january 9: sick

I got this amazing angel package in the mail today - from Leah. It was from the Fall Stitch Marker Exchange - which I hosted. (I took this round off because of moving and all that jazz). Anyhow, last round, I sent out all my stitch markers but didn't receive a single set in return. Not one single set... boo hoo. So when looking for some angels for other people, I also hooked myself up to receive a few sets to replace the ones that never came...! Thank you Leah - I love the little package you sent me!

This morning we made it to my Aqua-Strollers class. It was fantastic. We lost power about 2 minutes into the class - got it back for about 5 minutes 20 minutes in, and then lost power again for the rest of the class. The class was a lot of fun. We were about a dozen mommies with their babies. Sean was the oldest baby. I guess I'm a little late in the "just had a baby and want to lose weight game" - even if I'm not doing this class to lose weight - being pregnant again and all. I really enjoyed the class and Sean really enjoyed being in the little floatie boat thing they gave each mom for their baby... and he even got toys to play with while in there - it was really cute. I got quite the workout! There are a few moves I can't do (being pregnant) but I knew that from all the previous aqua classes I've taken. I can't wait for next week!

Today I picked up this stroller, the Peg-Perego Aria Twin from a friend of the family/someone we do business with. They are done with it and were trying to find someone who needed it. It's in excellent condition, and I am so happy to take it off their hands. They have a son who is 2 months younger than Sean - but their older 2 boys (they have 3 boys) are both too old to be in a stroller. It was very nice of them to give us the stroller. I'm actually taking a class at the Y next week (the music class) with the little boy who is 2 months younger than Sean and his mommy. Sean will also be in the daycare program with him in the fall. I am sure I will still get another double stroller than is not side-by-side and which a bucket can fit into - but we'll check out those later on in the spring - when it's coming close to d-day.... this one above will be excellent once the new baby can sit up/hold it's neck on it's own.

I got these vases when we were living in the duplex, and never did anything with them. I finally found a use for them in the new house. I have them on my island in the middle of my kitchen - and they are filled with candy.... yes... sugar! Here's a close-up of what's inside:

Leftover Candy Canes from Christmas.... always colorful and pretty to look at! Tasty & Delicious!

Gold Coins. Jamie saw the ones I sent out in my December sock club kit that he had to have some for himself (He's a chocoholic!) Nice & shiny!

Lifesave lolly pops. Mmmm. My fave two are the red & purple ones. The orange ones are okay, and I do not like the taste of the green ones at all. Mmmm lifesavers!

Along with Bea - I've taken the 365 day blogging challenge. I do it anyhow. I blog daily. I always make a point to blog before going to bed. It's my release for the day. Just is. Always will be the way I'll do it. I've blogged daily since I started this blog in October of 2005. The only two days I have no blogged would be December 26th and 27th, 2006 when I was in labor at the hospital with Sean. (No wi-fi there!). People were wondering where I was because I hadn't blogged. It was two weeks before my due date... so no one was really even expecting me to be absent! But other than that... I've blogged daily...! 927 posts later... (Getting almost to 1,000! Probably will get there in about two and a half months? 73 days... whenever that is).

Today was a disaster outside. The wind was blowing really strong, and I've had off and on power all day. Sean took a super long nap this afternoon, so long that I had to have my mother come over and watch him for a bit so that I could run out to see the doctor. My lungs started becoming on fire this afternoon (maybe it wasn't a good idea to go swimming two days in a row when not feeling well?) and was diagnosed with bronchitis. I'm on antibiotics for 5 days, and I'll be done my doses on Sunday. It sucks being sick - but the last time I had bronchitis was while pregnant with Sean. (Three times sick with bronchitis while pregnant with him). I don't even think I have been sick since giving birth.... so getting sick now, was waaaay over due - let me tell you. Anyhow, back to the wind.... the wind was soo strong, everyone's recycling was all over the streets... blowing everywhere. My recycling bin was in front of my house when the wind started today - but after it was dumped into the truck - it must have blown away. I'm hoping someone rings my bell or leaves it on my doorstep (it has my address in marker on it)..... and I get it back? If not, I'm hoping that city hall will replace it. (I recycle so much that I have 2 bins, and now I'm down to 1).... (I recycle more than I throw out in the garbage...) Speaking of recycling....

Got a question... Can tissues (Kleenex) - be recycled? I really hate to throw them all out, germs and all. I know that sounds disgusting.... but I have been trying to look up information, and I can't seem to figure out if tissues (paper) can be recycled... We've been going through more Kleenex this week (between the 3 of us) than any of us have gone through all year. Seriously. So much that I had to buy more kleenex today - I ran out of stash in the cupboard.

Tomorrow I'm finally getting my gas tank door fixed at Acura, and we've got Sean's 12 month check up. Any guesses on how much he weighs?? I'm curious to find out tomorrow. Poor kid is getting his shots tomorrow too...

OH! Speaking of Sean..... I'm so proud of him! Tonight - I put him to bed after he drank a bottle, he was sleepy but FULLY awake. I tucked him into his crib, gave him a stuffed elephant to cuddle, turned on his lullaby music (Baby Einstein Lullaby Classics) and NOT one peep. Not a cry. Nothing. I'm amazed. Shocked. Delighted. Over come with joy.... I think this may be a beautiful start to a new bedtime routine after last bottle of the night is drank.... I'm super happy. Super glad. Knocking on wood....

I am in LOVE with Veronik's Wallpaper Mittens.... must knit myself a pair. They are just gorgeous. They've already been added to my queue in Ravelry. I think they are a must! Have you seen them? If not - go check them out - they're beautiful.

Tonight, my new best friend is Vick's VapoSteam (also prescribed by my doctor). Ahh, makes the nose feel good!

I hope Sean keeps up the good bedtime routine for you! Glad you finally received some stitch markers from the swap (I can't believe how people sign up, get something for themselves, and then don't send anything out!) What was that that Leah sent you with the geishas on the front, I LOVE that print!

Aww I'm sorry you're sick! I guess you won't be going to Ariadne tonight then? :(

I have never recycled tissues. Let me know if you find your answer!

Robyn, no, tissues cannot be recycled. Regular garbage it is.

Used tissues may not be recycled but can be composted. Same with paper towels.
back home we had big green bins from the municipality (liek the blue ones here) and these were for compostables and went to the municipal composting facility. It was possible to buy bags or truckloads of finished compost from the facility in the warmer months as it became available and made excellent garden amendment even though it had some non-compostables mixed in a little thanks to stupid people (hello? Bic pens..not compostable..). I wish Qc would get on board with municipal composting but they are still doing "feasibility" studies. Duuuuuhh! Its feasible!! Get on with it!

What a COOL idea to do with those vases! (Although the chocolate coin vase would be empty at my house in 5 minutes...)

And I'm COVETING that Peg Perego stroller; lucky girl! :)
