Rain, Rain, Go Away…

Quentin has taken to his dalmatian blanket. I don't even know the real name for these things, but Sean has his Nunu and Mack has his bunny. (Aka a blanket with a head in the middle of it) Q's been sleeping (cuddling, see left photo) his. I got a new sling while I was pregnant with Quentin, and I'm finally using it. It's different than the other slings I'm used to - it'll take some getting used to, but I like it. And Quentin loves it too.

Quentin's mastered flipping himself from stomach to back and back to stomach. He is a stomach sleeper (due to his Laryngomalacia) and in the morning he has been flipping himself to his back to play in his crib until I come in and get him. He's been doing it all and today I finally caught him flipping from stomach to back... (not on video though).

Quentin brought his older brothers some chocolate last week and they really enjoyed eating it.

We spent the weekend hanging out, while fighting some colds and upset stomachs. The upset stomachs seem to have recovered, and we're still battling some colds. Hopefully the runny noses will stop soon. We've also been hiding out from the rain... They're calling for more rain too, sigh.

- Mack turned 151 weeks old on Thursday, May 12th, 2011. I can't believe he'll be 3 years old in a month & a day. Since it's the 16th today, my "big" birthday is in exactly 4 weeks, and I'm starting to really freak out now.

august thirty

Today I decided to wear Mack for a bit. He loves being in this position - and loved being able to use his head. He's got great neck control for almost 11 weeks old. I'm certainly very impressed. I'm encouraging his tummy time now, or the use of his head/neck while he's sitting up. I should be able to get him to sit in the bumbo seat in about 2 weeks when he's 3 months old. That's when I started using the bumbo with Sean, who also had great control of his neck early on.


Sean enjoyed being in the country. He got to check out a bike (with some help as it's too big for him), and I'm thinking it's time to get him a tricycle!

He had help on the tire swings. My sister-in-law's boyfriend (who is pictured in the photo), built the tire swing set himself. Very creative guy.

Mack & I hung out in the back yard in the shade of course....

I'm not really happy that I got bitten by bugs (not sure if it's mosquitos or other bugs) but I certainly got bitten this weekend and I'm hating it.

I got some knitting done. I started some crazy ass socks yesterday.

Yeah, crazy. They're crazy because they're made up of leftover sock yarn bits. (The tiny bits that have no use after they've gone into my blankie project already). I'm insane because I am saving just the same amount of leftover bits for the 2nd sock - so they match. Though, what I didn't think about, but probably should have... is the ends. Anyone have any tips for weaving in ends into stockinette stitch? I'm good at hiding ends into ribbing (which won't be an issue for the top part of the sock, but the rest?) I probably should have thought this through first.... Though, I do have to admit, these socks are pretty darn cool.

Mack hung out with his cousin today.

Sean had his first Mr. Freeze ever.

He enjoyed it. I didn't enjoy the mess it made.

There was lawn art to be enjoyed.

As well as smiling babies in their sleep.

There was hockey (and basketball) to be played.

And chickens to be chased.

My sister-in-law has 2 chickens (Propre & Poulette) and 1 Rooster (Etoie).
She has 2 eggs fresh every morning.

Poulette seems to be an alcoholic. She enjoys a nice glass of Sangria. Apparently me catching her in my sister-in-law's boyfriends drink isn't the first time she's had alcohol. Funny funny chicken!

This evening I dressed the boys again in matching pj's. I just love it. They're so cute together.

Last night was brutal. Sean woke up each time Mack got up during the night. BRUTAL. BRUTAL. BRUTAL. I don't think we'll ever go away again sharing a room all 4 of us until Mack's sleeping the night in full. It's just not possible. And on top of it, my sister-in-law's bed (where Jamie & I are sleeping) has got to be the most uncomfortable bed I've ever had to sleep in. The mattress is hard as wood. It's a tiny double bed, and a paper thin mattress that is just not comfortable. I just don't understand how she can sleep in that bed. I'm definitely recommending to my father-in-law, that should he need to get his daughter a gift, that a mattress might be a good idea. (Unless she actually likes to sleep in discomfort?)

Anyhow, I'm a walking zombie today, as last night's sleep was brutal. I'm expecting tonight's to be no better. And that's why we're cutting our trip in the country short, and coming home tomorrow instead of Monday. It's just not happy sleeping, so why stay another night? My neck is killing as is my back. Not fun. Not pleasant. Not a way to spend a relaxing weekend.

july twenty

This morning we left bright and early and headed out to Granby Zoo.

