Odd Things & People & The 20$ Find

After waking up this morning, my cousin Jenn called to confirm our date today to go to the Downtown Montreal Knitting Meetup. I had never been and we both read each other's minds yesterday and decided to go today. While on the phone this ebay seller's name came up: The-Mohairknitter. Oh my! Oh my. Oh my! This suit below - sells for 480$ US and actually sells! The seller has 1200+ positive feedback and 600+ unique positived. Some people have leather fetishes and I guess some people have mohair cat suit fetishes.

This should be classified as WHAT THE HECK WAS SHE THINKING?

....WEIRD. But this is kinda cute. I'd never personally dress my pet up - but hey, I know people who do - and just laugh at them (my mother used to dress up our family GREAT DANE! (I need to post pictures on Flickr of the photoshoot I did with my parents' last Great Dane Tyson. But I was mimicking William Wegman's style of photography for a school project - so I have a SANE reason for dressing up a dog.)

Jenn came by, I wasn't ready yet - due to stuff I was doing for school (a little bit) this morning, and quickly got ready once she got here. We left, and headed to the shopping center near my house. First stop was the post office as I had to mail 2 packages for 1 swap I am in (the Card Making Kit Swap (which I posted a photograph of yesterday) and I found a TWENTY DOLLAR BILL just laying there - near the post office. I asked the girl at the cash if it was anyone's and since it's finders keepers - I took it. HA! I made 20$ this morning! Couldn't believe it. Who knows who dropped it - but it looked as though it had been sitting there for a while - so it was my lucky day. With that - I paid for lunch for Jenn & I, and Jamie had requested a sandwich from Tim Hortons (where we ate quickly) and I quickly headed back home to drop off Jamie's lunch and quickly pick up something else and we headed on our way to the Downtown Montreal Knitting Meetup.

I had a good time today there, meeting a LOT of new people, and seeing some friendly and familiar faces.

I STARTED TURNING THE HEEL ON MY FIRST SOCK TODAY! Ain't she a beauty? I love it! I love it! I love it! And I love my progress!!!

Jenn and I stayed longer than we thought, I thought the knitting meeting was from 1-3pm, but I guess it's for however long you want to be there - and we were there until about 4:30pm, when this homeless lady sat down next to Jenn & I - at a table that we had our stuff in - which Kadi (another knitter was sitting at - but she moved to say hello to girls on the other side of the tables). Now, this table was cornered by a wall and THE ENTIRE cafe was dead with no one in it practically - WHY did she HAVE to sit next to us - with her huge duffle bag, her plastic bags and wet coat and wet umbrella. First off, she SMELLED like she hadn't showered in 2 months, and after sitting down, she stuck her hand into her jacket, scratched one armpit excessively, and then moved onto the next armpit. That was my cue to leave.... so Jenn & I left ... as other knitters were slowly trickling out anyhow. I had to get home, as I have a project due tomorrow (which I just finished before - I am pleased with it - it's my stationary with my logo on it - business card and envelope as well).

Just finished watching the Season Premiere of Sopranos with Jamie & his friend Daniel. I guess Daniel got here some time during the afternoon while I was at the knitting meetup. Soprano's was sooo good tonight. Can't wait for next week.

Zeus likes sleeping in the "Corners" of my office. So cute.

{My First Sock} : Sock Progress

At Walmart today I needed toilet paper and a specific colour yarn that my mother in law was using that I feel in love with. They had two balls left and it was an exact match (I had a strand from my mother in law to match & compare). While in Walmart - of course I spent more money. Hubby wanted nibs and regular licorice, and some other items, I also fell in love with a fabric (PINK!) that was on sale - so I bought 10m of it! (I HAVE A LOT and MUST pull out my sewing machine now to use!!) What else... bought enough toilet paper to last me until Thanksgiving (that's for sure). I posted a while ago about owning a lot of toilet paper. See November 21st, 2005. That toilet paper has lasted me until now (I still have 6 rolls left). But I knew I'd need soon, and got a FANTASTIC price on toilet paper - so I bought 4 packages of 24 rolls of toilet paper today - and currently have 96 rolls - which should last me at least 6-8 months! (We're only 2 people!). But toilet paper is one thing I hate shopping for - so I stock up when there is a good deal. I spent less on 24 rolls of t.p. at Walmart - than 12 rolls costs on sale at my local pharmacy. Weird? Sometime this week will be the week to pull out my sewing machine and start crafting. I really want to learn how to use my machine! Dying to learn. (Need lessons maybe?)

I must kick my ass and get to the gym. I must go to the gym. MUST!

I have frogged the sock like 5 times between Wednesday and last night. When I went to bed last night, I finally had a few rows of ribbing done.

MY SNB Happy Hooker book is somewhere in transit to me. I was emailed on Thursday night that it was shipped, should have received it on Friday. I'm crossing my fingers it will come first thing Monday morning with my mail before I leave to school.

I am debating ordering these 2 patterns. I'd really like to make either or both (probably in black so it matches more and probably with long sleeves (for the first one) - as this in short sleeves would probably look bad on me).

