Halloween 2015

Hallwindow (2)

Since I talked yesterday about my Christmas window, I totally forgot to show you my Hallowen window from this past Halloween! We had fun with this fall/Halloween window this past year. You’ve already seen the Katia cushion that we turned into the witch, but there was some more fun parts to this window that I’d like to show you.

Hallwindow (1)

We had a skeleton knitting….

pumpkin2 pumpkin

And a pumpkin that I knit using 4 strands of Cascade Lana Grande on 15mm needles. I followed the Jack Be Little Pumpkin pattern by Elizabeth Murphy except for the fact that I super sized it! The stem was Diamond Luxury Collection Embrace held double stranded.

scare1 scare2

I crochet some overalls for the two scarecrows in the window.

scarecrows

That was just a freeform crochet project, with no pattern. I used a 5mm crochet hook and Schachenmayr Wool 125 in orange. They were both a one evening project.

hallowig

Not part of my window, but a project I wanted to finish in time for Halloween was my Hallowig, which I had started the year earlier but then got sidetracked from it. This did not come out big enough and I knitted it as per pattern. I am very disappointed in this project. I am going to see if I can undo the cast off, rip it back, add length to it, and fix it… Though, I am not sure I would ever wear it at this point, so I am not sure if it’s actually worth it.

3boys

And to end my Halloween post, here is a pic of my boys on Halloween night. I’ve got a hockey player, a Batman and a G.I. Joe trooper of some kind. They had a great time trick or treating this past fall.

Halloween 2014

Boys2014

Hope you all had a Happy Halloween! My Thor, Mario & Batman sure did. They were pleased with the candies they got and it was actually a very mild Montreal Halloween this year. Did you go Trick or Treating? What did your kids dress up as this year?

spiderQ

Quentin wanted to be Spiderman for school and Mario for trick-or-treating. Lucky kid has a wardrobe of costumes to pick from, as he has 2 older brothers with lots of hand-me-down costumes! I just want to eat him up, he’s soooo cute!

Happy Halloween!

dragonQ

It’s raining outside so we’ve decided not to go trick or treating tonight. The kids are a bit disappointed but it’s pouring outside and as I type this the lights are flickering. I promised them tomorrow we’ll go out and pick up candies/chocolates to fill their pumpkin bucket that all year round, providing they finish their entire dinner, they can choose something for dessert from their bucket. (During the year when it runs low, I replenish it with treats anyhow). I managed to get a picture of Quentin in his costume before school today, and Mackenzie’s class party was photographed by my sister today (I cannot wait to get the DVD of pictures from her to see what I missed while at work). I did not get a picture of Sean in his costume, as he only got into his costume after lunch for his class party and he refused this evening to put it on for me to take a picture. I feel like there was no Halloween spirit today.

MacknSummer

Mackenzie is in love. He’s known this cutie since  he was 18 months old, as he’s been in daycare with her for 4 years before starting Kindergarten, and now they’re in the same class again this year. It’s sooooo cute the way he is with her.

Trick Or Treating

halloween2011withme

Last night, Sean wore his other Batman Costume (this one was a bit larger than the black one he wore to daycare, so he was able to get layers under the costume). Quentin wore his Frog Costume again (as it had feet as was the warmest) and Mack wore his black batman costume, which again, like Sunday night after a Halloween party, he tried to ask to sleep in it again. He put up a good fight too! The boys were layered in pjs & clothes as well as a sweater too under their costumes. I'm glad I was able to get layers. Also, it was 11°C outside, rare for October 31st. The last couple of Halloweens we froze outside. I didn't even have to wear gloves it was so warm! It was actually a pleasure to be out.

We had no one really come to our house except for the bell ringing about 4 times with maybe 6 kids total. Jamie stayed home and handed out candy to those 6 kids. I went out with the kids & my mom for a bit just to do the 2 circles around my house and part of another street as we had friends living there who wanted to see the kids. No one really was giving out candy! The houses we did go to, gave us extra, as no one was even coming to their houses either. One girl even came to us while we were preparing to leave our house, and asked if the boys wanted candy as her dad fell asleep and she was turning out the lights & not handing out anymore. Never thought we'd get candy coming to us!!

