september three

I'm pooped. Mack slept last night for about 6 hours in a row waking up at 6:30 am this morning. I fed him, he cooed and smiled at us in bed, Jamie did his morning routine/shtick and then came back into bed for about 10 minutes before actually getting dressed for work, and after about 10 minutes of cooing/smiling, I got Mack back to sleep and put him in his crib. Though, I couldn't fall back asleep. I did some blog reading catching up (slowly getting there, though I'm still very behind on my personal emails - need to do a huge catch up!) and some work, and got the day started at 6:30 am. Haven't done that in ages! Honestly, by the time I woke up both boys to get them dressed and ready to leave for the day, I had gotten so much done! I'm hoping that Mack gives me more 6 hour in a row shots of sleep - or even longer - I'll be a happy woman! Un-interrupted sleep is good.

Mack, though, has been very unhappy all day. Crying, not happy, unsure of what he wants, that sort of thing. Is hungry, isn't hungry, has gas, it's not gas, uh, sometimes I just don't know what he wants, and he just doesn't want to stop crying. I definitely don't think it's colic though, because colic is all the time - right? Mack's crying is here and there, not all the time. Does anyone know the name of or a link where I can get some white noise? Mack likes white noise. I'd like a CD or something that I can play for him in his room. He finds it calming when you just do "ssshhh-shhhh" in his ear while rocking him - does calm him.

This morning I ran an errand and ended up picking up my anniversary present from Jamie. I' in love with it. I'll post a picture tomorrow. I forgot to photograph it in daylight. (I hate flash). This afternoon I met up with Angela and ended up running about 25 more errands. It just doesn't end. Seriously. There is always something to do. It just seemed like everywhere we went, one of the two kids wasn't happy. It just was one of those days. And Mack spat up on me twice today, once while I was standing in line at Walmart to buy some fabric. So happy that the fabric didn't get hit with the puke... That would have not been so great.

I'm super happy to have gotten things on my to-do list checked off... but it just always seems like there is something to do. I guess I could say that life is never dull because we're always on the "go". Though, I'm not sure if being on the "go" is that good with a toddler and a newborn?

This evening I went knitting with the West Island knits and we had a good time. We were 8 of us. I didn't get to knit much as Mack was being very crabby tonight, but I did manage to start a new square on the blankie project. I also decided that the Crazy Ass Sock project, will be a Crazy Ass Scarf.... there is no way I'm weaving in so many ends..... so I'll make it a LONG tube and no weaving in ends will be necessary.

I'm beat. Been up since 6:30 am. It was a wildly hot day and I want to go crash in bed. Tomorrow some garden updates (I haven't been in my garden in 2 days, no idea what's doing out there!) and a picture of my anniversary present from my husband. Oh I love him! Must go put my head down on the pillow. It's calling my name.

Don't forget that my Three Day Labor Day Sale ends tomorrow night.
Everything is currently 20% off in store!

ps - It's Jenn & her husband's 2nd wedding anniversary today! Go on and wish her a happy anniversary! (It's also her hubby's birthday too! So he wouldn't ever forget their anniversary they picked that day!) HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

pps - Speaking of anniversaries, mine is coming up in 2 weeks, and I'm super excited. It'll be our 3rd wedding anniversary.

Google[R] for "white noise sleep aid", I got a page full. For instance:
"White noise CD - Sleep Aid CD Use instead of a white noise - sound machine - natural sound ...
www. xlhelp. com/ SleepCD/ SleepCD. htm "

Good luck!

Hey Robyn - sorry to hear that Mack is feeling rough some of the time - here's the classic definition (borrowed from www.askdrsears.com):
pediatricians tag an apparently healthy, thriving infant with "colic" if the baby follows what is called the "Rule of Threes." The episodes of inconsolable crying:

Begin within the first three weeks of life
Last at least three hours a day
Occur at least three days a week
Continue for at least three weeks
Seldom last longer than three months

Hope he sorts himself out soon :)
and hope you have a happy day - cheers - KTE

We use a white noise machine from Jean Coutu. It's a raindrop shaped small device (10" long?) that plays different nature sounds, plus heart beat and white noise, and we put it on auto timer for 1 hour every time we put Jakob down to bed. Reminds me I need to get another one for the new baby's room!
This is the one:

and we'd got it at JC about 3 years ago when Y's snoring started keeping me up.

Good luck! If you see it at JC or Pharmaprix, let me know, I need another! :)

Wow, you certainly do manage to get lots done in a day! I'm sure it'll get easier once Sean starts some kind of daycare program. Hang in there!

Sorry to hear Mack has been crying so much. I hope it isn't anything too serious, i.e. getting sick.

Can't wait to see your anniversary present!

Poor mack. My oldest was colicky and he cried all the time usually starting at 6 or 7 at night and lasting for several hours. We have used a fan in his room as white noise, and he still has to have a fan while he sleeps. It's not aimed at him only in the room so he hears the noise. Maybe mack is starting his teething thing early?