This morning I worked on my Adobe Illustrator in class and then was finished about 45 minutes before class ended, so I decided to knit in class until class was over. To your left, this is how much I got done last night/today, before frogging it, because I dropped a stitch (can you see up top closer to the left hand side?) and it started unravelling. I tried using a thin needle to loop the stitches back together, but it just didn't work, so I frogged it - and have since restarted (a few times) lol.

This afternoon Jamie & I watched Survivor from last night, and also Apprentice from Monday night, which was both on tape. (Didn't have time to watch them as they were on, so we taped them). I knitted while watching, since Jamie doesn't seem to care whether we cuddle or I knit, lol... I think we stopped cuddling while watching TV a while ago - and now we're totally in a comfort zone).

I picked up some food this afternoon, as we were in DIRE need for groceries. Fridge was getting empty, and some regular stuff that we regularly need - we didn't have. (Jamie needed cream for his coffee and I needed some other items that are used on a regular basis).

After dinner Jamie started his poker game with everyone who was over. Tonight was a pretty full house. Tonight I learned that Jamie's sister will be staying with us next weekend but she's coming in on Thursday (we have a huge family 40th birthday party for 3 people turning 40 next weekend.)

I received my package from Cynthia today!! So exciting. I missed the postman so I had to go to the post office to get it, and then when I got home, I got distracted by the people at my house, and then eventually I realized that it was sitting in my office, so I went to open it. WOWO! I can't even begin to say how I am impressed with the stuff she sent me!

The first item I pulled out was this AWESOME Crochet Kitty pillow. WOW!

I got pink yarn from Daiso - YUMMY (I'm imagining all the things I can make with this!)

And more pink goodies! (Can we see that I LOVE pink?) I got some strawberry sew/iron on patches, a pink storage box (NEEDED ONE ACTUALLY!) and some pink candies, and pink gum, pink beaded bracelet (Cyn did you make it? I love it!) and some bowlo cards (will definitely be scrapbooking with these!) and a gorgeous handmade stamp, some pink soap that smells delicious, and pink lip smackers. (I WANT/NEED Daiso to come to Montreal to open a store! Cyn - if they have a suggestion box in the store - please enter in my request!)

Above are MORE gorgeous items that Cynthia made me! I love it all. LOVE IT! A tissue cozy for my purse, a pouch, a crochet hook holder (NEEDED ONE - THANKS HUN!) and a book thong (bookmark!)

An awesome embellished tin, that I absolutely adore. First off, I'd love to know where to get tins like these (like what are they from?), they are absolutely perfect size to store things in - I want embellish some too!

And some awesome goodies INSIDE the embellished tin (note paper, postcards and stickers!

I also got a notebook (I journal - so this is fantastic) and stationary (which I love - as I write letters) and a homemade face cloth (which I'll use in the shower - I discovered cotton works best when using shower gel/soap in the shower rather than with the daily soap I use on my face) and a gorgeous homemade sock cat (instead of a sock monkey). (Speaking of Sock Monkey - I'm still waiting for my sock monkey kit in the mail - I wonder what happened to it?)

And LAST but definitely NOT least:

A pink purse that I am absoultey IN LOVE with. It's got a black cat on it (Cynthia and I have a black cat each that I swear are brother and sister! We're both Canadian, so who knows, it's very possible!) But this tote bag (purse to me - since I love LARGE bags) is just to die for. I am sorry - but I'm naming it my favourite piece in the package that I received! (Cynthia - I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! I love EVERYTHING in this package - but this bag just is the icing ont he cake). I am very jealous though. I wish I could make stuff like this! I am very intimidated by my sewing machine, but I'm DYING to learn how to use it. I keep saying "This will be the weekend I take it out and give it a try" (but then it doesn't happen).

I sent Cynthia a whole bunch of craft supplies and stationery, including some pink yarn (which she apparently always needs), glitter glue (she told me she LOVES glitter), paint, a roll of foam flowers, a pink butterfly, kitty note cards and heart notepad, candy hearts, raspberry tea (because it's PINK and Raspberry!), a cat photography book, a kitty photo album, a scrapbook calendar kit, an asian wine bottle cozy, a trivet, a big foot foot scrubber (since she's Big Girl Feet - the blog), pink stripped gloves (that I thought were AWESOME).

This is my "MAIN BIG PROJECT" I worked on. A hat and scarf. I was soo happy that I had enough yarn to finish both - as I can't find this yarn anywhere here (was purchased out of Montreal). I hope to find some more - the yarn was delicious to work with.

I also sent her some craft supplies - some pompoms, paint, roll of slide film (can't forget how photography was back before DIGITAL days! - I love slide film and then developing it through regular film development - it's called Cross Processing. VERY COOL EFFECTS), Tin of mints, MANY ZIPPERS for craft projects, a cool mesh little pouch, and some FUNKY jewelry (that I wish I could take credit for making - but it's actually from a local Montreal Jewelry maker (he usually sells in Old Montreal during the summer - but I happened to catch him this winter selling in a shop - LOVE his stuff - kind of pricey though - but I HAD to spoil Cynthia!)

And last but not least:

Made Cynthia a pin cushion with three different shades of pink - since it's her favourite colour as well!

