September 15 of 30

This morning we got up super early and picked up Janet (blogless), Mona & Caroline at around 9 am. We wanted to be at the Roxham Wool Gathering for 10 am, when it opened. We got there and artists were still setting up shop. It had rained, but cleared up when we got there, and stayed clear while we were there. It was really nice, but it shouldn't have been called a Wool Gathering, when there was only 3 of all the artists with yarn. One lady was over priced, one lady just had natural yarn (to dye if you wish) and another had handpainted stuff, but also some natural yarn as well.

Mona introduced Sean to her bag of roving that she bought. Hmmm, maybe he'll be a spinner one day!

Janet asked me if there was room in my trunk to take this dog home. Unfortunately Sean's stroller takes up the entire trunk (pretty much).

Mona was happy to get some "baby" time, and Sean loved hanging out with her. And I got some hands free time to knit a few rows on Jamie's Cabled Socks, pattern designed by Mona herself!

Here are some of my purchases for today. (Can't show what I bought my Secret Pal, she may be reading my blog, who knows!)


I bought some natural fibers as well as the same thing but dyed in a hot pink. It's merino wool, and I love the two colors together.

I bought 3 skeins of purple. No idea what I'm going to do with any of my yarn, but I'll figure it out. I just loved this shade of purple.

And I bought some navy dyed yarn for something for Sean. Need to swatch to see what gauge I'll get (no idea the yardage either - all I know is the weight of this yarn in grams and what fiber it is). All my purchases today were from Lady Godiva, and she's from Howick, Qc. I just mapquested Howick, and it's 49 minutes from my house, off Highway 132. It's about halfway between Salaberry-De-Valleyfield (off highway 30) and Hemmingford (where Roxham was today), but there is no direct highway between those two points I just named. So the seller did travel from about the same distance I did to get there today, actually, it was probably further for her, since she had to probably came via Montreal to get there! The drive there and back wasn't too bad at all, maybe 40 minutes max. Time passed in the car very quickly, as we were all deep in conversation! I was in good company, and had a great time. Sean had a great time too, enjoyed the fresh air, and napped on the way home.

Tomorrow I'm meeting up with SP11 Hostess Kerry at Roxham. I am very excited to meet her! We've been talking via email for a while now, and I just think it's neat to meet another hostess. She lives just as far from Roxham as I do, but I'm in Canada and she's in NY State!

Tonight Jamie & I played Bowling on the Nintendo Wii. He figured out the trick, and has been kicking my butt in the game. Dang! I was kicking his butt before, and now he's got me back. He's such a competitor, I swear! Almost takes out the fun in it!

This morning I got an issue of Glow Magazine in the mail. Funny thing is - I didn't order this. So either, someone got me a subscription and paid for it, though I have no idea who, and I'll be getting a subscription in the mail (though I don't usually read this magazine), or someone put my name in for a subscription and I'll get a bill in the mail soon. If this is the case, I'm not paying for it, and I'll have just gotten a free issue - so thank you to whomever sent me the free issue(s). But I know it's not me, because I write me name in a special way when I sign up for magazines, it's my way of knowing if they give my name off to lists and telemarketing etc. So that I know if I get mail for a certain name, then so-and-so magazine sold/gave my name & information somewhere.

I got a new case for the clicker for my house alarm system. Remember I posted about it breaking? Well, I got a new clicker, this time a nice silvery pink clicker case. Now we just need to transfer the electronic part on the inside, and get it to work. It's not as easy as it looks. I love the new case, I'll photograph it once it's working. I am glad we were able to find a case for it, because a new one costs 75$ and it was all because the loop to go around the keychain broke. I tried melting it together with fire, but it melted the plastic away, instead of together.

