january eighteen: 55 weeks

Today, Sean is 55 weeks old. It's getting harder and harder to get him to look into the mirror for the pictures - but I'm working on being creative in that department... so far, it's working! I will keep up the weekly shots until he doesn't allow it any further... or I tie him down until he doesn't let me tie him down to take the pictures anymore, LOL....

Last night again, Sean woke up at approximetely 3:30 in the morning. It's been consistent now since last Sunday night - every night - some time around that hour - he's been getting up. Does teething really last this long? Can it really be every night he's waking up because of teething? And now I'm wondering if I should take out his night light from his room? I'm wondering if maybe it's dark in there, when he wakes up he'll just roll over and fall back asleep - but maybe the light is allowing him to see that he's not in my bed. Tomorrow night he's sleeping at my parents house as Jamie & I have Habs tickets, and so maybe I'll try Sunday night with no night light in his room. Shut it off for one night. I am going to go nuts if this keeps up. My sleeping is all messed up - because while he cries in his room, I don't sleep, until he falls asleep. Last night I had to give in and bring him into our bed after about 20 minutes of crying as Jamie had to work today, and was like "Just get him already".... and that's when I'm torn with what to do.... Sean's screaming is loud even with his door and our door shut... you can still hear the little guy. It breaks my heart too - to let him cry... but I don't know what else to do. I cannot get him used to my bed, but it's the only thing that calms him down.

Today was a lazy day around the house. Sean and I didn't leave the house. We took a really nice nap in the afternoon on the couch. I really enjoyed that. It was well needed.

I finished one blankie square (the 35th) this afternoon, and cast on square number 36. Square 36 was also finished today - and square 37 was cast on - but not much was done on that square. (Tomorrow). I will take some pictures of those two squares tomorrow when there is daylight. It's too dark to take pictures now, and I'm all about natural light. (I use flash only when I 150% have to). I think the blankie is getting a little big to work on at the hockey game tomorrow night, I'm taking it with - but if it doesn't work out - I'll work on my nephew's Drive Thru Sweater instead. That's coming with in my purse as well. We are VERY excited about the game tonight, Habs are playing Pittsburgh tonight, CROSBY!!!

This evening we had my in-laws over for dinner and then some friends came over for a poker game. I didn't play - instead I fell asleep with Sean on the couch... ahh - rest. Well needed.
Nothing too else exciting going on today - but I promise progress pictures on the blankie tomorrow. I'm 21 chapters into the book I'm reading - and have less than half the book to go! I hope to finish it soon, I want to be able to review it already! Especially since the author herself wanted my opinion on the book!

I can't believe how fast the weeks go by. This Tuesday is finally our Ultra Sound for the baby. It flew by so quickly. Monday I'm 19 weeks pregnant (the U/S is done during our 19th week here in Quebec and they hopefully can determine the sex of the baby - providing the baby is cooperative!) The following Monday - I'm half baked... Can you believe how quickly it goes?

I am a bit behind on my emails. I haven't had the energy the last couple of days to sit down and email people back. However, I do plan on catching up shortly on the 100+ emails in my inbox. So if you are waiting for an email from me - I'm sorry - it's coming! Tonight I got my laptop back (that was quick!) and I won't feel lost without it anymore. This way, while Sean is playing in the den, I can respond to some emails, as he hates being in my office (not too much fun things for him in here while I work!)

Next weekend my friend Sherrie is coming in from Boston to visit - we're having a girls weekend (plus Sean!) - as Jamie is going out of town on business for the weekend. I'm very excited for her visit - it's been almost half a year or so since I've seen her last. (Sherrie, was May the last time we saw each other when I came down for Webs in Northampton, MA?) Or have you been to Montreal since then?

Crossing fingers Sean sleep through the night tonight... pray for me!

You might try getting some earplugs that way your husband could sleep and you could still hear Sean cry with it not being so ear piercing. I know how hard it is I had to resort to using some tricks I learned by watching the Super Nanny.

With my first dd, she started waking up in the middle of night every night at the same time. We thought it was teething or a growth spurt at first, but after a week or so, decided that wasn't the case. We instead would go in and pick her up, change her if needed, then lay her back down. She cried for a couple of days but then figured out we weren't going to stay up and play with her so she started putting herself back to sleep. Try it - it might help?!

Good luck with your ultrasound, fingers crossed that it's a little girl for you and that it's co-operative enough for them to tell. I wanted a little boy, but oh well girls are cute too. One of each just would have been nice.

What Rhonda said - I was going to tell you that we basically did that with Aidan for a while too, and it was pretty effective, except that we didn't lift him out of the crib. We'd go in when he cried, hug him standing in his crib until he was ready to lie back down. When he realised that we were not going to lift him up, he consented to lie back down, and then stopped the whole standing up and crying thing....

does he wake up like that when he stays at your parents' house too? jw. i haven't any advice for you--unfortunately..other than keeping him up as late as possible so he can't wake up in the middle of the night. :(
