june thirteen

Today I had the Montreal Knitting Guild's Summer Garden Party. On my way I found a street that had my name. Well sort of. Just spelled wrong! (Cuz my name is spelled right, of course!) I doubt I'll see a street with my name spelled correctly around here, but I don't know. Maybe it does exist, lol.

I was the only "youngin'" member of the knitting guild there today. I didn't mind being the youngest knitter there. I had a great time regardless!

I cast on for my 2nd Clapotis. Yes, I'm getting on the bandwagon again. I had made three quarters of one once, and then started to hate the solid color of it, so someone else finished it for me. This time, I'm making it in a variegated colorway, so that I do not get sick of it in a solid color. I hope it comes out nicely in the Mirasol Hacho in Peacock Ripple (#302).

After the summer garden party for the guild I picked up some groceries on my way home and then picked up Mack and went to my parents house to swim with my sister and dad. Sean had just gone down for a nap so Jamie stayed home with him while I went out with Mack for a bit.

Mackie & I before heading into the cold pool!

My adorable Mack in his swim gear.

You see this ladle in his hands? Yep, he takes it everywhere. Funny kid. Does he think he's going to be having Matzoh Ball Soup?

My sister, Mack & I in the pool.

We had a good time swimming and only stayed in until Mack started to get fussy/cold. The pool was only 80° which is a bit cooler than the pool we used to take swimming lessons in. When we took those lessons back at the beginning of the year, the pool was kept around 83°. It does make a difference. Especially since the area around us was cool. I didn't last too long in there either. On a hot hot day of like 90°+ a pool of 80° is absolutely a pleasure to get dunked in!

We barbecued chicken and zucchinis for dinner tonight. Jamie had hockey this evening so Amy came over to help me tonight. She played with Sean until his bed time while I baked the cupcakes and a cake for tomorrow. After Sean went to bed she helped me dice red, yellow & orange peppers for the pasta salad that I made. I diced the celery. It was a lengthy process but well worth it in the end. We were going to sit down on the couch if there was enough time to knit, but we ended up being super exhausted by the time we were done dicing. Thank you Amy for the help!

Now I'm pooped and I have to get up early tomorrow for Mack's 1st birthday party, so stay tuned for some pictures of that tomorrow!

Yeah swimming! Here it is plenty hot enough for wanting to be dunked in an 80o pool.

I love your swim hat! It's amazing that Mack can go in the pool- I'm jealous for Henri. I hope he's able to swim soon too! Who would have thought you'd be knitting a PURPLE clapotis?? :)

I had to laugh at the street sign. The last years we lived in Montreal ('94-'96), were on Avenue Montrose, just a stone's throw across the 20 from Robin/Starling.
