April 23 of 30

This morning I headed to the west island, and went walking with my friend Debra. Debra and I met in the pre-natal aqua class. We've kept in touch. Our boys are exactly a month apart. We both delivered exactly 2 weeks early, and our experiences were almost identical (forceps and all!) Look at Sean trying to hold his own bottle!


Above is baby Noah - my friend Debra's son. He's got quite the THICK hair on his head. I can't believe how much hair he has compared to Sean's lack of hair! (And Sean has some hair!)

We had a good time walking over to the Market for lunch. It was really humid out - I can't believe how warm it was today. A week ago we were in winter jackets due to SNOW and today - tshirts and sweat! LOL... The wind made a great resistance against the strollers for a nice workout. I'm pooped!

Tonight I went to my post-natal aqua class and surprisingly there was not a single pregnant woman there (it's pre&post natal together). Just myself & Marie - who had a baby boy 10 weeks ago, named Asher (I like that name). Asher actually slept the entire time during our class in his carrier, and when I left after the class, Marie took him out for a dip in the pool. I have set up a private lesson on the 8th of May for Sean to go into the pool. I want to "learn" how to properly take him in the pool and what to do with him while in the pool.

This evening Jamie & I caught up with the last 2 weeks of Lost. We watched tonight's episode of Heroes, and I'll download 24 tomorrow. (We're still 2 weeks behind on 24, and as of tonight, 3 weeks behind!) (Life with a baby! All good!)


While watching TV, I finished up Square number 7, which I did cast on last night, and I then started square number 8. Square number 7 is Regia in Canadian color 4744. I really love the color, enough to want to buy some for socks for me! I'm loving the shades all together!

What's on tap for tomorrow? Knit up some more squares, and I'm thinking of the size for Sean's blankie. I think 8 squares wide will probably be good. I will then start joining them together. It's just a blankie for Sean. I do plan on making a bigger version of this blankie for our den... but that will be after Sean's "blankie" is done!

I also plan on perhaps walking over to the library near my house and joining. Also - perhaps running a few errands (Sean's bundle me zipper busted, and I want to see if I can exchange it - or if not, just get the zipper fixed. It should NOT be busted after 3 months of usage. The JJ Cole Bundle Me seamed to be a good brand - so I don't know why it busted.

What else... Hmmm.. got some things around the house I could do... so maybe I'll get to that. Oh - and sleep in! That's a must! And maybe get some reading done in the book I'm currently reading.

I did get some mail today, I'll blog about that tomorrow. (Punk Girl Rock arrived - Thanks Melanie! As well as some mail from a friend we met on our honeymoon!)

Alright - off to bed! Must go cuddle with Jamie!

ps - I've heard that some people started receiving their April Sock Club Kit from Blue Moon - does that mean mine will arrive soon? I'm an international participatant - hopefully I'll get to see what's coming shortly! Whoohoo! I can't wait to see what the next colorway is... (Yeah, I'm BAAAD, I have NOT yet cast on my February shipment yet for 2 reasons. 1 being I have too many WIP's right now, and 2 - I'm kind of not fond of the pattern that was given - and while people are having troubles with it - I need to find a new pattern to do it in, so I'll do it when it's right. Promise!)

Sean loves being on his changing table. Here is a happy baby after a clean diaper is put on!

This evening my sister straightened my hair while we were at my parents house for a BBQ. Mmmm Steaks! Anyhow, I feel like a million bucks with my hair done!

So much so that I took a 16 and a half weeks self portrait with Sean! I know I usually do this on Thursdays, but I couldn't resist!

Upon returning home from my parents house, Sean fell asleep in my arms after half a feeding.


And I got to finish Square number 6 for Sean's blankie. Number 7 has been cast on. I am not sure what this yarn is - and cannot remember where it's from. If you recognize it as your leftover donation - please let me know (Kadi - was this from you?? A few locals SNB'ers in my group donated some yarn, which I forgot to photograph... oops!) I apologize! For some reason - the purple in this yarn does not bother me. Is purple starting to grow on me as a color? Hmmm! (I dono!!)

Here is a shot of my 6 squares together... Looking quite spiffy! I'm going to do a few more, and then decide how wide I want to make the blanket, and then start joining squares! Joining of squares will probably happen sometime in the next week.