A lot of the animals were sleeping today, which was funny because it wasn't hot at all. It actually was my "perfect" temperature for being outdoors. I hate the heat/humidity. They were calling for 90% rain all afternoon. It drizzled for like 2 seconds some point mid-afternoon but was clear (but cloudy) the entire day otherwise. (Above Sean is with his cousin Merlyn, Andrea's son). Last time I was at Granby Zoo, with Merlyn he was 2 and a half years old. (He's turning 6 this November). It was hot and muggy when we went, and the animals were actually out. Weird!

Mack slept in the stroller for the morning, but after lunch I wore him because he didn't really want to go back into the car seat. I don't blame him. He slept quietly in the sling for the rest of the day. He was very comfortable to wear! I am actually really enjoying the SlingRider sling.

Sean was sooo exhausted from the zoo he slept the entire hour and a half car ride home. (I'm very happy about that!) Jamie had a ball game tonight, so he pretty much ran to his game upon getting in from the zoo, and I made dinner for everyone (my sister-in-law & nephew are staying with us until Tuesday as they live about 3 and a half hours away from us). It's nice to have them here - it's been a while.

So happy the weather held out today and we got to spend the day at the zoo! It was a lot of fun!

june twenty-four :: Mack 1 Week Old

Today is a holiday in Quebec, and so Jamie was off from work. (Mack's arrival is really good timing with today's holiday and Canada Day next week, since I need all the help I can get in the house, since I cannot lift Sean for 6 weeks due to having a C-section). So we packed up Mack in my Sling Rider (been dying to try it out) and we headed out to the park.

Mack was all cozy in the sling, I just loved wearing him. I got a bunch of new slings this time, so I cannot wait to try them out. It's really too bad that Sean is way too heavy for me to wear. He's just about 25 lbs now. Doesn't Mack look cozy also in his Baby Surprise Jacket that was made by his mommy? xoxo

We took time in our front yard to smell the roses.

And check out some new flowers that are blossoming.

We had fun at the park up the street from our house. Jamie got into the sand box with Sean, he just loved it (I think they both did!)

Sean had to test everything out in the park. Without fail, he loved everything!

Even Jamie got to try out some of the toys in the park! Boys will always be boys, eh?

Yesterday I received a bouquet of flowers from a friend of mine, Sherrie. I was a little confused at first because the card read that it was from "Cherry".... Thank you Sherrie, they are beautiful. I have them in the dinning room. The little vase it came in is really cute. I'm glad I get to keep it!


Mack is 1 week old today. Just like I did (and still do!) with Sean, I plan on doing weekly self-portrait photos with both my boys. Sean's weekly photos are on Friday, and Mack was born last Tuesday, so he'll get his photo take with me in the mirror on Tuesdays. I was just looking back at Sean's 2nd week photo, ahhhh, does time fly. I only started to think about doing self-portraits with Sean when he was 2 weeks old. But I have PLENTY of pics from his first week anyhow, I'm not worried!

We hit our first milestone today, Mack lost the stump from his umbilical cord! Woohoo! Finally! Now hw can get proper baths instead of sponge baths.

A while back I won a gift certificate from Jenn for a contest she held on her blog. With that gift certificate I ordered 2 knit books. I got Knitalong: Celebrating the Tradition of Knitting Together by Larissa Brown and Toilet Roll Covers by Pat Ashforth. Thank you Jenn! I just remembered I'd forgotten to share what books I'd gotten from the prize!

And from my brother for my birthday, I got to pick out Lace Style & Wrap Style. (I already own Scarf Style) to complete the collection of those books!

And from the hubby, in addition to my iPod touch that I got for my birthday, I received Knit So Fine: Designs with Skinny Yarn by Lisa Myers.

SP12 Question of the Week #2: As a kid, what did you look forward to most about summer vacation/break/holiday?

As a kid I used to look forward to not having to do homework anymore. I hated homework and school work, etc. I also went to camp for years, and used to look forward to attending that and seeing my friends (whom I didn't go to school with!) And the summers that I got to travel, that was even better!

I'm beat. Feeding on demand is draining me! I will post more tomorrow.