It's pathetic... Halloween is NOT what it used to be! People have no fun anymore and are perhaps lazy! They can't blame it on money... it costs nothing to get a small bag of lolly pops! I got 250 (good) lollypops at Walmart for under 6$. Even the dollar store has decent candy for a buck or two! My neighbors are no fun at all.

benchpic

Sean, Mack & my mom.

ringbell

Sean at first didn't even want to go trick or treating. But by the end of it - they were fighting over who got to ring the bell! We had to take turns, and boy were they keeping track.

froginstroller

Quentin had the best night out of all of us - being wheeled around. My mom carried his bucket for most of the time we were out - until the end when Sean wanted to help out with Quentin's bucket. Quentin, doesn't eat chocolates or candy yet... but he was collecting for his brothers! (And some for mommy & daddy of course!) He was a real trooper!

loothalloween

The boys did well with their loot! They had fun tonight sorting through it, and making piles of what they wanted to keep and what they wanted to trade. They're too funny.

Qsface

And poor Mr. Quentin who cannot eat this junk yet.... was memorized by the loot! Next year he'll be able to have some too.

We had fun this Halloween. Did your kids do well too? Did they have fun? I hope so!

Stay tuned later this week for a dress-up surprise!

Halloween 2011

boys2011Halloween

My boys, Halloween morning 2011.
(Getting all 3 to look & smile…. impossible. At least they’re all looking!)

Qfrog

While the boys were in daycare, I took my little froggy to run some errands, including picking up some last minute candy for trick-or-treaters. Quentin of course flirted with all the ladies in the stores. He's such a little flirt.

boobags

And while my little froggy napped, I prepared good “boo” bags for anyone who rings our bell (in costume, of course!)

What are your kids dressing up as this year? I’ve got 2 batmans and maybe a Frog (or maybe a dragon? Or maybe a giraffe)… you’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find out what Quentin ended up going as… he has options!

Though, all 3 boys have gotten use of the awesome frog costume. Here is Mackenzie for Purim (Jewish “Halloween” in spring) 2009 and Sean for his first Halloween on October 31, 2007.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Be safe!

Pumpkin Carving

carvingpumps

We carved pumpkins a few weeks ago when my SIL & nephew were in town. All the kids got to pick out a pumpkin at the market. When we got home, they got started right away.

carvingpumpkins

seancarving

Sean really got into it! (Mack didn't want to get dirty).

SMpumpkins

pumpkins

And we waited until that night to light them up with tea lights. The boys was super excited! They thought it was pretty cool. They are super excited for Halloween! And now I just pray that they'll wear their costumes when the time comes. (I hope they do too - I'm very excited!) We still have the last few Halloween decorations to put up. I better get started on that!

Now, I better go roast those seeds before they are no good anymore. Mmm! Pumpkin seeds!

10.31.10

snowoncar2010
Woke up to snow still on my car. I was told it snowed again a bit this morning.

spidermen2010
After everyone left my parents house, we had a family lunch today instead of dinner since I wanted to take the boys trick or treating at dinner time, we tried on the boys costumes to make sure I didn't need to do any alterations before it was time to go out. The costumes fit them perfect.

spiderman2010
And after struggling (yet again) to get them into the costumes, I couldn't get them out of them until it was time to actually go trick or treating tonight.

Habspump
I had an hour at home before heading out to my sister & brother's area for trick or treating. I decided to go there this year (last year the boys were sick so we handed out candy and the year before we did our neighborhood) as it was way easier for me to go there than to walk further distances between houses. I had fun trick or treating with my two mini-spidermans tonight. I totally could have gone more if a) it wasn't so cold out and b) I wasn't 32 weeks pregnant. I felt such pressures "down there" by the time I got home, it's a good thing I'm not 37+ weeks pregnant, as I'm sure I would have gone into labor if so. (And I love whomever had this HABS pumpkin (above) out in front of their house - totally awesome!) The boys had matching Spiderman buckets to collect their candy in and the boys loved them.

... I'm totally going to be sick tomorrow. I started out this evening with a BAD headache (I am hoping it doesn't turn into a headache) and a runny nose. Totally coming down with something. So not happy about that, but I so had to take the boys trick or treating. They're only young once.

vestee99done
Progress on Vestee. It's 95% done. I just need to make the neckline band (which is knit separately then sewn on - not sure why you don't just pick up stitches off the neckline - but anyhow). I finally got the body done (that has been hibernating since my birthday in June). It's size 12 months, so baby boy 3 won't be wearing it until at least next fall. For all of you whom inquired, I am making the shawl collared version, not the hooded. I figured after someone made a comment that if baby 3 falls asleep without the hood on his head, it might bother him being bunched up or something, so I decided to go without the hood. I like it regardless. Totally cute. Almost done, thankfully.

