November 4 of 30

Today I did a load to the new house, and while there I cleaned up some shelves in the kitchen so I could put away food into the cupboards. I really hope that things will start coming together soon, as I really want to be living there already. And it does look like it may be able to happen sooner than we expected. The move is going very well. We literally pack my mom's truck and Jamie's car full when we're going to the house, and unload. It's great. Especially since we have time, and the house is empty that we're moving into. I think that's 100% the best moving situation! My current house and my new house are only 20 minutes away. So the drive between isn't that bad at all.

My new office. The previous owners left a desk that was built to the wall. I was thinking about tearing it down, but now I'm thinking that I'm going to keep it. You see, it makes a perfect ball winder/swift table!

I just need to figure out how to cover up the ugliness of the table. It really is just plain!

Here is a picture of Sean JUST before I weaved in the ends on his Drive Thru sweater. He was having fun tangling them all up. Though, he didn't get very far.

And voila, a finished Drive Thru. I just LOVE it. And at 2 year size, it fits Sean now. Of course I must rolll up the sleeves, and it's a little big, but it does fit him, I think it will be perfect for this winter.

Specs:
Pattern: Drive-Thru by Knit & Tonic Wendy Bernard
Yarn: Lion Brand Cotton Ease in Colorways 122 (Main Color),
110 (Yoke), 149 (Yoke), 100 (Yoke)
Needles: US 7 (4.5mm) & US 8 (5.0mm)
Timeline: Technically 1 week. Cast on Sunday October 21st, 2007, and was done by Sunday, October 28th, 2007 (including frogging the neck)
but only got to weave in ends today, November 4th, 2007.
Modifications: I had to rip back from the neck because there was no way that it was going to fit over my 10 month old son's head and it was a 2 year size sweater. Though big on him (roll up sleeves, etc), it fits him now. So I did modifications on the neck.

I love this pattern so much I already want to cast on another one.

In other news/stuff, the Rabbi & his wife came by this morning with an contractor to talk about the renovations in the kitchen to knock down the wall from the kitchen to what is our den. Jamie politely spoke to their agent and told them that we were under the impression that they were coming back with another inspector because the first one freaked them out. He told the agent that renovations are not a topic of discussion on the home, so we kindly kicked them out. Now we just need to see if they are going to lift the condition on the house. Gosh, I really hate the waiting game, it really does suck. I did see a guy (a brick pointing guy - not sure what the heck that is, but anyhow), poke around the house. I am sure it was to get a 2nd opinion. Uch - I just want the house selling business to be done with already.

Going to go watch Desperate Housewives and then hit the sack. I'm beat!

The sweater came out *adorable!*

Re: pointing - those are the people that come fix your brickwork when it decays. There's supposed to be a specific amount of mortar between the bricks for it to be a sound structure, and if it needs to be re-mortared, these are the guys who do it. More commonly, I've seen these people work on chimneys - we had this issue with our house in Indiana when we sold it, and unfortunately, it's a structural issue so we had to pay for it. We knew it was coming. I don't know what kind of leeway they'll give you if it's just decorative brickwork and not integral to the structure.
Just FYI... ;)

Holy cow the sweater looks great on him! Those are totally his colors. Great job Robyn!

As for the table, you can quilt a cover for it or something, but here's what I would do...

First of all- leave it there! A desk like that to hold the swift/ball winder/foot counter is perfect, plus it has the shelves for stuff like measuring tapes, etc. To cover the table I would use the contact paper like for covering school books, they have one with a grid on it (I bought mine at Loblaws). You can put that on it so you have it as a reference and you can mark the length on it, plus you can tape a measuring tape down at one end like at the fabric store...perfect crafting table! You're so lucky...all my craft stuff is still in boxes 'cus we're not working on our basement until next year. :(

Wasn't Nathan Fillion just the hottest Frankenstein evar???

Don't worry - once that desk is covered with knitting projects, you won't notice that it's plain. If all else fails, you can always buy more yarn to disguise it.

the sweater looks wonderful! So much so that I've been itching to cast on for one myself! You'll have to fill me on on the neck mods you did! Glad Jamie is the one who dealt with the rabbi and his wife this time.
