december twenty-four

Today we all got a late start to the day. Jamie worked at home in the morning, and I putzed around with the boys. Eventually, I got my act together, left Mack at home sleeping in his crib and took Sean for a few hours to daycare. There weren't many kids at daycare today, but I had a few errands to run, so I decided to drop him off, rather than leave him at home to bug Jamie, who was working from home, then running into the office for about 2 hours once I got back.

I had to go to the post office as I had a missed package slip waiting for me. I also had to mail Sean's thank you cards from his birthday party. The cards are actually post cards that match the invites - how cute. Though, the missed package wasn't there yet. Dang it! Dying to know what it was!

So I went back home and played with Mackie, who just got this Fisher Price Baby Star Stage for Chanukah from my parents. He absolutely LOVES it. He has tried it out before, one of his friends at playgroup owns it.

After playing for a bit, I remembered that I had a santa outfit for Mackie - that he would have worn on Christmas day, providing we'd been in Toronto at Jamie's step-brother's house for the whole Christmas thing. I got this outfit last year right after Christmas on sale, by then, I was about 3-4 months pregnant. I figured if we were having a boy or girl, they both could wear the sleeper (there is a girl version out there with a dress, etc, but the sleeper could work for either sex). So, I did a little photoshoot today, since there was great lighting and peace &





He may shoot me one day for taking these pictures, but gosh darn it - aren't they adorable??!

This thumb in the mouth thing while he sleeps - I hope that doesn't mean the start of thumb sucking. I cannot get him to take the pacifier, he just spits it out - though sometimes I just wish he'd take it. But I thought this picture was too cute.

There has been some knitting today. It's all white and pretty outside. I worked on one of the front sides of the Moss Block Cardigan I'm trying to finish before 2009. (I can do it!)

This afternoon one of Sean's friend's mommy stopped by to drop off Sean's birthday gift. She was supposed to come to the party with her daughter on Sunday, but ended up accidently getting burned with tea on her leg, so Sean's friend Shayna (the only girl invited to his party! He goes to daycare with her - and apparently they are partners in crime at daycare). Her leg is okay, thanks to a doctor friend who prescribed her a cream antibiotic for her leg, but Shayna's grandmother ended up bringing her to his party, with no gift, because of what happened. It was really nice of her to bring over the gift, though, totally not necessary. Anyhow, we ended up standing by my front door for over an hour chatting. Had I know that we'd have spent that long chatting, I would have invited her in for tea/coffee. It was really great chatting with her though, we talked about the daycare, and other things. Her daughter is 2 days younger than Sean. We realized that we had no idea what time it was and that we had to be at the daycare to pick up the kids before 4 pm. It was 3:30. So she dashed to daycare, and I as well.

On my way home, after picking up Sean, I stopped by the post office again to pick up the missed package. This time, it was there. YEY! It was my Single Sock Swap from Bertha who blogs here. I will blog about it tomorrow - when there is enough daylight to photograph it. WOW! Bertha - I love the socks. And the rest of the package is just fabulous. I'll have to show you tomorrow - I love everything Bertha - Thank you again!

This evening we kinda did a "little bit of this & and little bit of that" for dinner... nothing special. Kinda missing out on Christmas dinner if we'd been in Toronto (Mississauga) like we were supposed to be. Drats. Oh well, Mack's health is more important.

Sat on the couch this evening, worked on the Moss Block Cardigan, and watched episodes of Season 1 of The Big Bang Theory. I liked Johnny Galecki back when he was on Roseanne. I also liked Sara Gilbert on Roseanne, and she's been in a few of the epsiodes as well. I'm a huge Chuck Lorre fan, he's the Executive Producer on the show, and I like Two and a Half Men, which he also produced.

Going to now and figure out what to do about a Christmas tree, since I have a lot of presents for all my boys and no tree. (I didn't do anything about it, since usually we are either at Jamie's step-brother's house in Mississauga for Christmas, or at Jamie's step-sister's house not far from us where there is a tree. Every year it's rotated Montreal-Toronto-Montreal-Toronto, and this year it's Toronto. I have some ideas, and I'll just have to be creative.

december twenty-three :: 27 weeks old

Mack is 27 weeks old today.

