january sixteen

I started packing today. I realized, holy moly, I'm leaving on Tuesday. And not only do I have to pack my stuff, I have to pack my kids stuff too. It was actually my mother calling me up today and asking how my packing was going for our trip that got me to say "Whoa... we're Saturday already"!

This afternoon we had my cousin Jenn's son's 1st birthday party. Mack spent almost the entire party trying to climb up the slide.

Though, he did go down the slide as well.

He talked on the telephone.

Played at the tool bench.

Showed Ashley how the tools worked.

I caught Sean here and there - but he was all over the gym having fun.

And I gave Lisa her neckwarmer.

Specs:
Pattern: A Neck Warmer for Coreen by Me!
For: My cousin Lisa
Yarn: Adrienne Vittadini Mia in Natural
Needles: 8.0mm/US 11
Size: Measures 27” long by 5” wide.
Timeline: January 14-15, 2010
Modifications: None, it's my own design!
Opinion: Love it! And I'm glad Lisa loves it!

Modeling the neck warmer before having to give it up. I love the stitch definition on bulky yarns.

After Henri's 1st birthday party, we dropped the kids off at my parents house and headed into this city for Jamie's good friend's wife's 40th birthday. We ate at a Thai restaurant and the food was really good. I tried a few items I'd never eaten before, so that was nice. I also wore my contact lenses for the first time since my kids were born. Wow, that was weird. It took me a couple of hours for my eyes to adjust before I wasn't seeing blurry. My eyes have been used to seeing out of my lenses of my glasses which sit on my nose, so having the lenses right on my eye balls, was a little odd at first. But I wanted to wear some make-up and I thought it would get hidden behind my glasses if I wore them, so I decided to try out my contacts tonight. I may start wearing them again on a more regular basis, we'll see. I stopped wearing them because they started to bother my eyes. I wore them way too much during long days in both photography school and graphic design school. I think I say in front of Photoshop for too many hours wearing them and my eyes didn't like me anymore after that. So I gave my eyes a very long rest (I graduated from my last degree in August of 2006), and I think now I'm ready to start wearing them again.

It's been a while since Jamie's been together with his 2 good friends. It's so nice to see everyone. I wasn't sure what to expect this evening, neither did Jamie, but we had a good time. We sat across the table from the birthday girl's mom & step-father and they were really nice. I talked with one of Jamie's good friend's fiancé (they are to be married in May) and it was really nice to finally meet her after hearing so much about her. I'm hoping to find a Saturday night to go out just the 4 of us to dinner, since we don't go out too much, that would be really nice.

I cannot even tell you the last time we went out on a Saturday night (or any night for that matter) and came home close to midnight! And some of them were even going out afterwards to a club or a bar or something. They tried to convince us to come, but we just wanted to get home as I have to go early in the morning to my parents house to pick up the kids. I found it amusing that the youngest couple there (which was us) were going home, while others were going out. I guess that's what happens when you have 2 young children. I'm just happy that my parents had the kids at their house as we got in late, and I'd hate for my parents to have stayed at my house that late. We literally just walked in a few minutes ago.

I didn't recognize you without your glasses. I was waiting for you to explain who the lady with Jamie was!

Both birthdays sound fun. Hope the contacts work out. You can always just wear your glasses when you hang out in front of a computer.
