Craigslist Funnies

I have a few ads on Craigslist for baby items for sale and one is for a baby sling.

I get this response on Monday for it:

Hello,

I am replying to you ad about the baby sling wrap. I have a girlfriend and she is a midget. I was wondering she is about 67 pounds will this hold her? I am for serious, T.

So I replied: This is for babies, not for adults.Sorry.

His response: Ok you have no right to tell me what to use it for. Please tell me if it is possible and I will purchase done deal.

My reply: It's not meant to carry 67 lbs. You can carry up to maybe 25-30 lbs in it. Thank you for your interest though.

I can't believe he even replied. Do people have nothing better to do with their time? It's a BABY SLING! On the BABY + KIDS section of craigslist!

And he replied back again: I will put her on a diet ASAP. when can I pick it up?

At this point I ignored his last email and stopped replying. But got my laugh for the day. I had to share this with you. I have nothing against little people or dwarfs and I don't like to use the word midget, please don't take me wrong on this one. I'm laughing at this person who has nothing better to do with his time not at the fact that he may or may not be dating a midget - as he so called wrote (his words, not mine). The sling is for a newborn up to 25 lbs or so - not an adult who is in a consenting relationship.

May 16 of 31

I spent the afternoon with my mom shopping off the island of Montreal at Carrefour Laval. There is a little yarn/sewing shop in there, and I wanted to see if I could find any yarn for a sweater I want to knit Sean, but most of it was Acrylic. (Eeechhh. Uuuuch! Ahhhhh! Pulling hair out). I did manage to find some interesting colored sock yarn by Phildar. Never seen this before, and it was inexpensive. Took care of a lot of returns today (thank goodness the girl at Walmart was patient and nice) and even exchanged Sean's bottle steralizer. We're on number 3 by the First Years. If this happens again, (burned plate), I'm writing a letter to the company.

Sean is back to himself. His nose is still a little congested, but he is feeling a lot better. Thank you to everyone who was concerned! It really means a lot to me. He's back to his daily dose of smiles.

Sean likes to have conversations. Today, while I was in the mall, he was having a conversation with 3 elderly people while my mom was entertaining him on the bench near the Telus boutique.

You see.... I managed to convince Telus to give me a 150$ credit towards a new phone, and I picked out a new phone. I was using my father's old phone, because my original phone that I got with my plan was busted. Whenever I'd end the call on my flip phone, whenever I'd close the phone (flip it back closed), it would shut down COMPLETELY instead of just end the call. So, I was going to use my father's phone until I was "allowed" an upgrade, near the end of my contract, but that phone wouldn't keep it's charge. So... I somehow got a new phone today for free. I just had to pay to transfer my line. Worth the 25$ plus taxes! I really wanted the Pink Razr, but for 300$ - 150$ credit, I wasn't spending any money on a phone today. So I settled for this tiny cute little Samsung phone with speaker phone (important).

My cousin Jenn is having her baby boy tomorrow. She's the first scheduled c-section of the day. I'll post information as I have it. I'm very excited to meet the baby. If all goes well, I may go tomorrow night, but that requires a baby-sitter, as babies are not allowed in the hospital unless a direct sibling, and Jamie has baseball at 7pm (providing there's no rain).

Hmm, what else today? This evening, I didn't end up going to my SNB. Angela cancelled and Kadi wasn't going - so I decided that due to the rain, I was going to stay in as well. I made pasta with my homemade meat sauce, and we watched TV. (Ottawa vs. Buffalo - hockey playoffs). I took care of some laundry, and during Lost, Sean threw up all over me. I love Sean, but that formula stuff almost made me throw up too... it wasn't smelling very good at all. When Sean was newborn, there was often a throw up session about 2 times a week. Over eating. Didn't know when to stop, and he just kept asking for food. It went on for about 2 months. Then a 2 month break. Then about 2 weeks ago, it happened again when we had company over. Fun. Then again, tonight. He was cranky this evening from lack of long naps today (20 minutes here and 30 minutes there don't count anymore - I'm talking he needs 2-3 hour naps, and sometimes he stays up all day and doesn't take any, and some days, he does take his naps. I guess it depends if we're home or not? I wonder if this is bad or not?).

I could swear that someone I went to professional photography school with was in the mall breastfeeding a newborn. I didn't want to approach her, but perhaps I'll email her (if I can find her email address) and see if it was her.

I found a new awesome magazine. (New to me anyhow!) Canadian Family Magazine. So I subscribed for a 2 year membership. It was about 19.95$ with taxes for a 2 year subscription. Did I say membership before? Bah... I'm tired.

Oh! Crazy story... (before I head to bed)... When I arrived home today from shopping with my mother, I was sitting in my car, engine still running, Sean was fast asleep (car rides more than 5-10 minutes will do that to him).... and I was on the phone with Jenn, talking about her upcoming c-section and stuff. Anyhow, this woman comes right up to my window. I smelled "WHACKO" before she even approached. Because she was starring at me, I opened my window a crack. This was our conversation:

Lady: Are you Jewish?
Me: Yes.
Lady: The Rabbi over there (points to a house I don't know), isn't home, and I've got a check for 40$ and I need the money, and he's with the Jewish community, and he's usually home to help, but he's not, so can you please cash my check for me, and give me the 40$. (Or something to this effect)....
Me: I don't think so. (And I close my window.