Today I got together with Angela. We set fort for some craft shopping & also some crafting as well. First we went to a wholesale bead place called Club Bead Plus. You literally buy in bulk there. Some of the prices were outrageous, but if you think about it - it's sooooo worth it for the quantity you purchase. Like almost 300$ for some beading wire (like in those stitch markers I got the other day), but you get 1000 feet. (I purchased 3o feet for 3.49$) the other day. 33 goes in 1000 = 33. 33333333 times.... so that's 3.3 x $3.49 = 116$ or so - so actually how is that worth it? Hmmm, weird. Maybe it was a different guage? Anyhow, they are a small shop (was expecting bigger), and they are located on Cremazie Boulevard on the service road of the Trans-Canada Highway. You need to buy over 100$ worth of stuff to get membership, or you get regular price. I only bought 1 package of 1000 crimps so I got regular price (which was like 13$ with tax). Not bad for 1000 crimps compared to Omer DeSerres or elsewhere.

Then we ended up in the West Island at Extreme Pita for lunch. I love their Bruchetta Pita on Whole Wheat. Mmmmm Feta! (Angela - you forgot the feta in my fridge!) Too bad there isn't any Extreme Pita's near my place - I love their food! So healthy too - and right on for my "diet".

Then we checked out Beadsbilles which is on Boulevard Gouin. Uhm, yeah, they suck. They have no stock and they are kind of pricey. Wasn't worth the visit - but how were we supposed to know. They were tiny! So much so that with other people shopping in there, there was not enough room for me & the baby carrier.

Here is Sean being patient while mommy & Angela eat lunch. He was such a good boy.

After the bead place we went to Walmart near my house, Angela wanted some material to make a bag, and I checked out some clothing. Didn't try anything on, so I have to see what fits, and what if anything needs to go back. We were there until closing.

Here is my system for knitting up the mitered squares. I have a checklist that I use for each row - or I never remember where I'm at. (Knitting A.D.D.!) This way, I know where I am. Yeah - don't ask - I do not know why in earth I'm using a PURPLE marker? Maybe it's because I need a new set of markers, and purple is the only one that hasn't been used because I hated purple? And never end up using that color?

Here is a start to 1 mitered square. I like the way the colors started. But then, there was an overload in the maroon color department:

I stil like the way it turned out in the end. I believe this is a Regia Colorway? (I'm emailing Caroline who donated this sock yarn to find out) but it's definitely an overload in the maroon department!


I actually have another square to show off today. I managed to finisht he one above, plus this one! This is leftover bits from Maureen in my SP10 group and I've already emailed her to find out what yarn this is - if she knows. Sean's blankie now has 5 squares. I haven't decided how wide I'm going to make it yet.

Tonight after Angela left, Jamie & I caught up on last week's Entourage & Sopranos, which I had to download because of our dish being down due to nasty weather (It's funny that last week it was snowing and our dish went down, and this week it's gorgeous weather, so much so I was out in a T-SHIRT today! What's with this weather!??

Anyhow, I'm off to bed. And I'm sleeping in tomorrow!

I got these awesome stitch markers in the mail this morning from Miss T. They were a thank you for hosting the Stitch Marker Swap. (Wow - Knitters are too kind!) I love love love them!

I also got some leftover sock yarn from Maureen in my mailbox this morning. I am loving these colors and they will look fabulous in Sean's blankie!

Today upon returning from lunch (and doing a return to Walmart), I went for a walk with Sean. When I took this picture, he was asleep.


I went to the post office to mail an Etsy order, and then sat down in the park and worked on a few rows of a mitered square. Sean woke up while I was there.

This is us upon returning home from the walk. Sean was just too cute in the Snugli. I think he liked being in there. It was such a gorgeous day. I was in a long sleeved shirt and a sweater, Sean I had in a long sleeved onesie with a sweater on top, and seat pants, socks & his Robeez. I swear he was sweating when we got home. Especially with his fleece hat (Montreal Canadiens hat!) It was our first walk ever. It was really nice. I hope this weather keeps up all weekend long!

We were pooped from walking, so we took a nap together on the couch. I had no idea this photo was taken until I dumped my memory card onto my PC tonight!

I love that the light in my den with my hideous pink blinds/drapes whatever, cast a nice color onto us when the sun is in just the right spot. Upon waking from our nap, I took some photos. I love this little guys toes!

And I love this shot. It's just very funky. I also didn't know it turned out like this until seeing it on my PC. I like the light spots the sun cast!

So I've been debating on how to "package up" my stitch markers. This is one idea that came to me, I was given some of these tags from Lindsay. Anyhow, I wrote out my Etsy shop name on them, and tied some stitch markers onto them. Not sure if this is going to stay as my solution, but it's definitely a possibility.

And once they're all packaged up, I slap on a MADE IN CANADA sticker (because hey - they were made in Canada!) and they're ready to be shipped. (This is one of the orders I mailed out today of personalized name stitch markers).

I also took a ton of photos tonight with some fun candies. The photos have been loaded into FLICKR in this set here.

