I am going to be okay. Baby boy is okay. I'm home now and just heard back from the hospital with my test results. I woke up not feeling well at all today. I still have my headache that started on Sunday. This morning the pressures "down there" were so bad, and I had back pain as well. I wondered if maybe it was pre-eclampsia as I was showing some symptoms that are associated with that, so better to be safe than sorry, I had my mother help me take the boys to daycare and we headed to the hospital to the case room in the labor ward. I spent 5 hours flat on my back being monitored. They took urine samples. They found blood in my urine and protein as well. They watched baby boy for 5 hours and every time I felt him move I had to push a button. (So I couldn't knit). Baby boy was very active. Before I left they took more urine samples and drew bloods. They figured that I'd be more comfortable at home to wait for the results. They said it could be 1 hour or it could be 4 hours (or in between) depending on how backed up the lab is. I finally heard back from the hospital about 3-4 hours later. Turns out I have a urinary tract infection and it's causing my kidneys to put severe pain in my back. (All connected). They called in antibiotics to my pharmacy and I started my meds tonight. Hopefully I'll start to feel better soon.
Kids are funny, let me tell you. I started a conversation with Jamie after I got the call from the hospital with my test results and I said: "Well I guess that explains my back killing me, my kidneys from the infection are causing the back pain." Sean interrupts as he's coming back from the bathroom and says: "Mommy, the kid in your tummy is in your knees now?" (KID-NEYS - ha ha!) This kid kills me.
I'm off to rest. Just wanted to keep you all posted.

I am so glad that you went and got things checked out. A UTI is not fun but fairly easily treated. Take it easy and drink plenty of water.
Loved Sean's comment. I hope you were able to clear up his confusion.

glad everything is okay - I had a scare with my son - but everything was fine. Take care of yourself.
Feel better soon!!
Super glad you went to get checked out and that all is well with baby. Hopefully the antibiotics kick in right away and you feel better. Take care.
UTIs suck, doubly so when pregnant, I imagine. But let's just be thankful it wasn't pre-eclampsia after all! Feel better soon, Robyn. xo
Wow! That is scary! But I'm relieved you followed your feelings and went to the hospital. A kidney infection can get bad fast, so thank goodness this is being taken care of quickly.
Hope you are feeling better soon. We can't wait to meet this cutie!
Ugh! Pregnant women are prone to UTI's. Not fun!
I'm still laughing about KID-Knees!
oh dear. glad to hear you're okay and that it was just a UTI. hilarious regarding what sean said!!
so glad you're ok!! hope the meds help fast.. uti's are NO FUN. big hugs for the scary ordeal! xo
i'm glad to here that it is "just" a UTI. it explains the pressure you are having as well! hang in there it will clear up quickly.
Ok now I'm laughing like a crazy woman with the kid-neys comment by Sean. Good to know that it's just a urinary tract infection although that's still no fun. Hope the antibiotics get working soon, and you start getting better.
Glad it was nothing serious and that you are going to be okay, better once the meds kick in - and my nephew is good too! Almost there - a few more weeks!!! xo
Ah, the non-stress test. Wait for movement/contraction, click a button. I had to do that weekly for the last several weeks of my pregnancy because of the pre-eclampsia I had. :(
Glad everything is okay. PLEASE keep taking it easy. I know it sucks and it's hard, but it's worth it.
I'm glad all is ok with your pregnancy. Sucks about the UTI.