Today all of a sudden my hotmail that I used (graphicdesignchick at hotmail dot com) - the one listed on my sidebar, is now in Windows Live. I didn't ask them to do this. I absolutely hate that they change it, without consulting me first. My other account, which I've had for 10 years plus, is still in "old" hotmail. But this account, which I've had for just about 2 years now (when I entered graphic design school), was changed over. I do NOT like the new look of Windows Live, and I'm not used to it. I have a ton of emails sitting in my inbox, and I'm just too frustrated to use it. I sent hotmail feedback annoyed that they did this, and maybe they'll change it back? If not, I'm thinking of switching to gmail for my regular email address (that I can access anywhere), though I don't like that fact that in gmail you can't create folders to store saved emails. That I do not like. Maybe yahoo is like hotmail? I'll have to check it out. I don't want to transfer everything to my Robyn's Nest email, because it's harder to access that email on the road. Hmm! I am a bit behind on my emails, I know, I've been really bad. Things have been a little busy around here - so if you are expecting an email back from me - please be patient!

Tomorrow I'm off to the Roxham Wool Festival. Not sure what to expect, but I'm very excited. I'm meeting Janet, Caroline & Mona in the morning and we're off. I'm going back on Sunday, and I'm meeting Angela, Alison & Kadi, and then we're off. I'm also meeting up with SP11 Hostess Kerry down at the festival. Very excited to meet her. (No idea what she looks like, so I guess she'll have to find me!)

37 Weeks

It's been one year today since the tragedies at Dawson College. I was away on my belated honeymoon with Jamie in Europe, and Kimveer Gill started shooting a gun in Dawson College, a school that I had graduated from twice over (Creative Arts & Professional Photography) and where friends still attended. There was 19 injured, one dead and then Kimveer shot himself after being shot in the arm by police. We take some time today to remember the victims of the tragedy.

In brighter news, the new Knitty is up! Fall 2007. I will have to browse later and see what I want to make. I'll get back to you! There are some nice things in there.

Today, Sean is 37 weeks old. He now has two bottom teeth. Though, they aren't fully showing, they've cut the gums, and are on their way out! You can see them, when he laughs, otherwise, if you try to open his mouth, he sticks his tongue to cover them. Smart little guy! We had fun taking some pictures tonight in my Aunt's bathroom at Rosh Hashanah Dinner.

I think I forgot to wish everyone who celebrates a Shana Tovah! Happy New Year!

At my Aunt's tonight, after dinner, since I had accidently left Sean's pj bottoms at home (on my bed where we later discovered them) and only had the top of his PJ's upon changing him, we decided to take some diaper shots. I think there were about 5 cameras taking pictures when we did this, but here is a shot from my camera. Sean is mobile, Jakob isn't yet. So, it was hard getting Sean to stay in one spot for these pictures!

I got More Sensational Knitted Socks in the mail today as well as Veronik Avery's new book. Now I need to catch Veronik at a Montreal Knits Meetup for her to autograph my book! Thank you Angela! I already want to make the Military Jacket. I just love it.

Sometimes Sean gets very serious and won't smile. (I can eventually get him to smile, but I'm wondering what the heck he's thinking about, that gets him so serious!?)

Don't you just love his sweater pockets? They're mittens! And no, I didn't knit this sweater, it's from the Gap. Too bad, it's gorgeous, and I'd love to take credit for it! Maybe I can figure out how to design mitten pockets for a future sweater.

This morning we met Angela and we spent the day with her. We went for lunch to my fave Greek place Marathon's as Angela had never eaten there before, and well, that's just not right. Every Montrealer must try out Marathons at least once!

Upong arriving home from work, Jamie brought with him the Skein Winder that my father built for me. This is the neatest thing ever. Must thank my dad four hundred times over. Check this out:

I am in love with my new toy. Oh, I'm going to have some fun re-skeining the sock club kits for September. (Some of them needed to be re-skeined, as the dyer didn't have time to re-skein them all).

Also - this toy will be a lot of fun to use when I start dying up my own yarns. I'm in the progress of thinking about it, have some dyes already, and some yarn too - so that will be a lot of fun, I hope! But, need to figure out a dying set-up, so until I get organized, that will be on hold.

