february thirteen

This morning we were 1 of 7 mom & child sets that made it out to our music class. Because of the amount of snow we've gotten over the last 12 hours, (overnight pretty much), a lot of people didn't leave their house. So we had a small clas today, which was nice. Same thing at my swimming class today, only about half of us made it out, due to that crazy snow. The one piece swim suit that I got for Sean was a great success for this morning's class. I originally bought it for this morning's class (though he'll be wearing it on Tuesday for his class as well). The reason why I bought it for this morning's class is because he sits in a floatie half in the water and half out, and was always shivering by the end of the class. Today - no shivering. Mission accomplished.

This afternoon we met up with Alison and had some coffee/apple juice. I had an order to bring her, and she was kind enough to bring me a copy of Twelve Months of Knitting by Joanne Yordanou. There is a cute sweater (size 2) in there, that would look super cute on Sean! I however don't think I'll be knitting the bathing suit....

I had fun playing around with my camera is the car today. I love vantage point and angles.

Doesn't Sean just look super cute in his new Meathead Hat? I just love it. And I love the reaction it gets from people while we're out... I love telling them I made it! So proud! I know it's silly...!

Snow + stroller = don't mix. It was horrible out today. There was a massive snow fall since last night, and today, we had to run some errands on the way home and some parking lots were just not fully cleaned. It was so tough (and hard on the muscles) to push the lightweight umbrella stroller! Grrr! Snow snow go away.....!

While out doing my errands... I found this little baby.... My new fave office supply!

A post-it note book! Isn't it just the cutest thing ever? I just love it. And all the different sizes. I'm a post-it note lover. Any kind of post-it note... in any size.... love it!

I've been a bad girl, and forgot to photograph these sock leftovers that I got from Madeleine (and the ball on the right) from Melanie. Both are in my local Knitting groups and both are blogless. But a great big thank you to both of them for their leftover bits for the blankie! Ever last bit is absolutely appreciated - since I'm not repeating a single square twice in the blankie.

This lovely package came in the mail today (not all is shown, I didn't put duplicates in the photo). There was this lovely lady in the USA who sent me this lovely package of sock yarn. She has a group for a local church that knits socks to raise money for Charity. However, I left the paper upstairs in Sean's room and he's sleeping right now. I will post the information tomorrow for that cause - if you are interested in helping them out! Thank you again for sending me your leftovers. Some are pinks - and they will go into the bag for a future baby girl blankie (hopefully for baby number 3!) Right now I've got some knitting to do - but I will never refuse any leftovers if anyone has... I think I have to do more than the 83 squares to make the blankie square. I've been looking at it - and I don't think that the 83 will be an absolute square - though, I'll only know when I get to that point... if I'll have to continute on further with more squares.

I'm preparing myself for a Slow Month for the month of March. I will be giving you more details as I figure them out myself. The only purchases allowed are bills that are already in contract (phone bill, heating, etc....), anything essential that Sean needs (diapers/food) (he does NOT need any clothes or toys!) food, and anything I need to do business related (I'm not closing down shop for my "slow month" next month! I've been inspired by other people's slow month, and want to try one out myself. I did it last June when I did a month of "Not Buying It"... I definitely think that I'm going to try it again, as a slow month. Anyone with me for a slow month?? Want to challenge yourself in March? For one whole month?

Just a reminder that ALL Cascade yarn is on sale until the end of February 2008. 20% off!!
Finally tomorrow I get to sleep in! See you later! I'm off to hit the pillow!

Unfortunately, with Japan in March, I can't join in your Slow Month efforts. But I'll challenge myself for April! :)

If Knitty doesn't accept my sock pattern I could submit it to you for the club. Or if you need more designs let me know and I could try to whip something up!

I'm in for slow month - with a couple of exceptions: bills already due (final payment on the cruise) and for just 2 days while my mom is here, my birthday.
J isn't usually game for this stuff, so I think not even buying groceries would be pushing it...but, hey, if all we do is buy groceries and pay required bills, that's a pretty big step!
Cool idea!

I am actually sort of doing a slow month for February. My FH and I were spending to much so I said lets not buy anything that isn't essential for the month of February. Its a little harder than you think if you have become accustomed to buying things when you want. But the way i got him to do it was I said if you want it in February you will have until march to see if you really need it. So far so good....

How do you do a slow month with kids that beg for collecting cards etc? Or say something comes up out of the blue and you need a new outfit, or shoes, or a birthday present for a party your kid got invited to...?
When we had trouble making ends meet with baby number two on the way and only one income, I had a spending book for every little expenditure to identify where the money was wasted. Saved every receipt too.
I just can't seem to get back into that so that NOW when we are so much more comfortable than those poor days. Isn't thats awful?

Love the meathead hat ~ he looks very cute in it. Congrats on the sock yarn score ~ thats awesome! I'll be looking for the details for the group.

Happy Valentine to you too, though belated. ;D I hope you had a great day.

Speaking of "slow month" I've decided to do it for 6 months starting in March. I have been spending way too much to include all the swaps and I'd like to relax and enjoy the fruit of my labor for a change (oops, no pun intended. LOL) Off to write some and knit some. Have a great day!

That's one of my favorite meat head hats I've seen! How precious.

Jealous. The post-it notebook is SO cool, and excuse me while I drool on your yarn...

By the way, I'm SO DOWN for making March a "slow month".

Miser March!!!

miser: a person who lives in wretched circumstances in order to save and hoard money - a stingy, wealth hoarder.

wow, you've got leftover sock yarn coming out of your ears! ;) you'll be receiving a bit more (from me!) as I just put your magazine and some of my own sock yarn leftovers (that would fit okay in the envelope) in the mail today. :)