Does it say IDIOT on my forehead? I don't think so. Check is obviously fraud. I've "heard" of this happening before. I'm smart for being one step ahead of this lady.

She starts asking people walking on the street. Then... this is what made me laugh. She goes and stands at the stop sign at the end of my 3 house block (there are only 3 duplexes on either side of the street from stop sign to stop sign) and she begins to tap on windows of people stopping at the stop sign. Random people. And then I don't know what happened to her, but I hope she didn't get into someone's car, and convince them to cash her check. I feel bad for anyone who fell for that.

I forgot to tell Jamie this... he'll get a kick out of it, I'm sure. This is the first time I've had a strange woman roaming in front of my house. Freaky.

No knitting today. I took a break. Much needed too, I was speed knitting the other day, and I swear my joints were killing by the end. I'm so close to being done Jamie's socks... by the weekend I'm sure.

My sound card on my computer is busted and I'm getting pop-up windows like mad. I think I'm going to bring my computer to my father's store tomorrow, and get it looked at. I know Jamie will love to see Sean for a bit, or even my sister, while I get my computer fixed. I also want to relax tomorrow. I'll I've been doing lately is running around. I need to breathe. I'm not sure if I'm going to go tomorrow night or Friday to the hospital to see Jenn & her new baby, but whenever I do go, I need a babysitter... so we'll see. I'd also like to take Sean swimming. So many wants....

I've also decided for the month of June (starting with ONE month), I'm not going to spend any money on personal stuff for myself (or Sean - he doesn't need anything at all)! I'm only going to spend money on food. I want to see if I can go one month without spending money. If Sean needs diapers, that's 1 exception. But no book ordering, yarn shopping, lipgloss buying for me. My only exception to spend money is to mail the stitch marker exchange packages for the summer swap, but I have a roll of stamps so I may not even have to spend money! Hmmm! I'm mailing out my final package to my SP10 pal the last week of May, so it gets to her in June, so I want to see if I could go one month.... no spending money. You think I can do it? I think I can! And it's even my birthday month... but I've been spoiling myself crazy lately, that I do not need to buy myself any more birthday treats... that's for sure! That's my challenge!

Lost: Found.

So I've been searching my home for the last week and a half or so, for 2 missing bras. Yes, you read correctly - BRA.... x2. Two good ones that I bought myself in my new engorged size (that I'm not happy about because if they get any bigger I will have to go to a speciality store, because normal sotres don't carry bigger than what I am now - oy - and well - these 2 bra's, that I purchased before my trip - actually - purchased for the dress to my cousin's wedding (I was a bridesmaid), and had one of the two bra's fitted to fit in the dress, so that I would be comfortable the entire night).

Anyhow, these 2 bra's..... I know I wore them in Europe. I couldn't say that I had seen them since I've been back (which has been over a month now - Sept 23 - Oct 28th) and I just couldn't figure out where they were.

They weren't in my bra drawer (I have 1 small drawer dedicated just for my bra's, mostly Victoria Secret hand-me down's of bra's my sister has ordered from catalogues (we dont have Victoria's Secret here in Canada, well not in my province anyhow) and it wasn't in my sock drawer accidently or even my underwear drawer (yes, I have a drawer dedicated to each one individually). Anyhow, I even checked to see if it could have fallen out (behind) of the bra drawer, maybe it fell into the storage below. Nope. I checked through and inbetween all the clothes I owned, maybe I washed them and they got folded between some clothes. Nope. I checked Jamie's closet and underwear drawer, for the same reason, maybe it got washed with his stuff, (I do all laundry together) and maybe it was in between two of his items. Nope. I checked downstairs in the laundry room (which now resides next to my office) several times, and it wasn't there. This has been going on all week. It couldn't be in the kitchen, nor in the dinning room, definitely not in Sean's room (there's like nothing in there except furniture and some clothes for him) and well, this has been going on for over a week. Frustrated, last night, at like midnight, lying in bed, laughing about it with Jamie, as I would love to wear one of my new bra's today to the baby shower and actually feel comfortable.... in something that actually fits, rather than something that's just a little too tight.... I decided to check all three suitcases that we brought with us to Europe.

And guess what? The bras were in there. With a book I didn't even realize I hadn't seen, with some pantyhose shorts, and my Havannah flip flops, that I didn't realize were missing either. LOL.

I can't belive Jamie packed up the suitcases without checking to make sure that I had emptied all of them COMPLETELY.

Now I'm not blaming this on him at all - it could have been my fault too, I could have told him that I was done with the suitcases - that's very possible too - I just don't understand how I overlooked that section, it was not a closed pocket, it was in the mesh bag (see through) part of the interior of the suitcase!

I'm blaming this on pregnancy brain. It's an excuse for real, you know!

Anyhow, my bras are back safely in their drawer, and we can all go on with our lives now. Back to regular scheduled programming later.

