09.30.10 :: 119 weeks old

119wksM
Mack is 119 weeks old today.

The weather has been really dreary around here lately. It's been raining pretty much all week. The mood has been the same lately too - I find the rain does that. It's nice that it's raining and all - since we barely had any rain all summer long (with restrictions on watering your lawn on top of it), hopefully the rain will end soon though.

I saw my OB today, and while I passed my glucose test on Monday with flying colors, and do not have gestational diabetes (I wasn't worried, I didn't have it with Sean or Mackenzie's pregnancies) but my tests came back with blood in my urine (yet, I still haven't actually bled because of the placenta praevia) and apparently I'm anemic. So now I have to take 2 pills twice a day until I deliver, and then they'll run blood work again and see if I'm still anemic. The anemia totally explains my extreme fatigue. I have to go now every 2 weeks to check in, and we'll shortly be scheduling my Csection. If my placenta doesn't move, (we're confirming that shortly as well) then I'll be having a Csection give or take 37 weeks, (unless I go into pre-term labor) and if it a miracle and moves, then we'll schedule it at 39 weeks, though, we joked that I've not made it past 38 & 37 weeks pregnant with Sean & Mack, so if my placenta does move, I'll probably still be having a baby earlier than 39 weeks, but that scheduling it at 39 weeks is protocol. I'll know more after my next ultrasound, which is coming up. However, from the position my placenta was sitting in last, we're not very optimistic that it will move, unfortunately. The other good but yet bad news is that I didn't gain a single pound since my last appointment a month ago. Good that I didn't gain weight, but does that mean the baby isn't growing? We'll know more at the next ultrasound about that too. If he's not growing, it's a result of my placenta sitting on the bottom, and not getting all the nutrients to help him grow.... I'll be nervously waiting to have my next ultrasound. Just knowing he's okay, will make me feel better, so I can stop worrying for a bit. Gosh, what else is the pregnancy gods going to throw at me? Bring it on. I'm ready. I can handle anything else you throw my way.

I hate my hair. HATE it. I can't do it like the way the girl who cut it styled it before I left the salon. My hair is not cooperating with me. I don't have time to style/manage it, which is why I cut it. But now it's not behaving. I've had short hair-do's before, but she didn't cut it the way I asked her to, she kinda improvised, and now I'm not 100% happy. Ugh. The battle of the hair... What to do?

I picked up a gorgeous bassinet from a friend today. I actually bought it off her. It's gorgeous. It's like a tiny little crib, that can rock, if I want it, or I can level it into place. It's solid dark brown wood, and just gorgeous. It came with a mattress, sheets, and bumper pads too as well as a comforter. I don't think I'll have a problem selling it after baby 3 outgrows it. (We're not planning to have any more kids, I cannot go through another high risk pregnancy. I'm not 25 years old anymore, like I was when pregnant with Sean and don't have the energy to go through this again, I see how this high rick pregnancy is taking it's toll on me).

After she got the bassinet in my van, I headed to the Family Corn Roast at the boys daycare. It was nice to see a few of Sean's friends parents, whom I am friends with. Things have been so busy lately, it was nice to catch up with them. We made some play dates, and Sean can't wait. I don't really know too many of the moms in Mack's class, yet, nor whom he's friends with. Mack is my quiet son. Totally different from Sean. Mack enjoys playing with Sean & his friends, so for now, we're golden. Plus some of Sean's friends have siblings Mack's age. Ran into another mom that I had no idea her daughter started Sept 1st at our daycare, and it was nice to see her too. I never run into her at drop off or pick-up. So odd. I guess we have totally different schedules.

sewingdate
Tonight Jamie had to take care of some work related stuff, so I continued working on those ideas I had for Christmas gifts. Slowly things are coming together. I realized tonight that I want to get a better iron, apparently I have a very basic model, and I want to be able to spray water and steam at the touch of a button. I also want to get my hands on a steamer, so I'm adding it to my Christmas wish list. Jamie's dad is good at finding sales and stuff, so I'll ask him to keep an eye out for me. If we find a really good deal, maybe I won't wait until Christmas.