And today I received the order of 20 skeins of fingering weight superwash wool sock yarn that I ordered. Once I find the time, I am going to endeavor into dying! Stay tuned for my very own line of sock yarn in my Etsy Shop! I can't wait. Look at me - Miss Entrepreneur!

I'm sitting here in pain still. I stabbed my toe on the couch that Jamie has not yet thrown out but should have. It's in the way. My toe was gushing blood. I've cleaned it, bandaged it, and have tried to stay off of it tonight. Took care of a ton of stuff in my office (couldn't see my desk- but now I can!)

Tomorrow Angela's coming over and we're going to go knitting in the park - it's supposed to be GORGEOUS out tomorrow! I hope so!!

Sean's been sleeping since about 7pm. I think it's time to wake him, feed him and let him sleep through the night... he's been sleeping almost 4 hours now! Ouch! I think he thinks it's his night time stretch! I hope not!

ps- approximetely one year ago today, Sean was conceived!

16 Weeks

This morning I watched the movie Karla while feeding Sean and then finished it while he slept on me for part of his morning nap. Wow - what a movie. I didn't really know the FULL story before watching this - I just knew that she and her husband were convicted for murder. So basically, it's based on real events, Paul Bernardo and his wife, Karla Homolka, kidnap, sexually abuse, and murder three young girls. One of the three young girls is Karla's sister Tammy. Anyhow, this took place in Canada, just outside of Toronto. Laura Pepron (That 70's show and now October Road), did a great job playing Karla. Karla, upon her release is now living in Montreal. For a while she was living in my area - but I seem to think that I heard she now lives on the south shore. I don't know if I would recognize her if I passed her on the street or wherever. Probably not.

Today I went over to Jamie's Aunt & Uncle's house and taught his almost 14 year old cousin how to knit. She had surgery last Tuesday on her spine, so she's at home recovering, and since she's bored during the day, (parents are out at work and brother goes to school) I went over to keep her company.

It took her a bit - but she's gotten the hang of it - however, she's very not confident, so she kept asking me if she was doing it right. I told her she was doing a great job and to keep going. I told her that today we started with just the knit stitch (I cast on for her) and that next time I come over there better be progress in her scarf! (Easy garter ridge scarf to start!) Andra is the first person I've ever taught to knit! (I did teach one of my sibling's now ex-friends to purl once, because they only knew how to do knit stitch, and to this day probably still can't figure it out! So everything is done in garter ridge without any shaping - but if you know the story, you know whom I'm talking about).

Sean was just the happiest baby today (as usual!) Look at these gorgeous smiles.... one after another! It was just non-stop! Laughing too... this kid likes to laugh!

Upon getting home from all my errands today, (Walmart, Omer DeSerres, etc), I gave Sean a bath, ate dinner, and then while watching Grey's Anatomy on TV, Sean decided to take a poop that would go down his sleeper leg, and hopefully not ruin my fave sleeper of his and his onesie. Guess what? It was so bad, Sean got another bath, within an hour from the first one. And he had to do this while I was on duty tonight - and Jamie at a friend's house to watch the hockey game, didn't he?? LOL. Oh, that was pure fun! Above, is a video of Sean's first bath tonight. He has fun splashing in the wather - he loves his bath! Oh - and he stuck out his tongue too! How cute.

Other things of note - I contacted the person I got the leftover yarn from that I used to make the blue MP3 cozy (I can't call it an Ipod cozy, because it wasn't for an ipod - but another MP3 company!) and it turns out that it was Embroidery floss. So - thinking that - that was a GENIOUS idea - I ran out and bought black and this awesome silvery grey to make Jamie's black cozy. I thought it was a genious idea - being knit on US zero needles I never would have thought that was what it was! And I'd never have thought to knit with embroidery floss. Pretty neat idea! Especially since it's sooo tiny! You know??

Other mail I got today was a pattern from Roxanne from Zen Yarn Garden. I picked out this pattern to make Metropolis Socks. (We swapped something that I had that she wanted for a pattern!) I can't wait to make a pair of socks in that pattern. I'm also wanting to cast on Jaywalkers, but I MUST finish the "married socks" first.... No more casting on until some FO's are done! Really!

This weekend I have plans with Angela (to craft!) and I want to upload a bunch of stitch markers to my online shop. Hmm, what else... I dont' really know what else is going on - all I know is that Jamie's working from home tomorrow - so I will be sleeping in!

I've been beading... and results will be uploaded to Etsy by this weekend. Here's a pre-sneak peak at the colors! My shop is doing well - and I'm having a blast doing orders for people! If you haven't yet purchased the personalized name stitch markers for your SP10 pal - be sure to! They're a hotcake! A definite must have!