I Have Knitting A.D.D.

This morning I once again did NOT make it to the Deep End Aqua class offered at my local Y. Waking up and making it there (around the corner) for 10:35 am (in the pool) was just not working for me. So I slept in until about noon. I got up, and decided that I HAD TO learn how to make a tissue cozy - right there and then. Still in my pj's and still with messy hair and morning breath - I took out the material that Cynthia sent me and took out the tissue cozy that Cynthia actually once made me in a previous swap - and came up with this:

I am pretty damn impressed with myself, and my use of a sewing machine (improving daily!) I love using my machine, and just can't stop wanting to use it. (Don't worry - my knitting will always come first in my heart - but sewing - wow - who knew I had it in me?) Anyhow, I love the little knitting fabric cozy, the fabric with Cynthia herself designed and had printed onto fabric. (Tres cool!) Well, the amount of material that Cynthia sent me - was the most perfect amount for this cozy. Too bad there was none to spare - it would have been awesome to do more with this AWESOME fabric. Well, now that I can make a tissue cozy on my own (I even printed a "pattern" for one, but it was for PUFFS, which are a much bigger tissue pack thatn the standard sized ones, so I tossed it out).

Upon finishing my tissue cozy, Angela showed up. I got ready and we headed out to the west of the island, first stopping at Fabricville. Apparently one is opening on Decarie, right around the corner from me, but there is nothing about it on their website, and there is no email address for them on their site - so I can't even contact them to find out - and no one in the store knew when it was opening. I got some cute fabric there - some for Sean (some seseme street material that I don't know what I am going to make with it yet) and some other material for me, and some for some needle cases that I think I want to make and try selling on Etsy.

Ok, wanna hear weirdness????? I'm at Fabricville filling out a membership (which in the end I didn't need because my I.D card from the college I just graduated from - apparently gives you the equivalent to the membership - seeing as though it's a fashion school. And the fact that I've graduated was not asked, and the fact that I didn't attend the fashion school but instead graphic design, was not asked either - so what information they don't know - saved me 15$ for a membership, and still saved me money!) I'm all for saving money! Anyhow, but before my membership was cancelled off their records, I was filling out the membership page, and who renewed her membership, TODAY of all days, and I just missed her in the store? Take a wild guess!!! My ex-boyfriend's mother - the one I contacted earlier last week about the quilting guild/classes/information! This is wayyyyy to weird. So it made me feel guilty for avoiding her last email, and I emailed her back tonight, telling her that I was at Fabricville today, and that I am only okay with us talking "quilt-talk" if it's okay with Eric (her son, my ex). I mean, she's a really nice woman, a breast cancer survivor, and a wonderful person with a good heart, but I won't feel comfortable talking to her, if her son isn't cool with it. He was the one who dumped me, after all, not wanting anything to do with me - but then again, that was over 6 years ago, in 2000, and well, we're older and wiser now. Let's see what she responds.

Angela and I hit up Walmart to see what they had in their fabric liquidation bin, and I ended up getting some fabulous material (Not in the liquidation bin, but anyhow) for a GORGEOUS quilt for baby Sean - I just have to figure out how to back it - it's pre-cut into quilt size, and the pattern on it - just gorgeous, I'll try to photograph it tomorrow. It's almost so gorgeous I'd want to frame it and hang it on his wall as a poster instead. Just wait til you see it!

We did a few other errands (I had a return to do - Angela was looking for professional work clothes for her new job (she got promoted - go Angela!)) and then when I brought her to the metro when it was time for her to leave, we stopped into the pharmacy, where there is a post office, and I mailed off my Booty Swap package - as it had to be in the mail by this Saturday, October 28th, and I wanted to make sure I got it mailed on time - I didn't want to have to use pregnancy-brain as an excuse for forgetting, LOL. It has been sitting wrapped/packaged for a few days now, and I wanted to make sure it got on it's way! I hope my partner Lissa likes her package, I told her to email me when she gets it (I forgot to photograph it - hopefully she will), and I will invite her to my blog once she gets it. Anyhow, at the Pharmacy I bought myself 3 face masks - I want to do one tomorrow - maybe it'll help my 3 pimples go away BEFORE my baby shower on Saturday. (I'm getting very excited to see everyone!). I bought a Calming Face Mask with Aloe Vera & Mint, a deep cleansing face mask with dead sea salt & seaweed, and an exfoliating treatment with cream & oatmeal. I think that the Deep Cleansing one with the dead sea salt & seaweed, will be the one I will use tomorrow, and the rest I will save for a time I need a calming feeling and an exfoliating one! LOL. I love face masks, but I never buy them for myself. They were 3/5$ instead of 1.99$ each, so I was like - Why not. Not much of a savings, but heck - it's my face! I might as well treat it once in a while to something that feels good! It's been ages since I've done a face mask. Oh, I love doing them!

