3.15.11 :: 15 weeks & 219 weeks old

15wksQ

Quentin is 15 weeks old today.

219wksS
Sean is 219 weeks old today.

Items found in Mack's bed this morning: 1 plastic kid spoon, 1 spongebob baseball glove, 1 Fisher Price Digital Camera, a handful of books, 6 stuffed animals, 1 poker chip, 8 silly bandz and 1 play hammer. Sometimes I wonder why he needs to sleep with some of these items, and what goes on in there after lights out.

I've been doing a little bit of crochet since I can't show you my current in progress design (sock pattern I'm designing for that sock club I got asked to do). I did finish not one, but 2 crochet hats...

SPECS
:

Pattern: Crochet PomPom Baby Hat by Nikki Kirkwood (My Ravelry Link Hat 1 & Hat 2)
For: Photography Props
Yarn: Patons SWS (Soy Wool Stripes)
Hook: 10.0 mm (N/P)
Size
: Newborn and 3-6 months size
Timeline: March 14, 2011 (about an hour each)
Modifications: For the newborn size, I chained the 28 as it called for, but I added the extra round that the 3-6 month size calls for in the pattern as I found without it, it was preemie size. Yarn was held double stranded on both hats.
Notes: The first time I tried this, I had the wrong yarn (handspun) and the wrong hook size. I went down one hook size and found more suitable yarn. It was more pleasant to work with when I finally had it better. Very cute pattern. Super easy to make. I want to make boy colored ones too. Now I just need to find a baby girl to photograph modeling these hats.