Today was also a really good mail day:

First up, I received Scout Swag in Zulu Knitty. I'd been eyeing this colorway forever, and Karen agreed to swap with me. Thanks Karen!

I also received some stitch markers made by the lovely Carolyn in another swap I did. Aren't they just lovely? I love the little "knitted" balls! A great way to jazz up my knitting!

We were supposed to leave tonight to Toronto (Mississauga more specifically) for Christmas, to Jamie's step-brother's place, but due to the fact that Mack can't be around other children for 48 hours, and on medication for the week, we cancelled our trip, and we'll be doing Christmas just us in our cozy home. Though, I have no tree, and a ton of presents, I have to figure out what I'm going to do. I'll think of something. I have time. If we would have been in Toronto, we'd have had a tree there. Hmph.

Tonight I made some delicious salmon for dinner, with some yummy side dishes. (Whole wheat fusili that was really good as well steamed broccoli. Mmmm!) We need to start eating a lot more fish, it's so healthy.

Picked up some last minute gifts today, though, I'm not 100% done my shopping. I'll probably finish it up next week. (Some gifts that are not needed today/tomorrow/this week).

Started working on one of the front panels for the Moss Block Cardigan. I think it should fit Mackie now if I finish it asap! So I'm working on it! He's just just starting to fit into 6 months size clothing now, and the sweater is supposed to be size 6 months, so it should fit him pretty soon. Hopefully!

It's my step-mother-in-law's birthday today. I plan on making her the Modular Striped Vest, and she knows it'll be a little late. Though, I don't expect it to be a long knit - it should go pretty fast. It's actually a pattern that I wanted to knit for myself, but we'll see how it goes when I knit it for my MIL!

Off to go watch tv with Jamie, but I suspect I'll fall asleep on the couch.

december twenty-two

Mack is sick. He's been hacking up a lung since last wednesday, each day getting worse. His doctor is on vacation, and his 6 month check up is not until next Wednesday. I spent two hours today at the clinic near my house t with Mack after going there and booking an appointment (which I didn't know I could do), and thank heavens I was able to see a doctor that I knew. (Sean took music classes with his son back in the winter/spring earlier on this year). I had gonei n the morning to the clinic and was given a 1:40pm appointment time. It was about 11:30 when I left, so I went home for a bit, and then back again. Mack was seen in good time, not that long of a wait, and a resident doing a stage saw him first. She diagnosed that it was a cough/cold that was virul, and the best thing was for him to have an inhaler. So, she did a test to see if it helped, and if so, he'd be going home with a prescription for an inhaler and the inhaler dispencer and I'd have to fill it at the pharmacy. After being seen by the doctor, and confirming this was a good idea, the test began. We gave him 2 doses of the inhaler. We had to wait 15 minutes in the waiting room, to see if it did an improvement. The 15 minute wait turned out to be like 25 minutes or so, because she was seeing another patient while we were waiting, not to waste time. I was told to try to feed him, but after making him a bottle, he wasn't interested, as he was more interested in watching all the kids running around the waiting room, and cooing at them. We went back in to get checked, and it kind of improved a bit, so she decided to try one more dose, and we'd have to wait another 15 minutes to be seen. This time, the wait was longer than the last "15 minute" wait. That's fine, I don't care. After being seen again, it proved that it helped, and Mack was breathing easier, and better. So on my way home I filled the prescription for the inhaler, and the Aerochamber, and I'll have to give it to him every 4-6 hours while he's awake for about 5-7 days. If he's not better in a week, to bring him back. Poor kid. I just want him to feel better. He doesn't like the Aerochamber though, he fights it when it's over his mouth/nose.

Sean had 2 real phone convos with my mom today (and one the yesterday with my father-in-law). He's never had a phone conversation before. He's taken the phone before and listened, but never really spoken. Today's two conversations went like this: (I only heard Sean's side)

Sean: Hallo.
My mom spoke.
Sean: Happy. (Meaning Happy Birthday).
My mom spoke.
Sean: Ok, bye.

And then later this afternoon he called her back.

Sean: Hallo.
My mom spoke.
Sean: Happy happy.
My mom asked him a question.
Sean: Yeah.
My mom asked him another question.
Sean: Yeah.
My mom asked him yet another question.
Sean: Ok.
My mom spoke.
Sean: Ok, bah bye.