I have another 10 point Pampers Gifts to Grow code to share with you: PUNTOSPARAMI123

09.29.10

atring
After receiving just bills and junk mail for what seems like ever recently, I finally got something fun in the mail today. I ordered this ring online a few weeks back, from a designer in Israel. What's really cool is that she hails from Haifa, where my father was born. Being the web geek that I am... I totally love my new ring.

MrMackphone

Mack's been into making phone calls lately. He tells me whom he wants to call and we call them. Luckily, it's me who has to dial the numbers, or he'd be calling the other side of the world for sure. Usually the person on the other end (mainly family) can barely hear him as he talks with such a sweet innocent little voice.

I started cutting a LOT of rectangles today for an upcoming sewing project. I wanted to cut & iron all my rectangles before diving into the sewing portion. It's mainly Christmas I am thinking about. It seems like the list of people to give gifts to gets longer & longer each year. I want to put together little gift bags with different things in it - including some handmade items (a touch of love!), hence where my sewing skills come in handy. I will post details once I get that all sorted out. I'm also doing a few swaps right now, and thought I'd make some extra items for the swaps as well. Can never go wrong with handmade items.

Besides actually getting the sewing stuff organized, I had a long list of things to do today. I didn't get most of it done, but that's okay, the only main important thing on that list was getting the laundry folded, and I did take care of that. I'm starting to find that my energy is not so much there anymore now that I'm in my 3rd trimester. Though, what I didn't do today, could always get done tomorrow or the day after. There wasn't anything too important on that list.

Today’s Link Love:
- I would LOVE a sewing nook like this. I would also like to know who on earth has extra closet space like this just to have a nook like this!? I wish!
- I have another 5 point Huggies Enjoy The Ride Rewards Code for you: BJQRFNCNMCNPPGB. I received in the mail today 2 rewards I redeemed from this program. I now have 2 coupons for free Jumbo Packs of Huggies Diapers. Can never say no to free diapers, especially now that I'll have a 3rd child going through diapers.
- I love that Bloglines will remain open for 1 more month. (I got notified via email a few days ago apparently in my old email account that my bloglines account was hooked up to) Now I don't have to stress about finding another feed reader before Friday. I'm not 100% sure about Google Reader. Does anyone use anything else?
- Love that the new Habs Captain has been named the one & only Brian Gionta. Last year I was in mourning over the loss of Captain Saku Koivu, so I didn't replace him in my heart. I think it's finally time to move on!

09.28.10 :: 45 months old

45mosS
Sean is 45 months old today.
I can't believe his 4th birthday is in 3 months.

seansdude
I love Sean's recently acquired drawing skills.
Not sure when, but it went from lines all over the page to actual drawings.
I love it.
This one reminds me of Stewie.

forcatherine

I brought my sewing instructor this awesome pincushion tonight at my sewing lesson, as it was recently her birthday. One of my awesome friends makes them, and it made the perfect gift.

sewnbooties

Tonight we made baby booties in class. It took the full 2 hours to make them. I think they are so adorable. We used this online tutorial. While I think the shoes are the cutest things ever, I will have to wait until I have a baby to put them on to see how they "wear". They elastic part isn't exactly that "elastic-y", so we'll see how they are. Apparently these are meant to be 0-6 month size. I'll let you know when they fit baby boy 3's feet. They'll definitely make an appearance to this blog.

I finished listening to The Friday Night Knitting Club. All 741 minutes of it. While it wasn't my absolute fave book, it kept me entertained enough in the car whenever I wasn't with the kids (because when the kids are in the car, it's kid stuff we listen to, of course). I did end up getting Knit Two, and already have it loaded in the car to listen to next. It's a little shorter than the first book (It's only 646 minutes), but now I'm curious to see what happens to all the characters. Why not. It's something to keep my brain stimulated, as it takes real concentration to listen to an audio book. Can't let your mind wander off, or you'll have to re-start what you were listening to. I think it's very good for the brain to listen to audio books.

Today’s Link Love:
- This image and this one too.
- I won a contest today! A copy of the Holiday 2010 Knit Simple Mag (A magazine I actually get from time to time from the newstand!). From 1000+ entries she picked 10 winners! Wow!
- I love that so many new patterns are being listed on Ravelry daily. Now if only I could find more hours in the day to knit. Wouldn't that be nice.