Don't forget that I'm having a contest to win a ton of awesome prizes! If you want to win, just simply leave a comment anywhere on this blog until midnight, TONIGHT, Oct 31st, 2010, as I'll be drawing winners on Monday, November 1st, 2010. Good luck! Please note, even if you are logging into your blogger profile, not all of you have email addresses associated with it. Also - a lot of you have 100% blank blogger profiles. If I don't know who you are, you won't be able to win a prize. So please leave your information. Some of your profiles link to blank pages or don't link at all anywhere, so if I can't find you, you can't win. THANKS! 32 weeks pregnant // 8 months.

juno

I was thinking about going as Juno for Halloween?
What do you think?
I don't even need to stuff my belly under my shirt!

skatelesson1030

This morning Sean had his Halloween skating class (however he decided not to wear his costume skating, which is fine, because only a handful of the kids were dressed up). Sean did extremely well skating without the bar again today. So very proud of him.

workbooksean

This afternoon I worked on some workbooks with Sean. He is really getting the hang of tracing the letters to help his skills. I really like these workbooks I got.
scoopingpumps

This evening we carved 2 pumpkins.
Sean had a lot of fun cleaning out the insides of it.
(I plan to roast the seeds)! YUM.

seanpump

He was so proud of his work. (My dad helped him cut out the face).

pumpkins2010

These are our 2 pumpkins! So not putting them out on mat night.

snowoncars

This evening I looked outside to see SNOW on my car!!
I couldn't believe it. Snow. On the night before Halloween.
In my almost 30 years on this planet, I don't think we've ever had snow before Halloween.
(That I can remember anyhow).

I've been working on Vestee. Making great progress. Stay tuned.

10.29.10

halloween2010d

It took me half an hour and a bribe to get Mack into a costume. He refused to be the shark like Sean. I gave him 5 options that I had in 2T/3T size. A shark (new this year purchased for daycare party today) a lion (what Sean was last year to daycare), a dragon (what Sean was 2 years ago to daycare) a monkey (What Sean wore 2 years ago trick or treating) or a spider (what they both were but now using Sean's old size for handing out candies last year since they both were sick and we stayed in). ALL Old Navy on sale! Love Old Navy & now we have a dress up trunk!) Took a bribe of a new hotwheel car to get him in the lion costume, the one that Sean wore to daycare last year. Then I wanted pictures of them. Oy, what a morning. Why are kids sometimes impossible & stubborn? Sean tried to take the costume off as soon as we were done taking pictures, and it took some convincing to get him to wear it to daycare. Once they both saw their classmates dressed up, they were all into it.

halloween2010c

Aren't they just the cutest?
I'm biased, I know.

This evening we had some friends over for fondu dinner (Chinese Bouillon) and we watched the Habs game, which we won against the Islanders. The kids were hyped up on sugar from their halloween treats from daycare. I made my first ever pumpkin pie tonight. It came out great. Had no idea Jamie hates pumpkin pie, and our guests aren't fans either. Oh well. More for me. I'll let the boys try it tomorrow and see if they like it or not. If not, I'm going to have to find someone to share it with me, as I will not allow myself to eat an entire pumpkin pie to myself. No way!

october thirty-one

I didn't take Sean to his swimming lesson this morning because his cough was still there. I really hope it goes away soon. It doesn't even sound bad. It's just still there. I hate this time of the year, everyone seems to get sick.

This morning we hung out in the playroom a bit, I did a bit of work when Mack went for a nap. At one point I had all three boys napping at the same time... that was a really nice point during the day - complete silence.

My in-laws came over for a bit this afternoon to see the kids. It was raining when they got here and really icky outside, and even though I wasn't sure if kids would go trick or treating, I prepared treat bags:

I had 2 bowls, one peanut-free and the other with chocolate peanut treats. Just to be safe for any trick-or-treaters with allergies. Better be safe than sorry.

I prepared the bowls by the door, and waited for the bell to ring.

The sky was GORGEOUS after it stopped raining.
The rain stopping was a good sign that maybe trick-or-treaters would show up!

Before dinner, we had our first set of trick-or-treaters. Mack's best friend (in our frog costume) with his mom & older brother. Aren't they adorable??

