This morning, the football quarterback was there as his daughter takes swimming lessons at the same time as Mack does. I had brought my Grey Cup 2008 hat with me, that I bought at the game, with a sharpie marker, but afterwards in the family locker room, I chickened out in asking him for his autograph. I get to see him for the next 9 Tuesday mornings, I’m sure I’ll gather the courage to ask him soon! He’s a rather big guy (football player!) and kind of nice on the eyes… Sorry Saku Koivu (since you no longer play for the Habs), I think I have a new celebrity crush. You should have heard my friend Natalia and I in our swim class this morning (with our sons) giggling like little school girls.
I get home from swimming and before heading out to work the mail comes. I go to get it, and noticed there’s a letter from the Sherriff's Office. I rushed to open it, not sure what I was going to find. I’ve been summoned for Jury Duty, for the first time ever. I don’t see a real reason why I shouldn’t or can’t do it, so I’m going to reply to it, saying that I’m only bilingual in English (because I do speak French, but I would not be able to understand a fully French trial, my French is no where near that good), and see what happens. I now need to call the court house and see if knitting’s allowed. (I don’t see why not?) Have you ever been called for Jury Duty? Was it a one day thing? Were you sequestered for a few days? Did you bring knitting along? (Or crochet?) Was it a good experience? I’m kind of nervous. What if the person on trial is found Guilty and comes after the Jury Members? (Or do I watch too much Law & Order and CSI?) All these things to think about.
Today I finished the socks for my swap pal. I’m kind of nervous, because I’m not sure if they’ll fit her. Hoping they do! This is now the 2nd time that I’ve knit socks for a swap pal. I better now get on Jamie’s socks that I promised him for Xmas 2009, before he gets mad that I snuck a pair of socks for someone else in between!
Pattern: Vintage Rose Socks
For: My Swap Pal (She hasn’t received them yet)
Yarn: Perfect Day Yarns Free Verse Sock
Needles: US 2 - 2.75 mm
Size: Women’s Medium. Hopefully they’ll fit her!
Timeline: March 25 – April 6, 2010
Modifications: Followed pattern as written, to length desired.
Opinion: I loved the Flower pattern part over the Bird pattern part, as the Bird pattern part I found a little fiddly to do, but maybe it’s because I haven’t worked with cables in a little while. I am also not a fan of k3tog. I hope my pal likes them.
