baby3

This morning I got to see my baby again!
(After a VERY long wait in a dark waiting room)

boypart2

However, it turns out, it’s actually not a girl. It’s a BOY!
(White arrow above is the hospital’s printout of dangly bits).
(View is from the bum of the baby)

I couldn’t believe it. I also told her that I’d like proof, because I told her that I didn’t think my husband would believe it. She couldn’t get all the measurements she needed, and was given an appointment in 3 weeks. At this point, I hadn’t met my new doctor, so just in case, I took the appointment.

Running late, I ran to my doctor’s appointment with my new doctor. They actually have a ultrasound machine on the facility. (Pretty cool). My new doctor wanted her tech to do a quick Ultrasound to confirm due date, and while there, (not telling her that the U/S this morning told me it was another boy), I asked her if she had a minute and if she could take a look between the legs. I wanted a 2nd opinion, since I was lucky enough to get the chance. She asked me if this was my first, and i told her, that I had 2 boys at home. She also told me that it was another boy, and I told her that my husband wasn’t going to believe it. She also printed me out proof (below).

Definitely dangly bits (I added in the red arrow for you to see).
(Also another bum shot).

I am still in shock that it’s actually a boy.
At least I have everything!
And he’s healthy.

However, I was diagnosed this morning with full Placenta Previa.

previa

I'm more concerned about my placenta previa, than the fact that its a boy.

I will be re-assessed on the 18th of august. If it hasn't moved (not sure what the chances are for FULL previa) then I'll be high risk, maybe bed rest as most likely after 20-24 weeks, it could cause bleeding. I'm almost 19 weeks now.

Placenta Previa means that my placenta is covering my cervix. So basically 'blocking' the birth canal. That part is fine, because I was having a scheduled Csection anyhow as I have no interest in Vbac (vaginal birth after Csection) since Mack was an (emergency) Csection. I’m getting another ultrasound done on the 18th of August, and I’ll know more then.

So now, that it’s a boy, we don’t have a name. Nor can we come up with anything we like. What are your fave boys names? I like unique, but not odd. I don’t want anything ‘top 10’. Has to be an English sounding name. I also don’t like anything too biblical. Hit me with ideas! I’d love to hear. There is a good chance this baby won’t be named until after he’s born.

The rest of my day was a blur. My in-laws came for dinner, after my mom helped me pick up Mackenzie from daycare (since we were in her car) and dropped us all off at home. I brought Sean along with me today, as I thought he’d get a kick out of the Ultrasound. I’m not sure how he enjoyed it – as I was instantly distracted with all this information they were giving me about the previa.

I leave you today with this video. It’s too funny. I needed this little chuckle.

Oh my gosh, Robyn, what a lot to have to take in all at once!! But as you said, if the baby's healthy and you're healthy, then it's all good; just part of the 'fun' of not really knowing...

so can anything be done apart from bed-rest to reduce the risks from placenta praevia? I'll be thinking of you...

WOW! What news, the healthy boy part is great to hear though.

May I suggest the name Lucas (since you already liked my daughter's name!) LOL! I believe Lucas is becoming a popular name but 9 years ago it wasn't. I guess I started trends 'cause now Zoe is popular also. ;)

Sending you plenty of healthy pregnancy vibes, I think it's time for you to start slowing down a bit.

Oh wow what a surprise!
What about another "Z" name? I thought Zack but- too close to Mack!
& Lucas is our nephew's name!

OMG I can't believe it! But you make such cute boys, there can never be too many of them in this world :)

I can't help much with names. I like names like Thomas and Charles but they seem to be quite popular nowadays. I like the idea of a Z-name. Maybe Zane?

Wow! The ultrasound tech's here won't tell you the sex until after 20 weeks because the chances of being wrong before that are too high. It really bugged me when I was pregnant with my kids, but now I understand why they do that! What a surprise for you! I'm sure your boys will be happy to hear they are getting a brother! ;)

I also like the idea of another "Z" name... can't think of any right now though. hmmm.
When we thought our Kenzie was going to be a boy, we had chosen the name Bennett.
Good luck with the naming!

Okay, had to come back and leave another comment.... about the Craft Talk video! That was awesome! I laughed so hard.... and now I have that song stuck in my head. Too funny. Thanks for posting this.

Oh my! I know someone who thought it was a girl until about 2 weeks before she delivered and then found out it was a boy! Such a shocker. I'm sorry because I know a girl would have been just the icing on the cake but all in all, it's healthy and that's the most important thing. And you have lots of boy clothes! Hang in there with the pp and start taking it easy. If you need to go on complete bed rest, I know your family will be there to take care of the kids. Hugs to you!