I got Angela tonight to help me close all my earrings. I couldn't get them closed once they were in my ears - unfortunately. So now, there are 2 holes (1 in each ear) that I think may have closed up - oops... but most of my holes are still open. And the count with hoops in it right now is 6 in my right ear including my tragus piercing and 5 in my left ear. There used to be 7 & 7 (including my tragus piercing). I'm dying to get my nosed pierced with a tiny tiny tiny little stud, but I dono what Jamie's opinion on that is?? Maybe I should ask him. Anyhow, so these earrings I got from ebay are awesome, now that they're closed!

I went to my SNB tonight, and had a good time. I only got to cast on & knit 4 rows on a square for Sean's blankie - but you know what?? I don't care. I went to socialize. I needed it. And you know what? I had a very good time, and enjoyed myself. I even got my friend Vera to join us - she knits too - but is new to the SNB scene. She's come once before with me. I hope she had a good time!

When I got home this evening Sean was already sleeping. I'm debating waking him up and feeding him one last bottle now, or letting him sleep til whenever he gets up. Jamie said he slept most of the 2 and a half hours I was gone, and I returned home around 10:30 pm. So that means, he'll probably wake at 6am. Hmmm... Maybe I'll wake him.

Alright, I'm ACTUALLY going to bed now. I have a few more things to say, but I'll blog tomorrow. I promised Jamie I'd try to get to bed early... cuz last night was another 4 am bed time. I couldn't sleep again, and I caught myself cleaning the cat liter, emptying Sean's Diaper Champ, washing his bottles, and folding laundry until 4 am. Yeah, bad! Feed Sean & to bed!

Inspiration

I thought I'd seen the "pattern" for my inspiration somewhere.... You can get it on ebay for 2.33$ US each. I see that the ones on ebay are one size fits all - so it seems to be much wider than the custom size one I made. The MP3 player that both my sister & Jamie have are really really tiny... not slim and wide like IPOD. Well, that's Jamie's anyhow. I wonder if my sister's is an apple? Hmm, I'll have to ask her. These colors look a little more vibrant than the case I made, but I chose to do in these two tones, because I like the colors!

But at least I know mine won't fall apart, who know's what you'd be getting for $2.33 plus shipping on ebay, etc!

I think I'd seen an ad for them in a flyer that was an insert in my gazette - but couldn't remember where or what company - but had the idea in my head! I guess it was an apple ad?

Jamie ended up not liking the blue one, so he gave it to my sister, and he's requested a black one! MEN! I tell you! I hope my sister likes the blue one. I think I'm going to end up adding a button/snap onto it for her.

Lotus Knits has dyed up some GIRL PUNK ROCK for me as a trade. I can't wait to receive it in the mail.
I caved and just subscribed myself for Knit.1 Magazine. The next issue comes to newstands on May 15th. Hopefully that will be when I'll get my first issue - which they said 4-6 weeks for delivery. Jenn of Nipper Knits has a pattern in this upcoming issue!

[Let me try this again. Wrote this entire post. Went to go press publish & all my internet windows froze - DAMN IT! Had to reboot - only have as of my last 'save' - so I have to write up more than half this post again... DAMN INTERNET!]

Last night I organized my needles in these jars I picked up. I have organized my needles by type (metal/bamboo or wood/plastic/etc...) I love them. This is sitting ontop of my desk hutch now!

Last night I didn't get enough sleep again. I have been going through some sort of funk lately, and I feel a) overwhelmed, b) stressed for no apparent reason c) ready to break down at any given moment d) frustrated on some days e) unsure of where I want to take my career once my maternity leave is over (yet I have tons of options) f) scared of the 'real world/work world'... does any of this make any sense to me? No. How do I cope? Trying to get too many things done at once, playing super-mommy to Sean, trying to maintain my house, knitting & staying up until wee hours of the night, not being able to go to sleep until everything on my list is accomplished. Sean is sleeping through the night. I should be sleeping through the night. I am not getting nearly as much sleep as I should. Last night, I got a total of about 5 or 6 hours, and 3 of them were on the couch with Sean in my arms. And that was because Sean slept in until 9:30 am this morning.