I got the boys to dress up for a bit to answer the door to trick-or-treaters. I wasn't going out with them this year, as I didn't want them to get any more sick than they are. Sean's cough will for sure come back if I had taken them.

My mom & dad as well as sister came over tonight to bring Sean & Mack some goodies since they weren't going trick or treating tonight. That was very nice of them. They ate a little bit too much junk before bed, but they still managed to get to bed at a decent time - not too much of a sugar rush, thankfully.

There were only about 6 sets of trick-or-treaters over the entire evening. Very disappointing. Where are all the kids? Do they not go out anymore? We put up some halloween decorations, put out Sean's pumpkin and left all the outside lights on, plus visible lights in the front windows.

Tonight after the kids were in bed, we watched the Habs game. We won in a shootout 5-4 against Toronto. They wore really hideous outfits tonight on the ice, which they wore to the Feb 1st, 2009 game that I attended. It's a vintage uniform for the, quite ugly if you ask me.

I did some bloglines.com catch-up and am almost 100% up-to-date with my blog reading for those blogs I do read. It's quite nice actually to start being on top of everything and up-to-date. I still have a long list of things that I want to do now that both kids are in full time daycare, but slowly I am sure they will get done when I don't have to be working or in my class that I am taking.

To be honest, it doesn't really feel like halloween at all. Does it/did it to you?

october thirty

Mack was the first one in his costume this morning.

Of course now Mack is obsessed with hockey just like Sean is, and can't put the stick down.

Next, I managed to get Sean into his costume. That was a little more trickier. It took me about 15-20 minutes to get him to put it on. It took a little bribing to be honest.

I managed to get them to sit on the hallway stairs to take a few pictures.
I don't like picture with flash, so Sean liked the idea to go outside to take some natural pics.

The first few pictures were nice, but it took a few minutes before they warmed up.

I got some cute shots, and the boys warmed up to each other.

This is one of my new fave photos. My tiger & my lion.

And I love this one too.

Such cute photos. Halloween time rocks. I can't wait to get these printed.

This morning when I got Sean's daycare to drop him off the daycare Coordinator asked me to see her in her office after I left Sean off with his class. My first instinct was "oh no, what did Sean do...?" Well, it was actually good news. She wants to see my in her office on Monday, to talk about which of 2 dates Mack will start there! THIS IS AMAZING! No more 2 drop offs. I love it. It's going to make things so much easier. I am not going to say anything yet at Mack's daycare until I've signed the paperwork at Sean's daycare. Oh, this news made my day. When I go on Monday I will be prepared with all of Mack's papers (birth certificate, medical records, etc) so that I am prepared 100%. I want this all to go 100% smoothly. No derails, no delays.

Before I left to work I called Sean's daycare to make sure that he was okay to stay, and they assured me that he was doing fine, so I headed to work. Work was pretty relaxed today and I went to lunch with Jamie and our manager next door for some Chinese Food. The food was alright.

I did groceries on my way home from work, checking out a grocery store that I had never been to before. I only had a certain amount of time before I had to go pick up both kids. The groceries were needed for dinner, so I needed them then and I didn't feel like doing groceries with one or both kids. Taking them into a grocery store isn't so much fun these days. They both like to touch everything.

When we all came home, I did a dishwasher load just in time before our first guest showed up. We had 3 of Jamie's ex-coworkers over for dinner. One was really late, as she was coming from work not exactly in the area. We were all starving by the time she got there, and Mack was already in bed.

Dinner was nice. It's always nice to have guests over for dinner. We had Chinese Fondu and it was really good. I love it. Every time. Sean was pretty much well behaved, but wouldn't go to bed because there were people over. As usual. He's like that whenever people are over. Feels like he's going to be missing out on the party. I once had someone over and had to have them pretend to leave and go hide in the front foyer of the house until he was in bed, so that I could still hang out with them after he went to bed.

It was really nice to catch up iwht them. Only one of them 3 of them that came tonight still work at the company that they all used to work at together. So they did still talk shop a bit, and I felt a little left out when they did. I had no idea who any of these people are that they were talking about or any of the things about the job that they discussed. I still enjoyed myself, but I wish I could have contributed more to the conversation.

I am still looking for my 8121st commenter for my blogaversary contest (this is the prize, blogged yesterday), and if you want more information on sponsoring me for the knit-a-thon I am doing on November 14th (all night long!) you can check out my contest for that here. There are 4 prizes to be won! For every 10$ you donate you get 1 entry to win the prizes!