09.27.10 :: 195 weeks old

195wksS

Sean is 195 weeks old today.

legosukkah

Right now it's the Jewish Holiday of Sukkot. The nearest synagogue to us, has a Mega Block Sukkot on their property. It's the coolest thing ever. Sean wants to bring it home & use it as a fort. I think it's the coolest thing ever. I'm wondering how they got this many mega blocks.

naomisband

I started a headband for a friend today.

naomiheadband

I also finished a headband for a friend today.

naomiband

SPECS:
Pattern: 86-10 Headband in Alaska by DROPS design (My Ravelry Project)
For: My friend Naomi
Yarn: 0.34 skein of Cascade Yarns 220 Superwash in 817
Needles: US 8 - 5.0 mm
Size: Followed instructions
Timeline: September 27, 2010
Modifications: None, knit pattern as written.
Opinion: I've made one of these for my cleaning lady last year. This year my friend Naomi requested one. I still want to make myself one, I just love this pattern. I hope Naomi likes hers when she receives it (hopefully sometime next week).

Had my glucose test today at the hospital. I don't remember getting nauseas after drinking that liquid after I did the same test with my pregnancies for Sean & Mackenzie. One of the boys I had to go back and do the 3 hour test. I can't remember which one at the moment. Luckily I didn't have gestational diabetes with either pregnancy, so I am hoping that I don't have it this time again. I drank the stuff, waited the hour (chatting up with a few people in the waiting room who were admiring what I was knitting (see above to what they were admiring) and then had to do a blood test after the hour was up. The nurse really wasn't that great today and jabbed my arm with the needle. She really wasn't gentle all, and I was already feeling quite faint. I really hope that I don't have to go back to do the 3 hour glucose test. I see my doctor this week, so we'll see what she has to say about my test results (which she should have received this afternoon). With less than 10 weeks to go til I hit 37 weeks, I really hope that I don't have to deal with gestational diabetes, on top of the placenta praevia. That.would.just.suck. Baby boy didn't like the liquid I had to drink today... he was moving around the entire hour after I drank it. Very active little guy.

owlshoes

Baby boy stuff rocks.
New shoes for the little man to be.
They are sooo tiny. Love it.

progalpacascarf
Progress had been made on the alpaca scarf.

habsgame1011
Tonight the hubby & I got a kid free night again. (No complaints!) We had our first habs game of the season. It wasn't bad at all sitting in our seats, though baby boy was very active the entire game. He wouldn't stop moving. I think (providing there are no complications (knock on wood)) I will attempt to go to a few more games before life with 3 children. It was a really good game to go to tonight (pre-season game), we won 4-3 against Minnesota Wild. Got to see our new back-up goalie Alex Auld in action. He's pretty good.

Speaking of life with 3 children, I'm so read. Bring it on! I've never felt so prepared in my life to be a mom of three children. Especially 3 children 4 years old and younger. I'm sure life will be challenging for a while afterwards, but I'm ready to see what life throws at me. Bring.it.on!

Today's Link Love:
- Love this Candy Cane Ornament Tutorial.
- Love this pumpkin sweater tutorial.
- Love this modge podged pumpkin.
- Love this printable recipe card.
- Love this fabric wreath.
- Google reader. I've been slowly moving all the blogs I read in there. (I'm not doing it in bulk because I'm going through everything and weeding out what I don't need anymore or blogs that haven't updated in a while).

09.25.10 :: 27 weeks pregnant / 3rd Trimester

27weekspg

I'm 27 weeks pregnant today.
Officially in my 3rd trimester.
10 weeks to go to make my goal date.
I started to feel this week like my belly exploded in size.

innocentmack

Mr. Mack has been sporting a hat all week. He's just too cute in it.

airhockeytable

Jamie decided a few days ago that he was buying a 2nd hand (in mint condition) air hockey table. The boys love playing on the one at my parents house. The look on Sean's face when we loaded it up into the car today was priceless. He turned to us and said "I guess I can take that off my birthday wish list now"... I almost died it was too cute. The boys played on it for a good solid 2 and a half hours this afternoon. They love it. As long as we don't start getting pool tables & pink pong tables as well, I'll be okay. These tables are huge. We did some re-arranging in the playroom, but it actually works out well how we placed it. Mack can stand on the couch to play and Sean has a stool. (They're still way too short). Hey, whatever works.

