Friday night, I got to experience the experience of a lifetime. Jamie & I were supposed to go out for dinner to celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary, and when he told me that he turned down playing on ice at the Bell Center for his teammates’ birthday, I told him that we could go out for a late dinner, is he crazy!???
When we got there, we got to go behind the scenes of the Bell Center. As a Habs fan, this was extremely amazing. (Above Zamboni Parking and where the Zamboni comes out to clean the ice).
We walked down the hallway where the “away” team gets dressed before games. That was the locker room the boys were in to dress.
The birthday boy went all out and borrowed official practice jerseys from the Habs, for Friday night’s game. He even went to the extent to get plaques made for all his friends/teammates with everyone’s first name initial & last names. This was a very nice added touch.

(Right) This is where the Habs come out from their dressing room before games. The doors were actually unlocked and we peaked in (curious of course!) but there were nails and wood everywhere, as it’s all under construction.

The boys actually sang their own rendition of the National Anthem before the game. I recorded them singing. I need to upload it to YouTube one of these days.
My brother’s girlfriend (left) wanted to learn how to knit, so during the game she worked on the knit stitch). I got some knitting done on a gift that I will talk about later this week.

When the game was over, the boys all shook hands. And then they decided they needed to do some stretching.
I got to go on the ice. Some girlfriends brought skates to go on afterwards, however since we were going out for a late dinner after, I didn’t bring skates this year. Maybe next year if we get to do the same thing again next year. Next year I would definitely bring my skates & get on! We were 5 ladies in the 21,273 seats that the Bell Center has. (3 girlfriends, 1 wife (myself) and 1 sister of the players).
It was definitely an experience I’ll never forget. I’ve never gotten the opportunity to do something like this before, and I don’t know if this will be an annual thing that Jamie will get invited to, or not. Regardless, it was a lot of fun, and it was very awesome. No other words to describe.
Sean has decided that he wants to be a goalie. (Just like his Uncle (my brother), just like his cousin (Jamie’s sister’s kid), and like a few other relatives in the family). Goalies seem to be extremely in demand. He’s been playing some games this summer, as call-ups to leagues in the area. Friday I took him mid-afternoon to goaltend for a game that was being played by a hockey camp near our house. They were missing a goalie for the game. It was my first time getting Sean into his equipment myself, and I think I did a good job!
Sean made some amazing saves, and I was quite impressed. The kids has talent. Above, I caught one of the saves he made on my iPhone camera.
Sean’s hockey season with our city team is coming to an end. This weekend is the last weekend before the summer break. Sean is already registered for hockey from April until June at another place, and will probably take private goalie sessions as well over the summer. He wants to play goalie next year in Novice. We have a family full of goalies (my brother, my nephew, etc… no wonder Sean wants to be goalie!)
Sean’s been taking turns this season playing goalie (they don’t really have set goalies in MAHG). Only once the kids get to Novice, do that have set positions. Above, Sean is in white, just in front of the net #12). Below, is from a tournament he played, when he was goalie. Sean is just an all around athlete. If he’s interested in the sport, he can play it. He just got his report card last week and again he got an A in phys. ed. (gym). (Along with 4 other A’s! And 2 B’s!) Very proud of Sean.
It’s the time of the year again, finally the beginning of the Habs Season and our flag goes up for the beginning of the season tomorrow. The first half of the season was locked out, but we’re soooo happy to have hockey back! Let the games begin! GO HABS GO!
Sean was goalie today. Every game they rotate which kid on the team is goalie. He had a BLAST! His team won 2-1. I was so proud of him, his first time in nets. He recently got moved up to the next level since he was too good for the level he was in. I'm so unbelievable proud of him. He has dreams to play in the NHL. Let's see if he can make his dreams come true!
34 weeks pregnant. 3 more weeks and baby boy is getting an eviction notice.
(Anyone got any tips on naturally inducing labor? Raspberry Tea is one...)
This morning Jamie took Sean to his skating lesson. Mack wanted to go with to watch too - so I actually had peace & quiet in the house for a good hour and a half. It was really nice, actually. After skating was over, we headed out to do a few errands, and do a little holiday shopping. I've been trying to take care of that so that I don't have to think about it come December. We're keeping the holidays simple this year. Christmas with my hubby's step-family is actually in Toronto this year, so we're not going. I'll do a little Chanukah thing with the boys, we exchange gifts with my cousin Jenn's boys, and I got something little for each of my parents and my in-laws. And for my 8 year old nephew, whom I think we'll see between Xmas & New Years if they come in - if not, I'll mail his gift to him. I'll also get something for my hubby. But that's about it. Oh and the daycare teachers, can't forget about them, their gift is in progress. Other than that, I'm not doing the holidays this year, I decided. There's no reason to with the adults anymore. There comes a point in time where it's just ridiculous already. When does it end? What are your family traditions? I also think as of next year, since it'll be my 30th, I'm stopping adult birthday gifts. I'll send out cards, but it's just getting ridiculous already. Do you still exchange birthday gifts with adult family members? I figure big birthdays are one thing (like 30th, 40th, etc...) but other than that.... when does it end?? I've been talking to a few friends about birthdays and holidays and it just seems like at a certain point, it's just not necessary anymore. It's all about the kids now. Especially since I almost have 3 of them of my own.
Mid afternoon while Mackenzie was napping (thankfully!), Jamie's mom & her wife came over to pick up Zeus. They stayed for a while until Mackenzie got up from his nap, so that they could see him too. My mother-in-law showed me the knitting she was working on (socks for my nephew) and asked me about needles & stuff, so I gave her a few pairs, so that she had some variety. She's been making tube socks for all her grandsons. (She only has grandsons). She recently got back into knitting - but used to do it years ago. We weren't sure if Sean would react when we put Zeus in his carrier and my mother-in-law & her wife left today. However, it was actually Mackenzie who started bawling for Zeus. Though, I don't think he really gets what was going on, and he wasn't a fan of Zeus to begin with - always yelling at the cat, etc. So that was odd, but he quickly forgot about Zeus once they left. I am praying he gets along great in his new home, as there are 3 other cats there.
This afternoon I actually got started on the daycare teacher sewing portion for their holiday gifts. I'm making all 5 teachers the same thing. (Sean has 3 teachers & Mack has 2). Today I started with Mack's teacher who is a huge Habs fan, so I made her items in Habs fabric that I re-purposed from a Crib Bumper we never used for the boys. (I've actually made a few things out of it already). I really hope she likes it. I still have one more item to make for her. I will blog about it all once I am done and know 100% what I am doing in full. However, I can tell you that I am super impressed with my sewing skills as of lately. I think I'm honestly surprising myself. I used to be afraid of my sewing machine, and now I have confidence. It's great. I love it.
Now I'm finally sitting here in peace & quiet. Hubby is at hockey. Kids are finally in bed (they went to bed late this evening - no idea why). After an hour of chatter in their beds and a few renditions of O CANADA on the top of their lungs (I was dying of laughter), they finally fell asleep. The laundry is going, the Habs won 7-2 over Carolina (WHAT A GAME!) and I've accidentally cast on not one, but two new knitting projects. (When I should be knitting on La Novia...). Oops.
Progress had been made on the alpaca scarf.
Tonight the hubby & I got a kid free night again. (No complaints!) We had our first habs game of the season. It wasn't bad at all sitting in our seats, though baby boy was very active the entire game. He wouldn't stop moving. I think (providing there are no complications (knock on wood)) I will attempt to go to a few more games before life with 3 children. It was a really good game to go to tonight (pre-season game), we won 4-3 against Minnesota Wild. Got to see our new back-up goalie Alex Auld in action. He's pretty good.
Speaking of life with 3 children, I'm so read. Bring it on! I've never felt so prepared in my life to be a mom of three children. Especially 3 children 4 years old and younger. I'm sure life will be challenging for a while afterwards, but I'm ready to see what life throws at me. Bring.it.on!