So, after choosing the face masks, I went to go check out the knitting magazines, and just HAD to buy myself the latest issue of Vogue Knitting. I even cast on tonight, the scarf that is on the cover of the magazine: The Woven Trellis:

I found some similar thickness yarn in my stash, from the yarn fairy (back in February), and this is the color I am going with:

It's a German yarn, called Polo. I left the label upstairs, I'll give more information tomorrow when I photograph what I've knitted up so far. It's actually coming out the same size as what the pattern calls for with the Classic Elite Lush (angora/wool) yarn that they use. I just knew that I was not buying more yarn to make this project when I have plenty of yarn at home. So, I also decided, that for the braids, I'm thinking about incorporating this yarn into the knitting:

This MilleFili Fine Yarn, was also a gift from the Yarn Fairy. It's actually really beautiful (photographs nicely, but not as nicely as it is in "real life"). It's super fine, so it may be just the right added touch into the scarf, so it's not just one solid color. What do you think? Your opinion counts - even though I'm the one that is going to wear it! (Man I love making scarves for myself!) What I love about this scarf, is the braids in it. It's actually knitted in strips and then braided afterwards!
What is sad - is that I have knitting A.D.D.. While I still have another scarf started, and my socks to close the toes (one sock is 2 rows away from grafting and the other sock has to be decreased before grafting), and Clapotis also almost ready for the final decrease section, I'm really bad, and can't commit to finishing one project, that I need to have a few projects going so that I don't get bored. Does this ever happen to you??? I think that's all the projects I have on needles right now, I can't think of any others.... for now, anyhow! Woven Trellis pictures tomorrow, promise!

Disturbing Pregnancy Items

What a strange baby shower gift item. I found this online:

What a unique gift for anyone expecting! Pregnant lady keychain stands about 3" tall. It is made of a sturdy clear plastic. The baby "floats" around inside the tummy and can be "delivered" (removed).

WEIRD!

The Cats Missed Us

The cats missed us while we were away, and they have been VERY chummy with one another recently. I guess they took the 2 weeks we were on our honeymoon to bond! I found them cuddling on our bed last night before going to bed, so I had to snap a photograph.

Zeus was enjoying the fresh air in the window in the soon-to-be baby’s room:

What I don’t get - are people who go on vacation, and take pictures of the scenery - for memories - with their cell phone!

HOOOOOW in god’s name are they supposed to get print ready photos??? I guess not everyone needs their photos 8MP like I do! LOL… I just find cell phone photography to be really weird. It does NOT tickle my fancy.

In knitting news, I’ve been working on the baby v-neck cardigan for baby S. It’s coming along great, and I need to start my first button hole soon - I’ve never done a button-hole before, but for this project it’s just going to be a yo, k2tog. Which is great. (Simple).

Tonight, Nip/Tuck is on again… I finally caught up on the few episodes I missed while I was out of town (the premiere was the week before I left, so I missed 2 episodes). There is no way I will be able to keep my eyes open past 10pm, which is when the show will air, so I will either see if J can tape it for me, or I’ll download it online tomorrow. It’s pretty sick that any show you want to now… you can watch it when it airs or catch it online the next day. All major stations are doing that now… (NBC, ABC… etc….) Technology! It’s great!

Jet lagged I still am! (And hoping this cough goes away)…

How Many Sleeps 'Til Mcdonald's

My nephew has been counting down how many "do-do's" (how many times he has to go to bed at night) before he got to go to the big Mcdonald's with the playground and video games. Friday night, I took him to McDonalds, but at Walmart. He told me I was going in the wrong direction for the McDonalds that he wanted to go to. (How did he know "what direction"? I am still not sure, he's 3 years old, and doesn't live in Montreal, how could he possibly know?) Anyhow, here is our day, and our adventure at McDonalds.

This morning we got up and headed to my OBGYN appointment. Everything is great, and the baby is growing in the right direction. (Head was in the right spot, as well as where the feet should be at the moment. The doctor knows this just by checking my abdomen. I wish I knew how to feel what was going on in my belly, but all I feel is hard tummy forming!) Merlyn was a good boy at the doctor's office and told everyone he encountered that I am a good Aunt and I'm taking him to McDonald's today. (That's how exited he was about McDonald's).

After leaving the doctor's office, (and getting my "permission" slip from the doctor signed for my cruise (because I'm pregnant, I need permission to be allowed to cruise), we headed home to pick up the mail, and drop off something, and also pick up something that I had forgotten to take with me.

Our next stop was Zellers. I had a return to do, and then I wanted to look at a few things, and in the baby department, I discovered they had a maternity section. Not only did they have everything on liquidation (I guess to make way for the new fall stuff), everything on liquidation was 30% off. I had a field day. I ended up with a basketful of clothes (not sure how much of it I will keep as I didn't try anything on in store, I will have to try on at home (I don't like trying on stuff in stores, so as long as they have a return policy, perfect!) and ended up even getting some really cute maternity shirts and tank-tops for like as low as $2.10 - on sale from like 14.99$ originally, etc... Don't ask how cheap - I don't know. But good for me, saves me a lot of money and updates my lacking wardrobe!