This evening we shipped the kids off to my parents house. They were supposed to sleep over there last weekend, but my mom had come down with tonsillitis. We finally got to go out for our anniversary dinner (our 5th wedding anniversary was last Saturday) and have a kid free night. We went into the city to our fave Italian restaurant. It was delicious as always.

I've been working more on the sample knit, however I'm finding it hard as I keep getting alapaca hairs up my nose. Not fun. Not really enjoying this project. But it's not for me, so I'm trekking along (and working on other stuff at the same time). I don't mind when a yarn has a bit of alpaca in it. But this yarn is 100% Alpaca.

So much to knit. So little time.

... this week I hope to tackle the nursery. It seems like this week is a bit more of a relaxed week, compared to all the stuff we had going on last week. I do have an OB apointment this week, must get my glucose (ick!) test done, and there's a family corn roast at the boys' daycare. Other than that, and some time put in at the office, I plan to get the nursery taken care of. Time's ticking.

09.24.10

firstbusride

Sean got to go on his very first school bus ride this morning. He loved it.

whenwegotthere

We went apple picking with his daycare.

yey4applepick

We even got to eat apples off the tree.
Today's apples were McIntosh.
Good for me, because my apple cake recipe only takes McIntosh.
(They're one of my top fave apples anyhow)...

berriespicking

It was so nice there, even though it had just rained.
We were lucky and it didn't actually rain while we were there.

quinnfarm

Sean had a great time.
I don't think he wanted to leave.
He was a little disappointed though, as we were supposed to pick pumpkins too.

seanpickingapple

Luckily I didn't have to do any bending or lifting.
All the apples were within arm's reach for Sean (and I as well).

seanmeappleorchard

We each picked a full bag of apples.

seanandfriends

Sean & his friends in his class.

tractorride

We got to go on a tractor ride too.
Sean loved that.

Sbake2day

When we got in (none of his friends were staying the afternoon at daycare),
Sean & I baked some apple cakes.

Knit & Purl Mama's Mother-in-Law's Apple Cake Recipe

4 or 5 apples pealed & sliced (Very Important that it's McIntosh Apples ONLY)
2 Eggs
1/2 Cup Oil
3/4 Cup Sugar
3/4 Cup Flour
1 tsp Baking Powder
Pinch of Salt
Sugar and cinnamon to sprinkle over apples

Peel & Core apples, slice into an 8 or 9 inch pan. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Beat eggs, oil and sugar together. Add in flour baking powder & salt. Mix well. Pour batter over apples (optional sprinkle more cinnamon on top and/or nuts of your liking). Bake at 350°F (176-177°C) for 40 to 45 minutes, or until toothpick test is clean.

Knit & Purl Mama notes: I am HEAVY on the cinnamon both on top of the apples & on top of the cake once the batter is over the apples. I've sometimes used baking Walnuts or baking almonds to sprinkle on top, which are really good on the cake!

lemon

Tonight we went out for dinner with my in-laws. Mack has this obsession with lemons right now, even though he doesn't like the taste... (Can you tell!?). He's too funny. We all came back after dinner for some delicious apple cake. Yum!

I saw this today: "As you may have heard, we are sorry to share that Bloglines will officially shut down on October 1, 2010." What!?? That's how I read my blogs. What am I going to do?? Does anyone have experience with Google Reader? I don't want to rely on blogger to read my blog as not all the blogs I read are blogger blogs. Trying to figure out how to go about reading my blogs. What other service do you guys use? I am going to have to start saving all my tutorials and stuff elsewhere... grr... Not too happy about this - and not sure why I only found out about this now, instead of earlier this month when it was announced. I wish I had more than a week to sort this out.

Today's Link Love:
- This photo. TOO darn cute.
- I wanted one of these when they came out for the boys. I found it pricey to buy. I finally had enough pampers points to order one for baby 3.

09.23.10 :: 118 weeks old

118weeksoldM
Mack is 118 weeks old today.

macksweatermodel
I managed to convince Mack to model his new sweater today.
The pattern was for 2T, but Mack's pretty much in a 3T now.
The sweater was long on the sleeves (I rolled them up), but perfect length.
He'll be able to wear it for a while.
I bet Sean would fit into it as well.

Macksweaternohood
It's just stunning.
Thank you again Kerry.