- Google reader. I've been slowly moving all the blogs I read in there. (I'm not doing it in bulk because I'm going through everything and weeding out what I don't need anymore or blogs that haven't updated in a while).
Today I went to see Totem (Cirque du Soliel) with my mother & grandmother. I took my mom for mother’s day. The show was excellent. The only thing that was a problem was the smelly lady sitting next to me. I had to switch seats with my grandmother and sit on the end (we had an aisle 3 seats). It wasn't even perfume. It was like soap she washed herself with or a lotion she put on or the shampoo she washed her hair with - something. Made me soooooooooooooo sick that I didn't enjoy sitting there for the entire first half of the show. (As well, this lady (who seemed to be a grandmother there with her daughter or daughter-in-law and her 2 grandkids), pulled out a little teddy bear, and started making it dance to the music, as well, she was petting it as if it were a real pet). If you have the chance to go see Totem, I recommend it. It seems to be playing in Montreal until July 11th, 2010.
This afternoon while I was out, Sean & Mack went with my sister, to her niece’s 5th birthday party. (Birthday girl is wearing black sweater). Sean & Mack are sitting on the floor in this group shot. They had a good time, and I got to put together a gift for a girl!
I made her a bead kit, personalized with her name on it.
And I filled it with beads & findings. Oh what fun! (I heard her mommy likes to bead too!) What 5 year old girl doesn’t like to bead? I know when I was 5, I used to love that kind of stuff. Beading, friendship bracelets, you know, girly stuff! I hope she likes it!
I tried washing Sean’s soccer jersey then drying it to shrink it. No such luck. I’ll have to hem the bottom of the jersey inside to “tuck” it under. Grrr. It looks like a dress on him.
Tonight after dinner at my parents house, we watched the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Philadelphia Flyers, and now I’m zonked, so I’m going to head to bed. Sean has his last swimming lesson in the morning for this current session, so we don’t want to be late!