After Zellers, we went to Acura, where I brought my car in for my first checkup. The first two check ups (8,000 Km and 16,000 Km) are free. The first one was pretty much an oil change and a filter change, etc. There was a small waiting area that was really comfortable (unlike the waiting area when I owned my Civic at Honda was cheap and cruddy and lacking), and there was a huge TV where Merlyn got to watch Zaboomafoo (sp?) and eat some Ritz Cracker Cheese Sandwhich snacks and behave himself. My car took shorter than I expected to be ready, (which is good) and I managed to cast on Jamie's 2nd sock. (And knit half of the first needle).

After Acura, I went over to my Wedding Photographer's house, which is where her office was just moved to, and picked up my frame for my wedding enlargement.

I hung it up as soon as I got home from being out. I think it looks fantastic above our bed! And the Sepia photo is just gorgeous. I love it. I discussed a bit of my wedding album with her (I'm finally going to sit down and order my photos once school's out next Friday) and I'm debating whether to go with the traditional old style album, or with the new digital album. They're gorgeous the new albums and you can stick in 75 photos instead of the old tradition 50-60 photos. So you get more, but the price difference is a little higher. But it's gorgeous, and I think I want to go "digital" album - rather than traditional. You know?? We'll see what happens when I go back with my 75 images picked and decide.

After Wendy's, we headed to McDonald's, to meet Jamie for lunch. The parking lot was a zoo, and took me forever to get a spot. I think it was because people in the area still had no power due to the weather, and so every mother with her kids were at McDonalds for lunch and to play, because they couldn't stay home.

Eventually we got our food and sat down and ate. And then, after lunch, Merlyn got to play in the playground at McDonalds. Jamie stayed for a while, and then headed back to work.

Merlyn got his fix of video games at McDonald's - that's all he's been talking about!

I love how cute he looks in this picture!

I even got ONE complete row knitted (K2 P2) while Merlyn played. (Can you see the lovely McDee's slide in the background behind my knitting?)

I even made a little girl cry (she was probably just around a year old). She was going to push my drink over onto the floor, and all I told her was "No, that's not yours, please be careful" and she burst out in tears. How else was I to react to her reaching out for my diet coke? I had paid for it, it wasn't my kid, or even my relative, and it was hot and muggy and I didn' want to waste an entire glass of coke.

After Mcdonalds, we headed to the LYS by there and I used up my gift certificate that Jamie got me for my birthday. They were having a sale on some stuff, so I picked up a ton of stuff for the value of my money! I got some nice stuff, and I can't wait to use it. (More yarn to add to my stash! LOL) I'll photograph it later, too exhausted right now!

While at the LYS it started to pour. Boy was it nasty. All we had was Merlyn's spongebob umbrella, so I picked him up and carried him to the car running both trying to not get wet. It was nasty.

He fell asleep on the way home, and I put him to bed upon getting home. He slept for a good two hours, and was still ultra cranky upon getting up.

Thank goodness I had Angela over at that point and we were heading out to go knitting (I should have been at home doing homework, but decided that I deserved 2-3 hours to myself to go knitting). I worked on seaming the blanket that I knit for Charity, and when I'm done seaming, I'll take a picture of the final product. I also have to single crochet around the edge of the blanket with the leftover yarn. I think it came out really nice.

Knitting was fun, and I stayed a little longer than I should have (because now I'm beyond zonked) but it's all good. It was much deserved time for ME. I am sure going to miss ME time when I have the baby! But that's okay, I've come to understand that I will be giving up my time!

Alright, bed time. Night.

Weird Coincidence!

So you want to hear a funny situation??!!! RANDOMLY and completely BY FLUKE I sent my SP pal the EXACT same 2 balls of yarn that she sent her Secret Pal! How random and coincidental that is!!! We both bought Plassard "Frange" yarn (shown in my May 19th post - showing what I sent her).
How FUNNY is that?

At first, as I mentioned, I was totally confused, and upon talking with my pal, we discovered what a fluke it was. She told me that she was also shocked herself, and boy - is that crazy, or what???!!

I have never seen a fluke like that before, it's just too ironic!

I guess great minds think alike - right??

Going to go eat dinner (I need to go pick it up - Mmmm Chinese food!!) and I'll blog later about my day at the yarn shops!

Feeling Better Today...!

