january two

I've been living in my Airwalk "Crocs" lately. My heel on my left foot has been killing. I think I have a heel spur (which my mother suffers from as well). One of the things I can do to relieve the pain in my foot is to walk in rubber soled shoes. I dug out the pair of Airwalks I got, and I've been feeling a LOT better. I'm going to have to get a heel insole for my winter boots, as they are the worst. The worst pain is in the morning getting out of bed.

This morning my dad delivered Sean's big boy bed. It's actually my sister's old bed from when she was living at my parents house. My old bed is in the "baby" room at my parents house, acting as a guest bed.

Nap time was a disaster. He got out of bed a few times after he was done his milk. He went to the door. (He cannot get out of his room yet, he isn't strong enough to turn the handle on the door).

At one point he was screaming so much, and I'd already put him back into the bed a few times, that I had no choice but to put him back into his crib.

This evening though, he fell asleep in his big boy bed and I just peeked in, he's still asleep. And yes, those are He-Man sheets from the 80's. And a Pink Panther stuffed animal that I had as a kid.

I did promise Sean that I'd get him a proper comforter set, which I saw at Walmart in the kids linens department that they had the "Original Six" hockey set. I have a return to do at Walmart anyhow (when do I not have a return to do at Walmart?) and so in the next couple of days I'll pick him up a set.

Wow. My baby is in a big boy bed. I'm not so sure I'm ready for this yet, but I suppose I don't have a choice, do I? I am though very excited to see how he does in his big boy bed.

This afternoon Jamie had to run out to get something, so I did some cleaning up while the boys napped. When Jamie got home, we tried an episode of Damages, and liked it. Then Mackie woke up, I got him, and while Mackie enjoyed his bottle, we watched episode number 2. I got some knitting done, on the sleeve, for the Moss Block Cardigan and tomorrow I should be able to cast on sleeve number 2 - and then there is an end in sight!

I haven't shown you progress in a while, but here's the front of the Cardigan. I'll show you the sleeves when done (or at least the first sleeve)! It's super exciting on how close I am to the finish line. I'm wondering if it will fit Mack, or if it'll be too big? I can't tell yet.

This evening we watched another episode of Damages, we're apparently hooked to find out what happens next. It's a show that is on the FX network.

It feels like Sunday today. Actually yesterday felt like Sunday too. It does certainly feel like the weekend. Especially since Jamie's had all these days off. I think I need to get out of the house tomorrow, even just to run a few errands, or I'll go stir crazy. That's for sure. I'm not even sure what's going on tomorrow. All I know is that Sean has a birthday party on Sunday afternoon for his partner in crime. And I have a lot of laundry to do. That I do. Since it never ends.

I was shocked that Canada Post (trucks) made deliveries today & I got mail from my regular mailman today (bills, but still). I totally wasn't expecting any mail until Monday. At least I have 2 kids that get me up early, or I'd have shot the postman for ringing the bell at 9:34 am on a holiday weekend. I'd love to have a morning where I can sleep in, no kids. (Maybe one day my parents will babysit both kids at their house overnight... I can dream, can't I?)

ps - Still looking out for that 6500th commenter....! Just letting you know!

Oh man, I know how you feel about the big boy bed...June has started climbing out of the playpen (and landed on her head!) so I'm afraid she's going to do the same with her crib some morning, so we're going to need to put her in a bed soon...but I don't want to!! I like her safely caged *ahem*, I mean, contained, for as long as possible! I know she's going to wake up in the mornings before we do and totally trash her room every day! Ha! She actually can open her door (our house is really old so the knobs are kind of old fashioned/loose), so we'll have put a gate up or something. Sigh. I don't want her growing up!

Oh, Robyn, I know how you feel. It's like we're on the never ending hamster wheel of children & life. Over and over and over again. I love my kids, but they're exhausting! :)

Yay! I'm glad Sean likes his new bed now!
And try ice on your heel- I have a bone spur on the bottom of my foot and ice totally helps. :))

Yeah!!!! Sean will love his new bed. I remember that DD would climb out of bed, open the door and walk downstairs, about 20 times per night when she first got hers. I then switched to a gate to deter her. HA!!!! She climbed over it. Eventually the thrill wore off and she went right to sleep every night. :-)

For the heel spur/planter fasciitis issue if you'll stretch your foot/ankle before you get out of bed it will feel better when you step on it. Normally it feels worst when you haven't been using it for a while, like if you've gone to bed or have been sitting for a long time. Well what feels worst is putting all that pressure from standing directly on scar tissue that can/does form during the resting times. So if you stretch first and break up the scar tissue first then it hurts a whole lot less when you actually stand up. Try flexing and extending your foot (as far each way as you can, or you can even flex it a bit more if you wrap a small towel around your foot and pull on that.) while lying down (i.e. before you get out of bed). Also rotate your foot from side to side while flexing/extending. If you feel something when you do that in the morning then its probably scar tissue hurting you. Do it for a minute or two before getting out of bed. It should hopefully help?

Sean is so cute in his bed! He's growing up so fast! OH my gosh.

The cardigan is going to be so cute. I'm loving it so far.

Yes the big bed and all it's issues! He'll be a pro in no time - congrats Sean!

Sorry to hear about the sore heel, sounds awful!

The cardigan is looking good and I can't wait to see it on that cutie pie!

Oh,that is so great that Sean is in a big bed! I have been thinking about when we should move Chloe over and I am waiting as long as I can for now. But I hope that she does well once we do and we will have to get her some fun sheets too!

A big boy bed. You guys are smart to have put the guard rail up, I didn't bother with Émilie, and for the first week you'd hear a large THUD coming from her room as she fell off! LOL!