Tonight we went over to my in-laws for supper for the first night of Rosh Hashanah. It was a lot of fun and I think I ate way too much. Tomorrow we have lunch at Jamie's cousin's house and then dinner at my aunt & uncle's place. (Then one more dinner at Jamie's aunt & uncle's on Friday night). Busy busy holidays!

I started reading the book The Booster by Jennifer Solow. I had seen this interview on KnitPastis' blog and was interested in checking out the book. So far, it's alright. I'm about 50 or so pages into the book (read some before falling asleep last night - went to bed early again!) To be honest, I'm not so sure the book flows great, but I'll give it a chance. I'll keep you updated on what my opinion of this book is.

September 11 of 30

First off, HAPPY 30th BIRTHDAY Jennifer!

Last night I was in bed by 11 pm (computer shut down, so there is no tempting to came back to it!) and was pretty much out cold in less than 5 minutes. I was zonked. I am going to try the same thing tonight.


Today, I received the 113 lbs of yarn. This is what 113 lbs of yarn looks like! It arrived in 2 potato sack thingies. I have not yet opened it (was running errands all day, but will take a look at it later tonight). Looks like it will be a slow process to uploading it to my site, but I'll let you know soon what it is!

This morning as soon as I was positive that the electronic store received my Wii - I ran there. I had some troubles picking up a 2nd console for my sister (she had to bitch out the Manager on the phone - but in the end she got one - something about 1 per family, so 1 purchase allowed). She does not live in my house, and was with me yesterday when we went to get them, and it was THE SAME salesman from yesterday. He was a jerk. Anyhow, we got the 2nd one for her (she had to work today) and tonight she came over to pick it up. More about my Wii later in this post.


This afternoon I met with my friend Elana at one of my fave restaurants for lunch. (Tasty Foods on Decarie - I heart their whole wheat pizza). Sean was given a piece of whole wheat sandwhich bread (sans crusts) and absolutely loved it. He devoured two slices on himself and on the floor. The waitress said to not worry, they had someone who sweeps the floors, so not to bother cleaning up after Sean. Boy did he make a mess.

I caught these really cute faces he made while eating the bread. I also love his bib. "My mommy loves me." Damn true, I do!

It was really good to see Elana again, this time more than just for a few minutes of chatter in our pre-post natal aqua class. Elana is the one who is 17 weeks pregnant. She was absolutely in love with Sean. I made her a diaper cake as a gift for her little one to be. I was sooo proud of my creation, it was my first time creating one. It was sooo much fun. Here is an almost finished view of what they looked like:



I forgot to photograph them upon complete finishing, there were some items added and some clear celophane added to enclose them. She loved it, which is all I'm happy about!

This afternoon Sean & I ran some errands. A few things to mail for Robyn's Nest, and also some things to pick up and I finally found a frame I liked to frame my autographed Cookie A Monkey Pattern that Rhoda got me. I will be hanging it in my office as soon as I can get Jamie to do so. (I hate my office walls, they suck for hanging things!) But here she is framed! Looks good!

Tomorrow Angela is coming over to hang out with me for the day, she took the day off work after her doctor's apointment, and we'll be doing some knitting. Tomorrow night, we'll be going to Jamie's dad & step-mom's for Rosh Hashanah dinner. Looking forward to seeing the family & having good home cooked meals! Delicious! I don't have to think about cooking for the next 3 days, and I'm a-okay with that! Mmmm leftovers! Today Sean helped me pick out some gifts to bring to all the houses we're going to for Rosh Hashanah, and even a little something for his cousin Jakob for when we go to my aunt's house Thursday night for dinner.

Alright, shutting down my PC and going to sleep. I actually felt great today after going to be last night early and getting a good night's rest. Let's see if I can say goodbye to insomnia!

Tonight's post is photoless. I didn't take my camera out today. Sorry! (Tomorrow!)