I did get some knitting done last night, while catching up on Desperate Housewives and October Road (almost caught up - I downloaded all the 4 episodes that so far exist). I have an FO to show... I've started & completed Jamie's MP3 player case. It's in blue - because he is picky with colors, and I really like it. Here's some pictures. (I knit it flat, and just ribbing k2, p2.... for the entire thing and then seamed up the sides. I think I did a fairly good job with the seaming for this, it looks clean on the outside. I used US zero needles, and I swear to god, I thought I was going to break the yarn! I have no idea what yarn this is - as I used some leftovers that someone gave me that they didn't want to use. There was no label with it unfortunately. I wish I knew what it was... as it worked well for this project. I am debating whether to add a snap onto the end of the case... I will leave that up to Jamie - but I can add one easily - if he wants one. I will be knitting another one, of the exact same thing, but in another color this time - for my sister, as she wants one. It's a VERY easy knit - so I will probably get to it this weekend or something, I want to make some more squares for Sean's blankie first.



Above is the inside of my seaming job and below is the outside seaming job - I believe I did a great job finishing off this project! On the outside, you do not see my seaming! I love the colorway I chose .... or "pattern" if you call it that. I'd seen this two-tone on something (maybe it was a cell phone pouch - and decided I wanted to copy the idea).

STATS:

Pattern: knit 2, purl 2, knit flat. No pattern required.
Needles: US zero
Yarn: Embroidery Floss (Works well for tiny cases!)
Timeline: About 4-4.5 hours of knitting in one shot.

I hope Jamie likes it! If not, I'm sure my sister will like blue.... if Jamie does like it - then I'll make another one for my sister, in another color/yarn though - as I don't have enough yarn left in blue.

This morning I received lovely stitch markers from the swap I hosted/created, from the lovely Barb. Thank you very much Barb - I love them!

Today I ran a bunch of errands with my mom. I borrowed three Debbie Bliss books from the library near my mom's place - and I'm excited to go through them and see if there is any patterns I'd like to make for Sean. I also did a return at ToysRus, walmart, went to the art store, and picked up some groceries. I got a lot done today. Had lunch at my parents house. Phew! Mailed some stuff at the post office, and picked up some magazines for Jamie's cousin who just had surgery. Ran home, met Jamie and went to see his cousin.

This evening we went to visit Jamie's 14 year old cousin who just had spinal surgery a week ago. She's looking good, and feeling good, and walking around. We brought her 2 pairs of pj's, 1 book, 3 magazines (J-14, Teen & Seventeen) and 2 new releases at blockbusters. I told her that she should pick out two movies for herself, not to let anyone else pick out a movie! I am planning on spending some time with her on Thursday (since tomorrow's already packed with stuff to do), and teaching her to knit. Her parents are working during the day, and her little brother goes to school. I told her I'd keep her company. It's going to be a long month of recovery if she's home alone every day. She's very happy though about not having to do phys.ed for 2 years! And she thinks it's pretty cool that she has 14 screws in her back that will set off the metal detectors at the airport. She'll have a note from her doctor about the screws though, so she doesn't have to worry about problems! Cute... at least she's doing very well!

Last night I couldn't sleep - so I decided to cast on another square, and watch Running With Scissors. What a weird movie, but I liked it for it's weirdness! I timed how long an uninterrupted square takes me - 1 hour and 48 minutes during the 2 hour movie. I started the movie at 2 am this morning, finishing it at almost 4 am. Sean slept in until almost 10 am this morning, so I still got 6 hours of sleep. Phew!

I received these beauties in the mail this morning from the blogless Anita. Thank you Anita - they are wonderful. I'm loving the wire she used, and emailed her to find out what it is - or where I could find it - I'm thinking about switching over to use it next time. Maybe I'll hit up the craft shop to see what it was - or maybe the hardware store even! I am putting them into my purse for the next time I go shopping! (Maybe tomorrow - want to know what it is!!) It's like bendable wire, and it holds shape!

Got an email from Scout today - that my yarn has been dyed and shipped. The green appletini above is mine, as well as one of the brown/cream/turquoise snowbunny! I can't wait to get my swag! (Above photo is curtosey of today's Scout's Swag Blog Post). I hope Scout feels better - she hurt herself. Feel better Scout!

I filmed the above video before we left to do errands today. Sean wanted to say hello to everyone! He's cooing all the time now, and I love it!

I did some post office shipping, some item pick-ups and took care of my to-do list. I then ran over to Sean's doctor's appointment, and we were 30 minutes early, so since his doctor had no one, she took us right away. That was nice of her. Sean's thrush is 100% gone, (that is the main reason we went), and she feels his breathing is a-okay (sometimes I feel like he sounds like he's panting, but maybe it's me over-analyzing his breathing!). I had Sean weighed, and he's 14 lbs 3 oz now. He's just above the 50th percentile now, which is dead smack average. Yey - my boy is finally average for his "age"...!

This evening Sean got his first taste at Cereal. We started him off with like 3 bites. Just to see his reaction:
