07-07-07

I went for a haircut upon waking up today. (Sean and I both slept almost 12 hours last night, and the night before, and the night before that too). I was talking on Wednesday night about Sean sleeping 9-10 hours with Jenn (who's son Jakob just started sleeping from about 12 or 1 am until 5 am, and then my son goes and sleeps 12 hours for the next 3 nights. (Wed night, Thurs night, and Friday night!)

My fabulous friend Daniele cuts my hair. She charges me only 20$ for a trim & blowdry. This is fabulous, especially since I'm a very low maintenance person, and I don't care for salon treatments, etc. (Except for eyebrow waxing!) Anyhow, today I brought her some jewelry that I make, and she accepted that as her tip, instead of the 5$ I was going to give her on top of the $20. I didn't want to take my 5$ back, but she insisted! She thought it was wicked that she got some new earrings, and put them in right away. I actually have more earrings just like them to put in my shop, which I will be doing a huge shop update early next week.

Anyhow, turns out she trimmed a little bit more than I expected, but my hair is really tidy now, no split ends. Daniele was shocked at how healthy my hair is, compaired to the last time I went to see her. (The last haircut I got was last August, but it wasn't by her, since she was out of town for her sister's wedding), so it was the week I conceived, because I went for an impromptu haircut then (April 2006). I told her it must be because of the pregnancy. I got a little bit of layering, upon Daniele's request. What do you think? I'm still growing out my hair, but needed to get rid of the split ends to make it grow even longer & healthier.

I went to the post office today to mail some stuff for Jamie and my Piddlee samples along with her order from my Etsy shop, while out running errands, Sean was fast asleep! He was too cute.

He likes to grip his toys while he sleeps. I've never seen another baby do this before, have you?

I've been watching Live Earth on MSN's live feed. I've been introduced to Eskimo Joe & Missy Higgins (Whom I love). I watched the Foo Fighters, Madonna, UB40, and that's about all I cared to watch, or was around to watch. I've been trying to go a little bit "greener" lately, as you may have noticed. Recycling, for one. I know I can't get Jamie to care about recycling, but I am all for it. I want to make this world a better place for Sean's future, and any other children I may have, and for their children, and for their children's children... etc. If we don't make any changes now, this world won't be a good place for them to live in the future.

This evening we went over to Jamie's dad & step-mom's for dinner (spaghetti with homemade meat sauce with salad with my mother-in-law's dressing) (both are my fave and so this is my fave meal in the entire world, whole wheat pasta of course). (Oh, and to make it even more fave, they had my fave bottle of wine out - Beaujolais-Village). My sister-in-law came in for the weekend with my nephew, and her boyfriend along with his kids. (It was a full house tonight!) Jamie's sister lives 3 and a half hours away, so it's hard for us to see them often. But we do make the effort. Hopefully we'll get to see them again before my nephew's 5th birthday in November. But it seems like there is always something every weekend!

I worked on my Jaywalkers a little bit tonight. I think I'm ready to turn the heel. Or maybe I'll do another inch. It says to make the leg part about 6 and 3/4 inches. I have about 5 almost, and that may be just about fine by me.

Got a question though.... about the heel:

Heel flap: k21 sts on needle #1, turn. Sl1, P41, turn.

Does this mean I knit 21 stitches on needle #1, turn, sl1 and purl the 20 stitches on needle 1 and then the 21 stitches on needle #4??
Just want to make sure that I understand this correctly.

Because usually when I do a short-row heel, I use the stitches on needles 1 & 2. But this time, I'm following the exact pattern, for my 2nd ever gusset heel, that's what it's called right? (Gusset?)

Anyhow, if you want to look over the pattern and tell me if I'm thinking this correctly, you can find the pattern here.

I love the hair!

And regarding the Jaywalkers heel, the way you describe is how I remember doing it.

Hey I was checking out the Jaywalker pattern and in the part where they talk about the foot it says: "Note: in the heel and foot portions, the instep stitches on needles #2 and #3..." From this I gather that the heel sts would be done on needles 1 and 4, and the instep sts are on 2 and 3. Hope that helps!

I love your hair - looks great! Awww, Sean looks so peaceful sleeping and gripping his toy (don't think I've seen that before, but to be honest I don't really remember if I have or not). Sorry, can't help you with the Jaywalkers since I haven't done that pattern yet.

Sounds like you had a great time at your in-law's. The dinner sounds yummy!

Your hair is cute like that!

Sean is just too cute...Oliver holds stuff in his sleep like that, too. He had that same caterpillar until Jasper ate it!

Isn't it great when they sleep all night? You are so lucky!
