april one

Raverly decided that it would be a funny April Fool's joke to give everyone a hat. Mine is a chef's hat today. Apparently there were a few other jokes on ravelry, but I didn't see any others. (Some people had a little bug walking over a post, that sort of thing.

Old jeans good-bye! These are those first pair of non-maternity pants after having Mack. They are 2 sizes too big, and very big on me. Feels great!

Mack got a new toy (mouse) from my grandmother as a gift from Florida (so unnecessary). It came with a book that was super cute. Mack loves the new mouse. I think it's pretty cute as well.

Oy, I love this face.

And this smile.

And what do we have here? Do you see it? Come on now!

Yep, that's right.... a hole in his gums... that was this morning. By the evening, I could feel the sharp tooth under his gums about to break through... maybe by tomorrow we'll see a tooth? I can't remember how long it took for Sean's first tooth to be seen? In anycase, Mack's first tooth is on it's way! Finally!

Finally - the Vogue Knitting Spring/Summer 2009 issue is appearing in people's hands (though it has yet to hit newstands here in Montreal - not that I can find anyhow (after several stops over the last week at different places that carry knitting magazines), but my shop, Robyn's Nest is featured in the Made in Canada column in the newest issue! Do you have your copy yet??! How cool is this???!

This morning I popped by the nutritionists office, and did my routine check in. No weight change since Monday, but maybe it's because a little friend named Aunt Flo is visiting. It's the only reason I can think of. I'm not feeling so hot today anyhow, really bad cramps. Before Sean I never used to get cramps during that time of the month. Then between Sean & Mack, I started to get a bit more cramping than the never-having-cramps-before. Then after Mack, it's just gotten worse.

Late morning I visited Kadi to bring her some yarn, and we chatted for a bit - it was nice to catch up. On my way home I stopped by Chapters to look for a book, and ended up walking out of there with more than just one book (at least from the bargain section!) Oh, Chapters is evil. And I love books. They had some really cute journals and I was so tempted to buy one, but I stopped myself and reminded myself that I still had a full box of unused journals just waiting to be written in (I'm a huge list maker, always writing lists, and love writing them in journals). I am currently in the middle of a journal, but as soon as it's done, I will go through my box and see which one to use next, instead of buying a new one. If those journals are still for sale when I run out from my "stash" then I'll go pick it up, but for now, it was just a want, and not a need.

Tonight I went out with the West Island Knits/Crochet girls and we checked out Dunn's which just opened up 5 weeks ago near us. I ordered a salad and it was actually quite good. And free refills on Diet Pepsi never hurts either. (Though, I prefer Diet Coke over Diet Pepsi). Tonight we were a nice small group of 6. Good food, good knitting, good chatting, good times.

Tonight I worked on my step-mother-in-law's Vest. I finally photographed the buttons for you to see. What do you think of them? I only need one though. They're ceramic, and I think they work. I need to email my step-mother-in-law to see what she thinks of them.

Tonight I also swatched some Mirasol Hacho (which I used to carry in the shop). I was planning to use it for the Jane Crossover Sweater, which I just recently bought from Perl Grey. The sweater calls for a DK weight, which I thought would work great. I cannot get gauge with the Mirasol Hacho at all, I tried 2 different needle sizes. Smaller is even worse of gauge and larger just makes it too loose and still too many stitches per inch. Not happening. Not for the needle size and if I go any larger, the stitches will be way too lose. I honestly think that Mirasol Hacho is more of a sport weight than a DK weight. It's like a thick sock yarn. DK is thicker usually than what this is. I am just going to have to come up with another solution for the sweater.

Did you fool anyone today? If so, what did you do? Happy April Fool's!

You are looking fabulous!!

On the Ravelry Scarf Exchange group posts there were little hats on everyone. I wondered why - never thought of April Fool's Day. I had a cat in the hat hat on my pics.

Congrats on having your shop listed in Vogue Knitting!

Maybe by now that tooth has made an appearance? I love his new mouse and that picture of him with his two toys is priceless.

Congrats on the jeans being way to big. Do I vaguely remember somewhere a picture of you being happy about having non maternity jeans? Maybe that was someone else.
