december ten

It's officially winter here now. There are icecicles and a lot of snow and even my neighbor is outside snow blowing his driveway. Like a good samaritan, he did his next door neighbors too. I couldn't believe how long he was outside snow blowing. At least he didn't have to shovel it all!

Late morning we had my Aqua Strollers class and it felt great to get into the water. It was a small class due to the weather, but that's okay. The smaller the better actually. I was going to go to the movies today with another mom in my aqua class, whos daughter turns 1 today actually, but we weren't impressed with the selection today (Bolt or James Bond) so we said we'll go next week. Upon getting home, I discovered that this week is the last week before the winter break, and it'll resume in January. Oh well, maybe we'll go in January. Turns out she's crafty like I am - and is into baking (part of the cake club), and scrapbooking. She wants to learn to knit! I'll have to have her over sometime to learn to knit. Though, I don't think of myself as a good teacher. I find that I don't explain myself very well when it comes to explaining crafts to other people.

So I came home and started doing four hundred loads of laundry. It really never ends.

And I did some organizing. I've been looking madly for the 6-12 month size Habs booties that I had with Sean when he was fitting into those sizes. Couldn't find them anywhere. I knew I had them in both red & blue. Still to this day, can't find them. I've been through every storage box that I had for those sizes. Even other sizes of clothing I checked to see if I could find them. No luck. So I went out and bought them again. Because I love them. (Not as if he really needed them). As you can see he also has his sheep booties, elmo booties (which I couldn't find in Sean's size, so I ordered him some fuzzy elmo slippers online for his birthday, I hope they get here soon) and some "M" booties that he got as a gift when he was born. They now fit him. Sean had "Sean" booties, so I may go to the lady who makes them in Montreal (I believe I still have her card somewhere) and get some "Mack" booties. You can pretty much fit 4 letters nicely on the booties. But I assume the person we got the gift from didn't realize that we'd call him Mack - and Mackenzie was too long to put on the booties. So I may get him Mack ones made for the next size after this size that he has the "M" ones in. Well, in any case, Mackie definitely has warm feet this winter! In style!

This afternoon I started putting together all the cubby things that I picked up over the weekend. I thought that they would be fantastic to organize some of my sock yarn stash.

And what do you know?? It's perfect. I have one in my closet in my bedroom. All the yarn in there is specifically placed by brand, etc. It's great how organized my closet is now. Before the yarn was in a huge ziploc bag meant for soccer balls. (XXXL size or something!) It's supposed to be a shoe organizer. I like it better for yarn, do you?

And then after organizing my bedroom closet with yarn, I tackled my office. I had yarn all over the place. Apparently I still do have yarn all over the place, but now it's at least a LOT better. I really like this new look. It's a great way to organize. It also makes a huge difference in my office for space. I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner. I've also catalogued everything in there, so I know what is in there when I need it.

Today is Jamie's 33rd birthday. I made him my homemade lasagna with my homemade meat sauce, we cracked open a bottle of wine and enjoyed the evening. We watched some TV, I knitted a few rows while we watched TV. I gave him his birthday present (all Habs stuff of course!). I got him a Habs coffee travel mug (he needed a new travel mug for taking with him to work) and I got him a stain glass Habs clock for his office in the basement, as well as a Saku Koivu figurine, he didn't have that one yet. The last thing I got him, which we opened on Tuesday night, was a box of hockey cards that he collects. We enjoy opening the boxes together, it's a lot of fun pulling cards!

Off to go spend the rest of the evening with Jamie.

holy bejesus! your stash is awe inspiring! I wish I had a stash like that... I only have like maybe 6 skeins that I was like "ooh that's pretty" from my LYS. I usually only buy as I have projects.

Ah, an organized stash is a thing of beauty. Where did you get those cubby things?

Also, where do you get all your Habs gear? I've got a fan in the family, I thought I'd get him some stuff for Christmas.

Wow, that's one snowy world around you! It's funny we think it's oversnowing here on the West coast when we have half a day of wet snow coming down (that melts away later in the day anyways) :)
Your yarn looks awesome all organized - wish I had some spac to have a nice collection like you do :)
Keep warm!