OMG what a shock!! hope your doing ok :)

wow! crazy news, momma! is it sinking in yet? you DO make the cutest boys, so i'm super-excited to 'meet' another! big hugs on the change of news, though.. i'm sure it'll take a hot minute to register.

since we keep our name a secret, and we're having a boy, i'll have to email you our list separately :)

ps.. that video is all kinds of creepy haha that lady is on an episode of yo gabba gabba doing a dancey dance.. also all kinds of creepy :)

I love that craft talk video! Too funny. What a day, eh? At least, for the placenta previa, they will monitor you. Can you imagine 20 weeks of bedrest? Think of all the knitting you can get done! (I'm kinda jealous LOL) j/k

There are a lot of awesome baby names out there. Is there a letter you're drawn to?

Congrats and prayers are going your way. I hope your son will grow well, and that the placenta previa will not endanger him.

LOL! My 3 sons are named Steven, Jouke and Wietse. :-)

WOW - I bet you're so glad you didn't already paint the room pink! Whatever, as long as the baby is healthy who cares what it is.

Sorry to hear about the previa ... but now at least you have prenatal care so I'm sure they'll take good care of you.

No help from me for the names just now ... I like Jewishy sounding names anyway so probably not what you're after.

Lots of hugs for you xoxo

Oh dear!! You were right! That WAS a shocker! You're being taken over by boys!! It's a conspiracy. :) As for boys names, I've always loved George, so my family was very thrilled when I had girls. What about Harper, Elliot, Jude, Ezra, Jared, or Van? I'd say I'll be thinking about you and your placenta, but that would be creepy. :) Hugs!

A boy! Wow that is surprising (but a good surprise). I hope you don't have to go on bedrest and make sure you rest and let people do lots of things for you (I know it's hard with little ones). Thinking of you.

As for boys names:
Callum
Hunter
Oliver
Beckett
Landon
Mason
Milo
Owen
Walker
Maxwell
Zane
Damon
Emmett

Oh Robyn, I can only imagine how shocked you were! Your troop of boys is going to be awesome, though, and you're going to have the BEST time with all your cuties. These boys are going to spoil you rotten.

I had full placenta previa too, until 28 weeks and then it resolved, thank goodness. If you are already scheduling a c-section, then I wouldn't worry because my OB told me that was pretty much the worst case scenario as long as everything else looks good. I never had bleeding and had partial rest (i.e. no sex- which was annoying) but everything else was good.

Congratulations on a healthy baby! I'm super excited for all of you!

Robyn, I love the button nose in the ultrasound! Kind regards, Anita.

OMG!! I can't friggin believe it!!! I'm just speechless...

Anyway, I've known a few people who have had previa and in the end everything moved to where it should be and bedrest was not needed, hoping that's what happens for you.

Boy names..ugh I had such a hard time coming up with Cole's name. I was completely sold on it until he was born and time to fill out the papers. My fave was and is Owen (cole's middle name) I also liked Mason when I was pregnant w/Logan.

Hmmm...I think of somemore and get back to you...

Wow, that's a lot to digest in one go!
As for the name, I love Owen, Richard and Justin.
A friend of mine had partial previa for part of her pregnancy (she's still about 5 weeks away, i think) and she took it easy, no heavy lifting, no huge amounts of quick movements or anything, and it eventually fixed itself.
Sending good vibes your way!

Glad that you found out about the previa now, from what I know from friends that have had the issue, knowing before delivery is the most important thing!

As for the little boy...wow! So glad you found out now before you had knit even more little girl things!! Lots of possible boy names...but if you want to stick with a Z name, Zachary

Yarnhog said...

Yikes! I have three boys, too. Good luck. ;)

I'm glad you found out about the placenta previa; I had two high risk pregnancies, and the worst thing is not knowing in advance that there will be a problem. Take it as easy as possible. I hope you can avoid bed rest; it's not as restful as you would think.

g-girl said...

well, at least the baby is healthy. though we were all really hoping for a girl. that's the least of your worries though after finding out about the previa. i will be sending good thoughts your way though. :) the video was a crack up!!

OMG, I am not going to lie, my mouth dropped when you told me my niece has a penis!!!! Still can't believe the Chinese Calender was wrong!!!! Oh well, Auntie Amy does love her nephews :D Just one more to love! More hockey equipment for you to buy!!!

And depending what the Dr says, my offer still stands if you need any help with those adorable nephews of mine!

OOh and I like Emmett ;D

That's crazy!!!! Oh well boys are fun and now you will have 3...yay! I will be praying that all goes well with the rest of the pregnancy!

OK, I knew about Zoe now being a boy through Facebook, but I had no idea about the previa! Are you OK?