This afternoon Sean went with my sister to my parents house to swim. Sean tried to figure out how to play hockey in their pool. I think it was unsuccessful. I was at home with Mackenzie who was napping. By the time Mack got up from his nap, the skies turned a bit dark and it rained a little bit, so we didn’t bother going over.

I was supposed to go, but gave up my ticket because we didn’t have a babysitter for the entire time of the game.
(I was actually not disappointed that I missed out – they unfortunately lost - badly).
My sister & I were going to take the kids to the fair,
but apparently they skipped our town this year.
I was really disappointed. I really wanted to take them this year.
I’ve been working on another project, that I started, to see if it would work out. It’s Babette v3. 2 round squares. I have a purpose for this. And if it works out, I will fill you in on all the details (which should be very soon). Just give me some time to sort it out, and make sure it will work out the way I want it to.

I hung out with my sister tonight, and worked on different babette versions. (Depending on which mini skein was striking my fancy to use next). We watched the movie Extraordinary Measures, and I really enjoyed it. It’s with Brendan Fraser, Harrison Ford and Keri Russell. I like that it was based on a true story. It makes the movie even that much more better & enjoyable. It was nice to have a quiet evening in, just chillin’, crocheting & watching a movie.
Jamie had hockey tonight, and was supposed to come home with a Blue Slush Puppy. He forgot. But, the awesome husband he was, he ran back out shortly after taking care of a few things at home, to get both of us one. Oh… Slush Puppies. (The blue one – my fave one). How have I miss thee over the winter months. And the weather we’ve been having, and are going to have over the next few days, slushies are definitely welcome!
Mack is 99 weeks old today.
Today my mom & I took the boys for a quick drive to Ottawa.
First we stopped at Denny’s for lunch, to meet up with my husband’s cousin & her daughter.
It was nice to see them.
We did a few errands.
(I wanted one store in specific for some items for Mackenzie’s 2nd birthday party).
The boys got some lollypops from the CHEO bear when we donated some money to the hospital.

My mom drove both ways. She said it was easier for her to drive than to have to turn around a million times for the kids. They kept asking for stuff. They kept dropping things. My mom gets nauseas in the car, so I sat in the passengers seat, and she drive. Needles to say I got no knitting at all done because the kids were constantly having me turn around. Except while they dozed off for like 30 minutes each on the way home. Though, I was so tired I didn’t bother pulling out my knitting. Tomorrow there shall be knitting.
What else has been going on? I certainly don't find it funny that Mackenzie keeps putting stuff in the garbage. Stuff that shouldn't be in there... like his bunny. Like some of the kids' toys. Do I need to lock the garbage cans? And the toilets too? (Found bunny and one of his shoes in the toilet a few days ago). Do your kids do this too? Sean went through a phase. I once found my husband’s PJ pants in the toilet.
Tonight I actually watched the Habs game but that didn’t bring them any bad luck at all. They won tonight, killing the Penguins 5-2. Onto the next round for my Habs! GO HABS GO! I can’t believe it! What a game.
Now I’m heading to bed and want to read a bit more in the book I’m currently reading :: The Yoga Mamas. I think I’m about 9 chapters in, so far it’s not bad.
Got to work today on Multnomah. She’s growing!
The color is not one I’d normally choose (greys/blues) but for some reason I was drawn to making a deep colored shawl to match my grey jacket. This seems like it’s going to be a quick knit.
I am kind of stuck on the 5 hour sweater. I got to the point (like I mentioned last night) where I need to do the garter ridge edging on the bottom of the sweater. Though, I feel that the body is too short, so I’m just debating how much more to knit before finishing it off with that garter ridge edging. I will pull out the Baby Surprise Jacket that I knit for Mack and measure it up against this sweater. I just don’t want the sleeves to be longer than the sweater, which is what it is now actually. If you place the sleeves downwards, they are longer than the sweater. The BSJ is knit 0-3 month size as well. Should hopefully it’ll give me a good comparison for length.
And the birthday cake was just “WOW”. I love what can be done with fondant.

While at the birthday party they had the Habs game on. We unfortunately lost, but a couple of times during the game they showed a girl knitting behind the Penguins bench in front row. (You can see her hands knitting). I couldn’t believe it! I’m not the only knitter who knits at Habs game! There are others in other cities!!! I did some research to find out that it’s the “Knitting Lady” and she’s on Ravelry! You can learn more about her here & here.
