right) This is where the Habs come out from their dressing room before games. The doors were actually unlocked and we peaked in (curious of course!) but there were nails and wood everywhere, as it’s all under construction.

The boys actually sang their own rendition of the National Anthem before the game. I recorded them singing. I need to upload it to YouTube one of these days.

My brother’s girlfriend (left) wanted to learn how to knit, so during the game she worked on the knit stitch). I got some knitting done on a gift that I will talk about later this week.

When the game was over, the boys all shook hands. And then they decided they needed to do some stretching.

I got to go on the ice. Some girlfriends brought skates to go on afterwards, however since we were going out for a late dinner after, I didn’t bring skates this year. Maybe next year if we get to do the same thing again next year. Next year I would definitely bring my skates & get on! We were 5 ladies in the 21,273 seats that the Bell Center has. (3 girlfriends, 1 wife (myself) and 1 sister of the players).

It was definitely an experience I’ll never forget. I’ve never gotten the opportunity to do something like this before, and I don’t know if this will be an annual thing that Jamie will get invited to, or not. Regardless, it was a lot of fun, and it was very awesome. No other words to describe.

A Night Out

rj2012

Hubby and I got to go out last night for a friends birthday. My parents took the kids for dinner, and we had a nice evening out. It was nice to get dressed up in non-mommy clothes, and wear my nice pink boots and wear make-up (which apparently is so natural you can barely see it in this photo). We had good laughs with new people (we only knew the birthday boy and his girlfriend). Once we picked up the kids, and got them to bed, about an hour later, I started to feel ill. At first I thought it was the wine, but Jamie reminded me that I really didn't drink that much, which I thought to begin with. Let's just say, I'll spare you the details, I definitely had food poisoning. I was the only one to eat this dish at the restaurant (and we were the only table at the restaurant). I have never eaten there before, and while we thought maybe we'd go back again sometime while we were actually still there, I don't think we'll ever be going back there again. And I'm darn glad it's not gastro, that's 10x worse than food poisoning, let me tell you!

Weekend Round-Up.

SRonbusmaplesnow

On Friday I went to La Cabane a Sucre (sugaring off) with Sean's class.

We had a fabulous time.

And the skies were blue, but the weather was cold.
The kids had a good time too.
Here's a video of Sean having fun with one of his friends.

hockeystixjukeboxboys

On Saturday we had our last skating lesson and the boys got to bring their hockey sticks. After skating, I took the boys and met up with a friend of Sean's and his family at a local restaurant. We had a good time, but it was a tad challenging to be alone with all 3. Luckily Sean's friends parents were with us, so it made it a tad easier.

Saturday night Jamie & I headed to the Habs game after having dinner just the 2 of us.
The Habs lost badly, which wasn't fun. They haven't won in 3 games.

Sunday we went to a Sports Celebrity Breakfast. There was supposed to be 4 Habs players coming however due to their losing streak, their coach called a practice that morning and they couldn't attend in the end. I was a tad disappointed as were the kids, however, they got to meet Youppi - so they were happy. They each got their Habs jersey signed by Youppi. (The highlight of their day).

KIPatmall

After Soccer I ran home to get my knitting and
then met up with my girls for Knit-in-Public Day.
Tradition has it that the last 3 years we ended up at a local mall due to rain threat.
Did it rain? Nope. But that’s okay.

KIP

We were a lovely gang, and I had a good time.

One of my friends that was with us today teaches 10 & 11 year olds to knit.
4 of them joined us today at KIP.

It was a lovely afternoon.
Did you celebrate KIP?
If so, how?

Some updates on the garden. Tomatoes, cherry tomatoes
& the lettuce/tomato/pepper patch.

bdaydinner

This evening Jamie took me out for my birthday to dinner. We went to our fave joint Cucina. We go there for birthdays, anniversaries, Valentine’s Day, you know, date night without the kids. We eat the same thing every time we go there too. Mmm, delicious! Homemade pasta. Pink to boot. (Tomato based pasta – hence why it’s pink). Loaded with cheese. Yum! I can still taste it.

ps- Just a reminder that I'm throwing a contest for this entire month! Details are here.

05.14.10 :: Yarn P0rn Friday

For today’s edition of Yarn P0rn Friday, I am going to show off the yarn that I dyed up in British Columbia. I had a bunch of yarn remaining in the house, and wasn’t sure what I was going to do with it – and so I decided to make it as one of our activities while in B.C. The girls had a lot of fun. I also had a ton of dyes that I had no idea what I was going to do with, so this was the perfect opportunity. We had named them while I was in B.C. but I cannot for the life of me remember what their names are (except for maybe one). However, I’d like for you guys to name them for me! Please leave a comment if you have any good names, for the 3 different colorways.

pinkrasp
Colorway 1 – a nice pink/raspberry shade – very tonal

2tone
Colorway 2 – a 2 tone purpley shaded duo

4skeins
And colorway 3 – 4 skeins of a rich indigo color that is hinted with some purple –
these are more solid than semi or tonal

Hoping you guys can help me name them!
For these skeins I used a Louet Gems Fingering natural (undyed) base.
50g each (185 yards).

mult
I have some progress to show you on my Multnomah. I have just a few rows left before I hit the feather & fan border. I should get to that point over the weekend. So far, it’s a super easy knit.

Tonight the kids went to my parents to have a sleepover. We had originally had plans with some of Jamie’s ex-co-workers but plans got changed at last minute unfortunately. We were really looking forward to seeing them. So instead, Jamie & I went out for a really nice dinner to a restaurant we’d never been to before (Elixor = a little pricey) and then to see the movie Iron Man 2. All I have to say is Robert Downey Jr. especially in Iron Man… oh baby. Woah! Hot! I’m not usually into comic book/action figure/hero movies, but after seeing Iron Man (1) and being asked if we could go see the 2nd movie, I agreed, only because of Robert Downey Jr…… *giggle* It’s been a while since we’ve been to a movie in the theatre together (I can’t remember the last time). Date night was absolutely appreciated.

A little link love for today:
- This ring.
- Love this photo.
- This mini Camera-Gurumi.
- This USB Tape Hub is neat! I like gadgets like this!
- Some more hot Robert Downey Jr.

feb13feblad

This afternoon Croquette had a meet-up at her house for the Knitting Olympics. I had never been to Ste-Marthe-Sur-Le-Lac, so I mapquested the directions and headed out there. After an almost half hour drive, and one stop to pick some goodies to eat for everyone, I made it.

I worked on my Feb Lady Sweater, making some progress.

It was a nice afternoon with some really nice knitters. I knew two of them from beforehand, Sandra (took a sock class with Sandra in April of 2008) & Christine (whom I used to see at NDG Knits). Also there today was Elaine, Johanne, Cynthia, & Marie-Christine. It was a nice change of pace, in a different atmosphere. It was nice to see what other knitters were working on for the Knitting Olympics! Go Team Montreal!

This evening we dropped the kids off at my parents house, and headed into the city to our fave restaurant for dinner. We went out tonight for Valentine’s Day instead of tomorrow night, since it was easier to have the kids go spend the night tonight out. Thank heavens for my parents living close-by and being able to take the kids overnight. Dinner was fabulous and as good as it was last time we ate there. It had been way too long.

Off to go work some more on my Olympic Knitting and watch some TV and enjoy the rest of our time in peace & quiet. The house will be back to it’s usually busy-ness tomorrow.