I am feeling a lot better today, about a lot of things. First off, 2 exams are done, and 4 assignments are now handed in. 2 more assignments to finish (tomorrow) and 3 more exams. Thurs morning's exam will be easy, Thursday afternoon's a tad tougher and Friday morning's will be a joke.
I got a preview of my schedule for next semester, courtosey of our coordinator Phillipe, and so far, he's missing one class that he doesn't know when it will be - BUT so far - I HAVE FRIDAYS OFF FROM SCHOOL. FRIDAY'S! GO ME AND MY LONG WEEKEND. Also, my birthday happens to fall during next semester, on a Friday! That would be so nice not to have to go in for my birthday. I really don't mind school Mondays to Friday. That's fine by me. And as of now we start Monday's at 1pm. Wow - this is the life! REALLY.
My morning exam this morning in photoshop was a complete joke. 9 questions, 2 to be done in Photoshop - which she corrected one part already on screen in front of us, and I got 6/6 on it - GO ME. And, the rest, I'm sure I did very well on. I know I may have gotten 1 or 2 mistakes, at max 3 mistakes, but I'm guessing I will end up with 18/20, which is worth 20% of my final grade. I am doing a lot better in my photoshop class than I thought... Phew. I am sure I won't get a high high mark, but I am sure I am doing okay.
Then in my HTML class - this afternoon, what a joke. I handed in my assignment, and wrote the exam. I was the first one done the written part of the exam, which I'm sure I got at least 13/15 (but it's only worth 5% of our final grade) and I am not sure what the second part of the exam is worth, but we had to create a website in Dreamweaver, using a layout that he had given to us - we had to slice it - do rollovers in dreamweaver, and also have 3 pages. One page had text and an image. The second page had text and an image. The third page had text and the titles of the text if you cliked on them had to open an image up in an i-frame on the right hand side of the screen. We were allowed using notes, so I got that done pretty efficiently and did a very nice job. Thanks to Angela though - a friend - who helped me out and actually showed me how to use dreamweaver, because my teacher was useless and I didn't get very far learning from him.
This afternoon I had my job interview with a local photographer. Anyhow, I wasn't too impressed with him, and his wife, who isn't a photographer, sat with us the entire interview, what a weird lady, with a very weak handshake (shook their hands upon coming in, and leaving as well). I felt like if I did my regular handshake, I'd break her hands.... Anyhow, Shira, whom I went to photography school with - but who is graduating now, as she took a year off) works there, and was there today, when I showed up. Daniel, whom I actually graduated with - works there and is going from full time to part time - that's why they need to hire a full-timer. I was under the impression that they were willing to hire a part- time, that's why I sent in my CV. But they aren't. So, we'll see what happens.
Anyhow, this evening, Jamie's friends Michel & Louise (whom we sat on Saturday night) came by to look at our backyard and start making plans for the weekend and all the work that needs to be done in the backyard. I've booked 2 people to show the apartment to this weekend - one to a guy named Adam from Toronto, he's a web site guru or something, lives with his dog - and is looking for a place to live/for his home office. I wonder if a 6 1/2 will be too big for 1 person, but it would be nice and quiet for a change, maybe. I think Adam is coming on Friday to see the place. Saturday, I have someone who called me today, coming to look at it - his name is Collin. I really hope that I get a lease signed soon, I don't want to have to think about it anymore. I just want to go on living life, and not having to worry about renting out my apartment for July 1st.
After dinner I kicked my butt over to the gym. I did 30 minutes on the elliptical - I love that machine, while listening to my music. I then started in the abs room, where I started a bit on my routine from the trainer. In the middle of my routine, a guy, named Gino - started telling me that he likes my shoes. Asked where I got them, and then kept on talking to me. It took me a while to realize I was being PICKED UP! It's been a while since that has happened to me, being married and all - but it was very flattering. He asked me what I did today - I was being nice, so I told him I was at school, and did 2 exams, and he told me that I looked like I had a good head on my shoulders and that I was very smart. He also told me that he likes my dimples (which come out only when I smile or blush!) He told me that he thinks I have a good sense of humor, etc... He asked me how long I've been coming to the gym, etc.... We talked about the trainers a bit. During conversing, I tried to do my routine in the abs room, but it was getting to be distracting, so I started to leave, and he said - "So is that it?" and I was like "What do you mean?" and he's like "Will I get to see you again?" And I was like "I work out here, you'll see me around" and he was like "Is that it?" and I'm like "Well, I'm married, so I don't know what you want from me..." and walked away.
WEIRD.
But yet, flattering.....
I definitely would not have given this guy my number... that's for sure. Not even to be friends.....
Too creepy! But I didn't mind making small talk with him a the gym.
Serves me right for going to the gym at 8:30pm, instead of earlier when it's crowded business people and everyone minds their own business!
I did some more of my routine, not 100% all of it today as it really tired me out, and then headed home.
I told Jamie abou this and he finds it amusing I think. I am not even flattered - this guy was creepy.
Now I'm going to go hop into a shower, and hop into bed.

Odd Things & People & The 20$ Find

After waking up this morning, my cousin Jenn called to confirm our date today to go to the Downtown Montreal Knitting Meetup. I had never been and we both read each other's minds yesterday and decided to go today. While on the phone this ebay seller's name came up: The-Mohairknitter. Oh my! Oh my. Oh my! This suit below - sells for 480$ US and actually sells! The seller has 1200+ positive feedback and 600+ unique positived. Some people have leather fetishes and I guess some people have mohair cat suit fetishes.

This should be classified as WHAT THE HECK WAS SHE THINKING?

Then while surfing ebay I found this:

Princess Leah
...and Darth Vader.

....WEIRD. But this is kinda cute. I'd never personally dress my pet up - but hey, I know people who do - and just laugh at them (my mother used to dress up our family GREAT DANE! (I need to post pictures on Flickr of the photoshoot I did with my parents' last Great Dane Tyson. But I was mimicking William Wegman's style of photography for a school project - so I have a SANE reason for dressing up a dog.)