I am sitting here at my desk, I can barely keep my eyes open. Today was a busy day. My sister came over before lunch, and we headed out the door. First we went to one of my suppliers, while she sat in the car, and I went to pick up a few things that I ordered that came in. Some new colors of Colinette Jitterbug that will be going up for sale in my shop tomorrow. (Apparently I missed a delivery today too - some yummy yarn goodness is also arriving tomorrow - more details about that tomorrow after they re-deliver!) (113 lbs of yarn. The girl on the phone when I called to re-schedule my re-delivery was like "Did I read that correctly? 113 lbs of yarn?" (LOL!) After leaving my supplier I went to have lunch with my sister and then we headed to the electronic store to get a Wii Console. None left in the province in Quebec. WHAT??!!! But I want one now! They're "expecting" some soon, so I'll keep checking. I did manage to pick up a few seasons on DVD that we collect. (Simpsons, South Park & Seinfeld - the Three S'!) And I still have plenty of gift certificate left to get my Wii (already bought the extra controller and some accessories and 1 game that Jamie wanted).... but waiting on that darn console! I hope I don't have to wait long. Thank you to my parents for the lovely early Chanukah present! (Chanukah in September?!) (Though, in 2013 Chanukah actually starts in November and is way before Xmas like it was in 2002 (last November Chanukah date). And in 2016 it actually starts on Xmas Day (Erev Chanukah (the start night) is on Xmas Eve).

This evening I went to post-natal aqua, with a friend of mine, Elana. It was great to see her. She's 17 weeks pregnant, and her little belly is super cute. She thinks she's having a girl (from her 13 week screening) but her 20 week UltraSound at the hospital isn't until October 1st. She's coming over for a late lunch tomorrow, so I am very excited to see her. Should be nice. On my way out from the Y I signed up Sean for Starfish, the next swimming class (for 6 months + babies). I wasn't the only post-natal tonight in the pre & post natal aqua class, my friend Marie, who had a baby in February came also. Phew - I wasn't the only veteran there. Lots of new faces, which is good. I like that! My aqua teacher asked me if I was pregnant yet, I told her not until next year. Though, I miss being pregnant, terribly! I loved being back in the water for this class though. Pregnant or not, it's relaxing!

However, I'm beyond exhausted from aqua tonight. It tires me out. I also think I am going to go to bed at a decent time tonight. I need to form better sleeping habits. And now because I'm exhausted from aqua, maybe that will help. I think maybe I'll turn off my computer, so I'm not tempted to come back on. Maybe I'll get to knit a few rows on Jamie's sock number 2, if I can keep my eyes open a bit longer. We'll see. If not, tomorrow I'll put in some knitting time. Yep, that's the plan. While waiting for my 113 lbs delivery.

ps - You can't really see them yet, but you can totally feel Sean's teeth trying to push through the gums. I love it! It's sooo exciting right now as it's something new!

This afternoon we ran some errands with my siblings. First we went to ToysRUs to do a purchase & return (two items I bought Sean in the past month or so went on sale, so I bought new ones & returned them with my old bill - saved over 30$ - so I bought Sean some new toys!)(See below).

Sean got his very own Caillou comfy chair. He likes it. And look - he's sooo darn cute in it! He also got a lawn mower that is a learning toy (ABC's, 123's etc) and some Mega Blocks (but those he ain't getting until he is closer to 1 year old, I'll put them away for the next few months).


At the pharmacy I picked up this awesome Habs bowl & spoon. I needed something to serve Sean in tonight (We had dinner at my brother's place and I forgot to bring a baby spoon), but upon seeing this dish, I had to buy it, and it was on sale too! Can you tell we're huge Habs fans?

At his Uncle's house, Sean checked out all the electronics. I played the Nintendo Wii for the first time ever today, (BOWLING!) and absolutely MUST get a Wii now! I think I'll be going tomorrow (with some early Chanukah gift certificate money!) I played 3 games of bowling, and I must say, it's SUPER addictive!


Tonight, I felt the bottom gums in Sean's mouth, and you can FEEL the teeth now! They're really sharp! They feel all jagged! I cannot wait for them to push more out! It's soooo exciting! You should have seen the smile on MY face when I felt that! And I managed to get my finger in there as he was falling asleep. Sean usually seals his mouth shut if you try to go in there now. (I don't blame him if his gums are sore from cutting teeth! There are definitely two in there coming out! The bottom two will be the firsts! Oh - I'm a proud mom! I cannot wait!