It was cute. I've never seen him talk on the phone before.

It's my mom's birthday today, happy birthday mom. I'm glad Sean was able to call her and wish her a happy birthday.

This evening we went for dinner to celebrate December birthdays and we had a good time. Sean likes this new Elmo music player that came with one of his birthday presents. He was very busy changing discs during dinner.

And Mack got to sport his My First Chanukah Bib. It's a little big on him (Sean was almost a year old when he got to sport it last year).

And Mack is just too cute in his snow suit. I must take a picture with a better angle of it, it's just the cutest thing on him.

Mack is such a big boy in the high chair! It's his first time sitting in it.
Oh my, he's growing up too fast.

We went back to my parents house to have cake & give presents for birthdays/chanukah. The boys got spoiled rotten from everyone. We finally gave my mom the dog we got her from Amelia Makes Art. Even Bosco liked the replica of himself. Here's the dog in detail:



I'm glad my mother liked it! We had to order it MONTHS ago (processing time on these is about 16 weeks), and we've had it here for 2 months already, (we ordered it back in the late spring to make sure that we'd get it on time). I'd seen her stuff on Martha Stewart and thought it would make a great and unique gift for my mother! It did indeed.

I received today in the mail, Wollmeise in Am Kalten Polar, from a swap I did on Ravelry. I love the colors, which are hard to see in this photo, but it's blues & purples.

december twenty-one

Sean's 2nd birthday party was today. First to arrive was his cousin Oliver. (Who is 4 months older than Sean). We don't get to see Oli & his parents often, but it's fun when we do!

We had a Sesame Street puppet theater perform for the 5 kids at the party. There were supposed to be about 12 kids (and all their parents too), but there was a HUGE storm today, and the weather was nasty. Some kids also got sick over the weekend, and were hoping to feel better by today, but weren't.

Sean absolutely LOVED that Elmo was in the show.

Sean wanted to give Kermit a kiss.

The kids had a great time playing with bubbles.

Then Elmo came out:

Sean couldn't believe that Elmo was there. He even showed Elmo his book to make sure that was really him. It was priceless.

Sean was giddy with excitement.

He just wouldn't let any of the other kids see Elmo, and wouldn't let him leave.

Elmo stayed for cake time (thanks to Nana for making the cake!)

After everyone left, Sean got to open his birthday presents. (His fave I think were the Elmo slippers from Jamie & I).

And Mackie wanted to help open gifts.

Tonight's the first night of Chanukah, so we lit the candles tonight.

We want to wish everyone a happy chanukah!

Sean's birthday party was a success, and Elmo was a huge hit. (I was sooo scared that life size Elmo would freak the kisd out). Sean didn't nap today, maybe he was too excited for Elmo coming to his party, so I'm super glad he's in bed now. I've got to go give Mack a bottle on the couch, and probably fall asleep with him, I'm that tired from today. Jamie's out at the habs game tonight, with my brother. GO HABS GO!

december twenty

Yesterday I treated myself to some Koigu on behalf of my husband for the holidays. Ariadne carries Koigu and it's just delicious.

White visiting MollyAnn I also got this knitting notebook, it's just too cute and a great size to fit into my knitting notions pouch. (Which I'm in the middle of finalizing).

Mack's been coughing since mid-week - and at times in a really cranky mood. But I caught him today in a good mood mid-afternoon, so I took advantage to take some pictures. (I also don't feel so hot today, woke up with a very sore throat, and just feel blah, hopefully it'll pass).

Today we took care of a lot of things around the house - to prepare for Sean's birthday party tomorrow. One of the things on the list was to take down Sean's blinds in his room and put up his new curtains. I found this material and viola - he's got all the Canadian hockey teams on his curtains. He loves it. He keeps bouncing around, screaming "hockey"!

I also have pictures to show you of the back of the Moss Block Cardigan. Now to cast on the front! Looks like it'll be a quicker knit than I thought. (Just got side tracked while knitting it)

This evening while Jamie went to hockey, I prepared all the Christmas/Chanukah/Birthday gifts into the den, and started wrapping.

Today I put in stock this beautiful Yummy yarn by FibraNatura. Oh, it's delicious. Gotta love sock yarn, right?? (I think sock yarn is about 90% of my personal stash!