Jenn came by, I wasn't ready yet - due to stuff I was doing for school (a little bit) this morning, and quickly got ready once she got here. We left, and headed to the shopping center near my house. First stop was the post office as I had to mail 2 packages for 1 swap I am in (the Card Making Kit Swap (which I posted a photograph of yesterday) and I found a TWENTY DOLLAR BILL just laying there - near the post office. I asked the girl at the cash if it was anyone's and since it's finders keepers - I took it. HA! I made 20$ this morning! Couldn't believe it. Who knows who dropped it - but it looked as though it had been sitting there for a while - so it was my lucky day. With that - I paid for lunch for Jenn & I, and Jamie had requested a sandwich from Tim Hortons (where we ate quickly) and I quickly headed back home to drop off Jamie's lunch and quickly pick up something else and we headed on our way to the Downtown Montreal Knitting Meetup.
I had a good time today there, meeting a LOT of new people, and seeing some friendly and familiar faces.
I STARTED TURNING THE HEEL ON MY FIRST SOCK TODAY! Ain't she a beauty? I love it! I love it! I love it! And I love my progress!!!
Jenn and I stayed longer than we thought, I thought the knitting meeting was from 1-3pm, but I guess it's for however long you want to be there - and we were there until about 4:30pm, when this homeless lady sat down next to Jenn & I - at a table that we had our stuff in - which Kadi (another knitter was sitting at - but she moved to say hello to girls on the other side of the tables). Now, this table was cornered by a wall and THE ENTIRE cafe was dead with no one in it practically - WHY did she HAVE to sit next to us - with her huge duffle bag, her plastic bags and wet coat and wet umbrella. First off, she SMELLED like she hadn't showered in 2 months, and after sitting down, she stuck her hand into her jacket, scratched one armpit excessively, and then moved onto the next armpit. That was my cue to leave.... so Jenn & I left ... as other knitters were slowly trickling out anyhow. I had to get home, as I have a project due tomorrow (which I just finished before - I am pleased with it - it's my stationary with my logo on it - business card and envelope as well).
Just finished watching the Season Premiere of Sopranos with Jamie & his friend Daniel. I guess Daniel got here some time during the afternoon while I was at the knitting meetup. Soprano's was sooo good tonight. Can't wait for next week.
Zeus likes sleeping in the "Corners" of my office. So cute.

I Used Your Razor To Shave My Back

"I used your razor to shave my back."
This is what Marcelos said to me last night as we were standing in the hallway in my house before going to bed. Daphne & him were trying to figure out their plans for today, and I was getting annoyed. Marcelos thought this statement was funny, but I didn't unfortunately.
Who is this guy and why is he this retarded?
Here's how my day went by yesterday. 9:45 am we picked up Marcelos from the Montreal airport, and then we stopped at the Orange Julep so that they can try the orange juice there. They treated me to an orange juice. That was very nice of them. Then we headed back to my house, and Marcelos settled in while I cleaned my bathroom, emptied the garbages for Garbage day, and cleaned up my office a little bit. Then eventually we booked their hotel in Quebec City and then went out for lunch. I couldn't think of a single place to take them, so I just ended up going back to Tasty Foods (my personal favourite) for lunch. Something about Marcelos starting bothering me during lunch and just made me want to get away from him.
After lunch, I filled up on gas, and then drove up Mount Royal to the "look out" point. They got out of the car, took some pictures, and I sat in my car, until they were about done, and I got out to take a picture of the 2 of them with the view. Took a few pictures, and then we got back into the car and drove off. Next stop, I went to St. Joseph's Oratory (after getting lost a little - turned on the wrong street). Anyhow, we got there eventually, I took some pictures of them standing outside of the Oratory, and then they wanted to go in, so I sat in the car and wrote a letter to my friend Miriam in Toronto, just to have some alone time. I wish I had brought the blanket that I am currently crocheting, but I am glad I at least had paper and a pen to write a letter.
After the oratory we headed downtown, and sent them off on their way. They wanted to do a little bit of shopping in the mall I dropped them off at - and then I gave them directions downtown and my address so they can tell the cabby where to bring them back (I wasn't going back out again - call me a bitch if you want - but I just wasn't getting out of my pj's to go downtown). I spent the evening watching episodes of LOST on DVD. And doing stuff in my office which doubles as my craft room.
I was shocked that they stayed out as late as they did - but they said they got home early because it was cold out. They did end up taking a taxi back - even though I said that if they took the metro to the stop near my house I'd get them. I did my own thing while they TRIED figuring out where they were going today. Then before bed, we were talking in the hallway, and that's when Marcelos made his comment.
We talked a bit, then I went to bed.
This morning I slept in until their taxi driver rang my bell. I have no idea where they went, but I said polite goodbyes, Daphne reassured me that they had a good time and well, I hope they have a safe rest of their trip.
Well, back to LOST and I'm working on my blanket that I'm crocheting. Hoping to finish it tonight. Tomorrow I will do some homework, and my parents have invited us over for dinner (Jamie & I). Gotta marinate my chicken wings first, for dinner.