Tomorrow Sean is having some visitors. I need to run to a supplier to pick up an order, and my sister & I will probably go check out some Ninetendo Wii's! Tomorrow night I have my first aqua class of the season - I am very excited. I'm meeting a friend who is about 20 weeks pregnant or so, for the pre & post natal aqua class. She's pre and I'm post! I just love that class. Get to talk "mommy" stuff. I love the teacher and I love the relaxed atmosphere. Plus, I need to get back into shape before we decide to have baby number 2. Slowly getting there. My stomach is flattening more and more by the weeks that pass. It's tough though, to get rid of that "baby" fat. I also need to sign Sean up for the next swimming class. (Which will start in October). I hope I don't forget when I'm at the Y.

There was unfortuntaly no knitting done today. I just didn't get to pull it out of my purse while we were hanging out this afternoon, and that led into the evening, and I had stuff to do in the house this evening upon returning home. Oh well. There is always tomorrow.

September 8 of 30

I got to sleep in this morning, I was very happy about that. Jamie took care of Sean, and then upon getting up, we took our time to get ready. I packed the car, using my new tote bag that I won from Raesha (the red one - LOVE IT!) We then headed to the Deli to pick up some grub and then to the park to have a little picnic. We got swarmed by bees at the picnic tables, so we tried to eat on the ground on our blanket. Still got swarmed by bees so we finished up quickly, and took our blanket elsewhere for some relaxation, and then I took Sean on the swings. Upon getting to the swings we noticed some water fountain thingies and decided to check them out upon finishing on the swing. Sean loves the swings. He loves swinging high. The look on his face is priceless. He smiles the biggest smile ever. He used to love the swing I had in my office when he was just a little wee one. Now he loves the big boy swing in the park. I'm hoping that we'll move in the spring (still working on Jamie for that) and we'll have a big enough backyard when we move to have a swing set in the yard for Sean and for his future sibling(s).


Jamie captured a Bee. The little buggers wouldn't leave us alone. And I'm talking like 12 of them. It was as if they knew we had the good stuff!

Daddy gave Sean some Kernatzel from the deli to gnaw on. For those of you that don't know, Kernatzel is a Jewish Deli meat. Apparently, it's also a MONTREAL Deli thing....

But... LOOK! Look at his bottom gums! See those two lines? Looks like teeth that are about to errupt! Oh my....! I am sooo excited. Any day now.... maybe tomorrow!??? (It would be about time!)

Anyhow, in the park we discovered this area for hot days! I'm hoping Monday will be nice so I can go with my sister & Sean in the afternoon this time in bathing suits.

But I did manage to get this photograph of Sean & I before we left the water area. Love it! Shadow Self-Portraits are so much fun to do!

Sean is getting very good at standing. We tried it in the park, but the grass wasn't level. But I took a video anyhow! Thought it was too cute not to post!

I cast on sock number 2 for Jamie's anniversary socks but haven't made any progress past the long-tail cast on and the first round of ribbing. I do plan on working a bit on it upon publishing this post. I plan to opent he bottle of wine that I have in the kitchen, having a glass and knitting infront of the TV. Last night I enjoyed one ice cold beer, tonight it's a nice glass of red wine. I don't drink often, so this is a treat. And there was the nice bottle of South African wine that was staring me in the face at the store this past week. I couldn't say no.

September 7 of 30

Today was just one of those days. I hadn't left the house since Wednesday night, so maybe that was part of it. Maybe it was also the record breaking weather today too. Gosh is was disgustingly humid outside.

I received the sock yarn for the September sock club. I have a lot of re-skeining to do, but the yarn will ship as promised by the end of next week/beginning of the week of the 17th. (Mid-September). If I can get them out early, I will! Promise! (There is still about 15 spots left in the October Sock club so if you are interested don't forget to sign up!) Last month, the sock club sold out in a week and a half! Sign ups for Octobers kit you have until October 1st, or until the last spot it taken.

