september thirteen

This morning I picked up Madeleine and we headed (with Mack) to the Roxham Wool Gathering near Hemingford. I was meeting up with a supplier to take a look at something, and went in specific to get something from a certain vendor. Yarn was bought, good conversation was had, and Mack was an angel the entire time. There was half of what there was last year, but I managed to pick up 2 really nice cloth bibs for the boys. I'll have Sean model them for you to see. The yarn, I didn't get a chance to photograph today, so that will have to be in tomorrow's post.

See - Mack was an angel. He slept most of the trip. Not really sure why there is actually a suss in his mouth, since most of the time he spits it out. I'm just not sure my boys are into the suss thing. Sean spat it out at around 7-8 months old, and hasn't touched one since. Mack usually spits it out... which isn't a bad thing. Maybe he won't get attached to one either, but I have some just in case.

Last night Mack went to sleep at 10 pm, so after blogging I went to bed. I had to be up really early today to leave to Hemingford, so I am glad I got to bed when I did. Mack actually slept in until 6:30 am this morning, and I am super happy about that. Every day it's getting better and better, though he's still sleeping in the swing at night. (Which I'm okay with, as he's actually sleeping). I've been going to bed really early all week and I'm starting to think that going to bed early is a good thing, even though I'm a night owl. Maybe I'll just have to become a morning person instead.

After leaving the small event, Madeleine treating me to lunch (thank you again!) and then I dropped her back off at home. I stopped off at Chapters on my way home, since I had some free time still, and walked around there a bit, picked up a few books with a gift certificate I had, and then headed home.

This afternoon Mack wasn't in a good mood and screamed for about 3 hours. He just didn't want to eat, didn't want to be burped or had already burped, was in a clean diaper, was in fresh clothes, and he just didn't know what he wanted. So I finally got him to sleep, after a lot of crying, on me, so I took a nap as well. This is the first time I've napped in the longest time. I miss napping. If only I didn't have a million things to do while both boys sometimes nap at the same time, then I'd actually get to nap.

This evening Jamie and I had a nice BBQ steak dinner, and then we watched the movie Baby Mama. I was supposed to watch it with my sister (sorry Amy!), but it just never happens when we're together, and Jamie saw it in the list of queued movies, and was like... "Let's watch it..." I couldn't believe he actually wanted to watch it - but we both enjoyed it. It's a funny comedy, and I like both Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

I've been working on the test knitting that I'm doing and it's coming along great now. I'll be able to show you that in about 2 week's time ish. October 1st.

I've come to the realization that I don't think I'll ever be able to clean out my email inbox. There are over 1100 emails in my inbox, and everytime I bang a few off to reply, more come in. It's crazy. I barely have time on the web anymore. I make time to do business stuff, my business email is clean, under control, all emails are replied to in a timely manner. But as far as my personal inbox, I apologize, I'm not that good with communication lately. Maybe one day I'll get back on track and catch up. I won't be deleting any emails until I reply to them.... so maybe after Sean starts daycare and gets to interact with other kids, I'll have some time to catch up on that. But the blog reading... I'm so far behind, that I think I've given up. I have a few blogs that I do keep up with (I'm sorry right now if you're not Amy, Jenn, Rhoda, Bea, Tara, Cynthia, the Yarn Harlot (I read but never comment, she must get overwhelmed with comments, right?), a swap pal I'm spoiling or in my SP12 group). I really hope one day I find the time to catch up on other people's blogs - but I just don't have the time right now. With a toddler and a newborn, I thought I'd still manage to find the time. But there's also family time, and knitting time, and crafting time, West Island Knit outings, and our busy schedule during the week with swimming that is starting this week upcoming, and Sean's class at the Y, and Mack's playgroup... I find that by the time Monday is started, it's Friday already, then the weekend goes by in a flash, and it's Monday all over again.... so if I don't comment, I'm sorry, one day hopefully I'll be back and you'll still be blogging. Though, if I manage to find some time, I will stop by your blog, but I can't promise that I'll comment. And a lot of the time that I'm reading blogs, I do get interrupted by a waking Mack or Sean who then wants my attention, so the computer gets left, and the post gets lost... and never gone back to. Maybe one day, when I'm a little more organized. Until then, keep posting, bloglines will save it for me! God bless bloglines, eh? And then there's Ravelry. I'm trying to upload my stash, but that's a huge job in itself. I'm getting a little bit done here and there, so eventually everything will get cataloged. But there is so much more to Ravelry that I don't get to see/do, because I just simply don't have the time. And I just don't understand those who do have all the time in the world to read blogs and surf Ravelry - when do you fit in chores and jobs and family time.... doesn't the internet end up taking away from that? So many hours are wasted daily on the web by many people, I'm sure. I sue the web for a lot of things like recipes, and getting advice on motherhood, etc. Some things I don't have answers to, I look up. It's a great tool...

The only real internet time (besides for my business) that I make is for my blogging. I've been journaling since the 6th grade, and I don't think I can go to bed at night without posting my thoughts. I find it's faster to type than write with a pen, since I'm a super fast typist - but with blogging I get to include photos as well. And I blog for my readers as well. I like having an audience. So hopefully you'll keep reading even if I can't be reading/comment on your blog right now.

Tonight I leave you with this super cute cartoon:

Both boys are sleeping, so I'm going to go catch some Zzzzzz's....!

ps - My sister is getting a puppy! He's super cute and he needs a name. I can't believe she's actually getting a dog!

You know, we all have priorities and deal with them in different ways. Some people ask why I don't blog - well I just don't have the time to. I have an elderly mother who is dependent on me, and a daughter in college, and a very demanding job that I love, that requires lots of travel which is exhausting. I rarely get home from work before 9, and the thought of rehashing my life for a lot of people I don't know is just not appealing.

So for relaxation, I log on and read a few knitting blogs, but almost never comment, maybe knit some.

I see that you're uploading your stash to Ravelry. Me, I couldn't be bothered - nor have I put any photos of my FO there. I only use it as a way of finding out about yarns for patterns.

Maybe one difference is our ages - all the social networking modalities came along relatively late in my life and so are not a natural part of it.

Just some thoughts - and I think I'll take a stab at your contest now. Hmmm are you close to done uploading???? I wonder :-)

I think most people do and should understand. It's hard to keep on everything.
Mack is adorable and I don't know how you do all that you do. God bless ya.

You know I don't worry about you not commenting on my blog or responding to my comments - no problemo.

By the way, I'm looking forward to the single sock syndrome swap, that was a great idea!

sorry to hear mack screamed for 3 hours--poor you and poor him! oh, i came to that realization long ago and I don't even have any lil ones to mind! like jennifer said, you don't have to respond to every email/comment I send (I'm guilty of this too though!!). I"m just now getting familiar with all the features of ravelry too. it can be addicting when you have the time for it.

Wow, I'm honoured that you chose my humble little blog to keep up with!

I've always admired your dedication to replying to every single comment and email, but at some point, it just snowballs out of control! You have every right to be selective about how much time you want to spend on the Web. It's great, but it can also become overwhelming!

And I'll let you in on a little secret: the only way I get to stay on top of my blog reading is because I do it at work! 5 minutes here, 5 minutes there, it really helps! Don't tell my boss! :)

I know how crazy you must be feeling. I've only been reading a few blogs regularly too. I just can't keep up with them. Plus with little ones around there's always a mess to clean up.