Strange Delivery Guys

Class was a waste of time. I handed in my assignment at the beginning of class, but I had already finished the assignment that was due today, so I didn't need the class period to work on the project like everyone else in the class who didn't come prepared.

Came home, did a few things around the house, responded to some emails and then headed off to the gym to work out for an hour. I felt so great after going, even though it took some motivation to actually get my ass there!

After the gym, Jamie & I ordered dinner. When it got here, Jamie signed for it - since we put it on his credit card and after the guy left, 30 seconds later our doorbell rings. It's the delivery guy asking if we made a mistake on the tip - asking for more money? WHAT THE HECK? Jamie closed the door in the guy's face. He didn't like what Jamie tipped him - so he asks for more? I've never seen this before, definitely very strange.

We watched 24 at 9pm - boy am I glued to my seat (at the edge of it) for the full hour every week. I can't stop watching it - and hate that there is a week in between!

Well, I should get to bed. Early class tomorrow.

Hopefully Valentine's Day tomorrow will be a more pleasant day - minus my two exam/quizzes! Ugh! (WHICH I DID STUDY FOR! While on the machines at the gym -lol!)

No More Skim Milk?

Before class I had time to do an errand - so I went by Zellers and did my return there. I also decided to take a look to see if they had any nice women's winter driving gloves - and they did, so I went to go buy a pair, fully expecting to pay full price - $14.97 for a pair, and when I got to the cash, the cashier gave me my total - $8.61 - they were 50% off. So, because I have a bad habit of LOSING gloves or getting holes in them (both happened to my 2 good pairs this winter - one incident to one and the other to the other pair) and so I ran and picked up 2 more pairs, and now I have TWO pairs of extra gloves, (they're sexy driving gloves, I love them) and so I have BACKUP for the next hole, or the next lost glove. (Knock on wood!)

I swung by Starbucks on my way back to class, as I had a coupon from my friend Miriam for a free drink. I asked the guy at the cash what I could get with it - he said, anything, any size. PERFECT. So I had a venti Chai Latte with Soy. Pretty damn good. It was! And free! Thanks Miriam!

Class went by pretty good, I spent the entire time working on drawing the Canadian Government building, fun fun. This is what it looks like so far (not finished). But I'm very impressed with what I've come up with so far. Basically I have to create a coin for my Visual Communications class showing how I feel about the Canadian Economy. Well - do I have an idea! We'll see if I can realistically do it - and I'll post a picture of the final product.
On my way home I tried to pick up my green purse that I had in the shop to get fixed, but it was not ready. Was a little bit annoyed, because he said it would be ready by the end of last week. Why has everyone and everybody been off guard lately. Anyhow, he said it would be ready for tomorrow, so I'll swing by on my way home from class tomorrow, same time.
Did groceries after that, walked around the grocery store asking myself "WHAT DO WE NEED?" Uhm, everything! Our fridge was quite empty. We have non-perishable items, but it was starting to get to the point where there was nothing to have the non-perishable food items with. Some things you just can't eat alone, or just wouldn't.
Walking around the grocery store, I couldn't figure out where the skim milk had gone to. The last time I bought milk, I thought I was buying skim, but indeed it was 0.01%. Well - went to the spot where my skim milk used to be - same bottle, same colour, etc... but I guess that well - SKIM in the title doesn't exist anymore. It is now called 0.01%. What is that? Why change it all of a sudden - out of nowhere? Was there a poll? Do people perfer it being called 0.01%? I wonder.
I am so happy that I've now added the stationary bike into my routine at the gym. I now have between 20-30 minutes (depending on how long I choose to ride) to read. I love it. At least that's an hour and a half each week of reading. Hopefully more, as I'm trying to find more time in my life to sit down and read.
After getting home, I relaxed for a little bit and then made tacos for dinner, along with Jamie's help. They were delicious and really hit the spot. It's exactly what I wanted.
Jamie and I watched 24, which was REALLY GOOD once again, while I crochet a bit and worked on a blue/green shaded blanket/afghan that I'm working on, for a small child, or baby. Haven't decided yet.
So it's been confirmed. The girl from Brazil that is a goddaughert of my family there, is 21 years old - cool. I will email her tomorrow and let her know that she is more than welcome to stay with me, I just need to know further details on her travels. She speaks English and is coming to Toronto to do a 2 week English class to improve her English, and then she can't come to Canada without visiting Montreal and her godmother's wonderful family. I am the closest in age to her, that has the room to have her stay over, and so that's what the whole thing was the other. Yes - it was a little bit imposing, but it's cool - I'd love to meet her, and show her around the city.
So my sister's Canon Rebel XT came in, and she will have it first thing tomorrow, however mine didn't arrive, and so it will come tomorrow and she'll overnight it to me. And instead of a 512 meg card CF card that was coming with the auction, she upgraded the cards to 1 gig cards. (That's nice of her, and it will be much more useful with an 8mp camera! ) I can't wait to get my new toy. Oh, I can't wait! And I have someone lined up to purchase my camera, so I am really happy about that - let me tell you! It's always exciting to get a new toy!
