june seven :: 127 weeks old

Sean is 127 Weeks old today!

My Misty Garden Scarf was finished tonight, with just enough yarn to finish another repeat.
There are 94 repeats on this scarf, and it gave me a total of 52" unblocked. My guesstimate of how many inches I'd get out of this skein last night was correct. I had said I would get somewhere between 50-54 inches, and I got 52". I am curious to see how many more inches I'll gain once it's blocked. Hopefully I will have time this week to block it. In the picture above, is all the yarn of the entire skein. I didn't cut even a centimeter off.

Specs:
Pattern: Misty Garden Scarf by Jo Sharp.
For: Myself
Yarn: Posh Yarn Emily in green (exact colorway is unknown).
Needle: US 7 / 4.5 mm
Size: 52" unblocked
Timeline: June 7th, 2008 - June 7th, 2009. (Kept working on other project in between as I had to work on other stuff to not get sick of the same 4 line repeat - repetition can get boring sometimes so I like to have many projects on the go).
Modifications: Followed pattern as published though to the length that I was able to get out of the skein. Basically I made the amount of motifs that I could until I ran out of yarn.
Opinion: It was super easy to knit and after a few repeats it was super easy to memorize the pattern. This pattern was very similar to the Chevron Scarf.

Both kids slept in past 9 am today - what a treat that was! That's rare around here, but I'll take it when I can get it!

We went out for lunch with Jamie's cousins from New Jersey. Jamie's cousin Mike and his wife Stacey are expecting twin boys in October. That's so exciting! We hadn't seen them since their wedding in March of 2007. Sean was almost 3 months old at their wedding. Along with Mike & Stacey, Mike's brother Elie came with as well and their parents Belle & Leo. Belle crochets, so it was nice to talk to her about knitting/crochet, and I introduced her to Ravelry, and hopefully she'll get on! Both my boys have blankets that she crochet. Sean uses his at daycare every nap time. It was really nice to see them. I hope it's not 2 years before we see them again.

This afternoon we managed to get both boys down for a nap at the same time (also another rare occurrence in our house).

This evening we went to my parents house for dinner, our usual Sunday night dinner there. Sean was glued to the TV, of course.

And Mackie was in a good mood, as usual.

After dinner Mack gave us a performance on the piano in my parents basement.
He'll be a pro in no time!

My mom made a good point this evening when talking to her about the gorgeous 9 piece cooking set my in-laws got me for my birthday. Basically, my mom said to check to make sure that they are good for gaz stoves. (I have a gaz stove, and apparently there is a difference when it comes to pots used on a gaz stove, or an electric stove). I am definitely going to look into it.

We gave Sean a little laptop (A Libreto - I think that's what it's called the brand), that my dad found a while back in a drawer in his house, and we kept forgetting to take it out of the bag and let Sean use it. It actually still works. It has Windows 98 on it, and no games, nothing. We are going to see if we can install a kid game on it or something. Well, Sean's in love. He has his own computer. It'll keep him from trying to hit the keys on my laptop while I'm using it!

He knows how to use it too!

I am so happy I caught this on video. Too freakin' hysterical. Monkey see - monkey do. I guess I should be careful what I say - Sean copies everything we say now. Apparently I say "I'm checking my email" way too often that Sean checks his emails too. Just listen to the video!