I do have a finished object of my own to share with you:

frontshelldone
SPECS
:
Pattern:Baby Shell by Carey Huffman (My Ravelry Project)
For: Baby Boy #3
Yarn: 0.75 skein of Kraemer Yarns Summit Hill in Jade
Needles: US 7 - 4.5 mm (though I used US 8 - 5.0 mm to bind off)
Size: Followed instructions for 0-3 months, but it's 3-6 month size for sure
Timeline: September 18 - 23, 2010
Modifications: Used a tad thicker yarn than the pattern called for, with the needle size pattern recommended as I knit tight. However, the shirt still knit up a size larger than stated. That's okay though, size 3-6 months will fit baby 3 in the spring or so, providing he's an average size baby. I guess I'll have to see how large he is at birth.
Opinion: Great pattern! After ripping back once and getting back on track, I definitely want to knit more of these. What a great stash busting pattern. Totally want to knit these in other sizes. Very quick knit. I totally recommend this pattern. I can't wait to have a baby to put in it.

backsweatershell

Back of shirt.

I have another freebie Pampers Gifts to Grow Point for you to add to your .ca or .com account: 1FORMEGTGSEPT23 - ENJOY!

I finally have recently caught up on both Cake Boss, and the final season of Jon & Kate Plus 8 that I had on my PVR. Ahhh, feels good to be up-to-date. I just need to catch up on Oprah and I'm all set. I haven't yet watched the season premieres tonight of Bones, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, CSI, or Big Bang Theory, it's all waiting for me on my PVR - though Jamie and I did catch up on last night's Survivor. I actually didn't knit tonight while watching TV, I wanted to give my hands a break. I will pick back up the sample knit tomorrow, as I think I had a good enough break from getting alpaca stuck up my nose. I do have one more sample knit to do after the one I'm currnetly in the middle of, but I also want to see if I can get Vestee done. I have to rip back a few rows, but nothing too serious. I realized I made a mistake. I'd also like to finish this knit, even though I'm not having a girl. It'll go into the gift pile once I'm done with it. Really too bad I'm not having a girl, it's such a great pattern. I also want to finish Jamie's man socks... they are uhm... long overdue to be finished. Will get on that. Yes.

Off to go get lost in my book again. I am really enjoying it. I love that I've made time every night before bed to read. And I've actually been going to bed very reasonably lately too. Trying to get as much sleep as possible now before baby 3 is born.

09.22.10

burgerkingface
I spent the day today with my mom & the boys.

seanskeeballgame
We did a little shopping in Plattsburgh, New York.

burgerkingmack
The boys were pretty good today. They had their moments though.knitincarwaitma
I got a bit of knitting done today on baby shell.
(My mom drove both ways, so I got to knit in the car)

mackcatnap
Mack got a 5 minute cat nap in the car until Sean unfortunately woke him.

robynkerry
We met up with awesome Kerry for dinner.
We've been trying to get together for almost 4 years now.
FINALLY made it happen!
Kerry rocks.
Sean had a good time with her daughters at dinner.
He definitely kept them entertained.
Kerry's wearing the "K" scrabble earrings I made her.

birthdayloot
Kerry brought along with her my belated birthday gifts.
Aren't I spoiled!?
A package of purple yarn!
I got some Noro Silk Garden Sock, some Catalina Chunky,
some Aslan Trends Invernal, and some Classic Elite Yarns Giselle.

MacksSweater
She also made Mack a sweater, she was test knitting the pattern.
I'll see if I can snag some photos of him wearing it tomorrow.
I love it. I love the cables. I love the zipper in the back.

Thank you sooooooooo much for everything Kerry! So glad we finally got to meet!
Let's do it again soon!

We had an easy drive to & from Plattsburgh. It's only about 1 hour and 15 minutes. We would have been home so much sooner, but the border customs dude made us pay duty on all the stuff we bought, since technically even though we declared approximately 50$ a person (exactly what we spent), there is absolutely no exemptions for being out of the country for just the day. (50$ is for being gone for 24 hours from the country). Never have we had to pay duty before on 50$ each. Well, this dude was in a nasty mood or something. That's okay, I don't mind paying the duty, though, with 2 cranky kids, I just wanted to get home. Most of the stuff was for Sean anyhow, we specifically were looking today for size 4 pants, long sleeve shirts and sweaters (mainly zip down) for him. Thankfully, I found him everything I was looking for. I *think* his size 4 wardrobe is now finally complete.