Tonight I finished sock 1 of Jamie's Anniversary socks. Sat down in front of the TV with a Heineken and my knitting. I don't drink beer often, but it was good to enjoy a cold beer on a freakin' hot day. The socks look great! I'm just worried they won't fit Jamie's feet. That's why I am not casting on sock number 2 yet. (Jamie's sleeping right now, so I can't wake him to try them on). I love them. So if they don't fit him, I'll take them! I am hoping they do though, I have just over a week left to finish them to wrap them for our anniversary! That reminds me, I have the card for him, but I need to finish getting the rest of his gift. He wants the NHL Hockey Practice Jersey Montreal Canadiens (the new Reebok one). I need to see what's the best place to get my hands on one. (Missed a good deal on a brand new one on ebay when he couldn't make up his mind). Also - I'll probably get him a box of hockey cards. He collects them. I'll have to go see his buddy at the card shop to see which box to get him.

Tonight we went for dinner at Jamie's dad & step-mom's. It was delicious as always. (I love my mother-in-law's cooking!)

Tomorrow we were thinking about going apple picking, but the place we want to go to may only have Lobo Apples right now, and what I really want is McIntosh. I'm going to call first thing in the morning to see if maybe I'm in luck for McIntosh. If so, off to apple picking we go! (I'm dying to make some fresh apple pies!)

My blogaversary is in 45 days. (A month and a half). I better start thinking about a blogaversary contest! I have some ideas cooking, so stay tune in early October for those details!

36 Weeks

Today I went picture happy, since yesterday I didn't feel like taking a single photo. So here goes.

Today Sean is 36 weeks old. (2 more weeks until he's been out of my belly for as long as he was in). <-- I don't know why I find this cool, but I do!

Today I watched 2 movies. I decided today would be sit on the couch day.
Sean made a mess with his toys (what else is new?)
And I watched Blades of Glory (Stupid but funny).
And Georgia Rule (not what I was expecting, but alright).

I worked on sock number 1 of Jamie's anniversary socks. September 18th will be here before I know it, so I must finish his socks.

They are coming along great, but I'm worried they will be a little tight on him. Here's to hoping they won't be!


I got my BMFA's sock club kit in the mail the other day. Not 100% happy with the colors (again!) but they're alright. They may be gift knitted eventually. (We'll see). But they definitely won't be in the pattern that blue moon sent. They're totally not me.

I've been keeping my emergency skein on my corkboard in my office. Only 2 more to go. My boyfriend Saku Koivu has a place on my corkboard just above the emergency skeins.

Also on my corkboard is my lonely socks. I've got 1 "Married sock" (to match the "Married" socks I made Jamie last year/early this year) and 1 Jaywalker. Eventually I need to get around to make their match. First I need to finish Jamie's anniversary socks, and then my Father-in-law's hat & scarf set that I'm making him for his birthday (Oct 11th). Deadlines! Deadlines! I'd also like to finish Sean's Cabled Pullover BEFORE he outgrows 18 month size! (He's in about 9 month size now, but before I know it, he'll be in that size!)

Tonight I also watched Big Brother 8 and Eric, whom I was rooting for, was evicted right after his girlfriend on the show Jessica was. I am very disappointed, as I was rooting for Eric. I do not want any of the last 4 to win. I kind of don't want to watch the show anymore, though I'm curious as to whom will win. What a big disappointment!

Crazy Aunt Purl is having a sweepstake contest, go on - enter! There are two ways. One is a random draw, the other you have to knit a cat sweater. (Not for your cat, but for you, with a cat on it!)

My October sock club kits are selling, and I've very excited for the colorway. It's just a gorgeous "fall" colorway, perfect for the season. I can't wait to get a kit for myself! The September kits should mail out by mid week next week. I'm hoping the yarn arrives tomorrow in the mail. My tracking number with UPS says it's "on time" and the delivery is to happen tomorrow. I cannot wait to see it!