Before I leave you for my bed, as I'm completely zonked, I have some more free points available today for Pampers Gifts to Grow or .com too:

PAMPERSTWITTER5

And you can also get 5 more Huggies points:

09.21.10

Random Tuesday:
- I have a new Huggies Enjoy the Ride Reward free code, worth 1 pt: BGQGL–PKMCP–XPPGB
- People have been asking me to make an online wishlist, so I have! Here it is. There are baby items & stuff I wish for too. The easiest way for me to do it was on google (Froogle actually) and make it like a shopping list. Items I want for the baby, as well as items for me. I was asked to add both, so here you go. Hope it helps, for those asking!?
- Very excited to have dinner tomorrow night with a knit friend. Details about that tomorrow. We've been friends for probably 4 years now, but haven't met yet. I.can't.wait.
- I'm almost done The Friday Night Knitting Club on audio book. Can't wait to start Knit Two.
- I'm getting into Jessica Z. I'm about a third in. So far, so good. Definitely different from what I'm used to reading. I owe a review for Two Years, No Rain, and I have a date with my computer to do that on Thursday. Stay Tuned. I haven't forgotten, just haven't had time to compose my thoughts online yet. On Thursday I will also announce the contest details for you to win a copy of Jessica Z.
- Loved the season premiere of House. Watched the Series premiere of The Event and now I want to see what happens next...
- I'm back on track with Baby 3's Baby shell. I foresee it being done VERY shortly. I also foresee it being my go-to pattern for a quick last minute knit. Very quick knit... and now that I realized what I did wrong... (never print a pattern in black & white when there are color diagrams on purpose...!)
- Excited for it to be October already, for all the fun stuff going on in October. There is still a few last fun things going on in September, but October seems exciting already! Thankfully October is not that jam packed with stuff... as I'm still on modified rest.
- Sean's birthday party is 100% booked. So glad that's taken care of. I'm doing it outside of the house this time because with a newborn, I don't want to have to set up and clean up. They're taking care of everything. I like this. It's the only logical way to do it after having a Csection and with a newborn. Plus, I think the kids will have a fantastic time. I've even almost 100% figured out the lootbags. Am I on top of things, or what!? Thankfully Mack's 3rd birthday isn't until next June, so all that's left to worry about is hubby's 35th (though I might still be in the hospital then with a newborn), and Christmas/holiday related things. Slowly getting through my to-do list.
- Which reminds me... I better get moving on the nursery. I've got to finish sorting clothing, washing all baby items, and getting baby 3's room ready. The next 10 and a half weeks are going to fly by. I heart itty bitty baby items. I can't wait. I miss newborn smell. I miss newborn size. Even the every 2-3 hour wake-ups are soooo worth it. I feel like I'm in love all over again.

09.20.10 :: 194 weeks old

194wksoldS

Sean is 194 weeks old today.

blockcastle

We've been having fun building castles.

halfdown

And knocking them down.

blocksdown

And rolling around in the blocks too.

septlootgarden
I finally made it outside into the garden to see what was doing.
There was actually stuff to pick:
4 cucumbers, 3 zucchinis (2 of which were HUGE!)
Some green & orange peppers.
A spaghetti squash, and a huge bowl of cherry tomatoes.
I see more baking in my future.

There is a bit left in the garden that still needs to ripen, but it's starting to dwindle as the season is coming to an end... but that's expected for late September.

babyshellb4fro
I had made amazing progress on baby 3's baby shell.
I had about 7 of the 10 inches knit for the shirt.

oopsshell
And then I realized I'd made a mistake.
One of the flaps was in the front and the other... in the back.
Not sure how on earth I didn't notice it before.

ripbackshell

So I ripped back.
Practically to the beginning.
A lot of knitting time gone out the window.
It was very upsetting.

Today's Random Thoughts:
- I ordered the Knit Two Audio book. I'm going to give it a try.
- Very excited to meet up with a friend this week for dinner in another city. Finally.
- Hope it doesn't rain on the day I'm going with Sean's class apple picking. That.would.just.suck. I'll be doing the sun dance all week. I don't even mind if it's cloudy. Just no rain please.