This was actually the first time I'm following a pattern (reading a pattern!) I am amazed with myself!

I threw on a label onto the bottom. I was going to put labels onto the scarf & hat, but I don't really like how it goes on stiff - so I don't put labels on things I make that are clothing right now - I must get soft material labels. Not 100% impressed with these labels.

Knitting Things

Class this morning was a drag, but I got back my project that was submitted over a month ago (teacher has been terrible at returning projects). I got a 13.5/15 (on my coin, self portrait without using our picture & my sheep knitting itself into a sock). Pretty happy with that mark - I lost some points because one of my files was in RGB but should have been in CMYK - which I swore it was - but for 1 point I am not going to argue it - as I burned the wrong copy of the file onto my cd - and for 1 point - I'm just not going to care. It's not worth arguing over.

This afternoon I got an itch to go check out Value Village for yarn. Boy did I score (I think). I got yarn and knitting needles (for an excellent price might I add).

And then there's the knitting needles story... Went to the cash with 3 packages of needles (assorted in each). (I am glad that I bought all 3 bags though, because there were some needles that the matching one was thrown into the other bag - so I would have been stuck with just one needle! What the heck?) Anyhow, 3 bags at 4.99 each plus taxes does not equal 11.48$ (It's more like 17.21$). So I basically scored a free bag of knitting needles. I went through the 3 bags tonight, matched up sizes (all the DPN's I had to size first with my gauge detector thingy) and here's what I ended up with - (DPN's and full sets of needles only {there was a bunch of needles that did not have it's matching pair}

So tonight I decided to start working on my socks even more. Little did I realize that 2 of the rows I started with the wrong stitching (knit or purl) so 2 of the sides (2 DPN's came out fine with knit 2, purl 2, knit 2, purl 2 (etc) and the other 2 sides ended up shorter because it ended up as garter ridges. FUCK! I am so upset. (See picture below)

The garter ridges made one half hte sock shorter because that's how garter ridging works.... So me, being a perfectionist and since it's ONLY 4 rows, I will be frogging it and starting over in a few minutes infront of the TV. If I was further down the sock I probably wouldn't have restarted - and as my cousin Jenn says, that most knitters like to have 1 mistake in their sock for some reason or another that I can't understand - but it's only 4 rows in - and it's bothering me! I also don't want half the sock to curl in because of the messed up ribbing.

Alrighty - back to knitting. (I have an assignment due in my Adobe Illustrator class tomorrow morning, but it's due at the END of the class - so I will finish it in class - as I am NOT in the mood to do homework today (but must do homework over the weekend at some point - as I have a few projects due next week!)

Jamie's out playing poker downtown, so I'm off to knit!

Knitting Meetup

I went to my 3rd knitting meetup (ever). My cousin didn't go - so it was my first time going alone. The people there are always SUPER nice, so that was good. 2 knitters I'd met before, (Molly Ann & Kadi) and there was Mary and Angela (whom I've been talking to over Montreal Knits and now via MSN). Everyone is super nice. I can't wait to go to the regular meeting next Wednesday (with more of a sock!) Tonight was an impromptu meeting.

I worked on my sock. Took me from 7:45pm - 9:30pm to do ONE row. (The first row after casting on). FRUSTRATING. But it's a great feeling, and now that the first row is done, it'll be so much easier to knit, as the next rows will just flow. I don't know why it's sooooo difficult to do the first row, but atleast I'm not the only one who feels this way. Phew!

Time for bed. Early class tomorrow.

My Bathroom Before & After: Renovation Part 1

Here is my bathroom before the paint job - nice mint green tiles - yummy (sarcastic) from the 1950's and also, the nice mint green paint on the walls! Gorgeous! (sarcastic!)

Then came along painter Steve, and washed the green paint away (sung to the tune of Itsy Bitsy Spider)... and now the walls are GORGEOUS French Vanilla Cream!

Oh! And the hole in my ceiling is fixed! Kinda happy about that.

Stay tuned next week for Steve's friend (not sure his name yet) who will be renovating my bathroom floor. (WHICH I HATE RIGHT NOW - the current one!)

The Missing Bottle of Easy-Off

Plumbers woke me up VERY early this morning and started working in my kitchen as well as in the kitchen upstairs to move the pipes the run along from my garage right through my kitchen right to upstairs. Somewhere between my kitchen and upstairs the pipes were freezing and my tenants were out of water in their kitchen for a while. Anyhow, while moving stuff, my plumber's found my missing bottle of Easy-Off. I knew I couldn't have thrown it out or anything - and was going crazy looking for it. I couldn't find it - so I went out and bought another bottle. The original bottle was found behind my breadmaker - which I am moving downstairs on the shelf next to my fondu pot and electric wok - as I don't use them regularly and they honesly take up space.

I am so happy this bottle of easy-off was found. It's amazing what you find when cleaning up. I am not really happy with the mess that the plumbers have made in my kitchen - but what can you do? You know?

I started on my house spring cleaning today - and I am getting A LOT accomplished and I am very happy about that. I do not want to go out tonight without finishing, but I have a lot more to do in order to get to my 7 pm knitting meet up - that I want to go to. It's just after 3 pm now and I want to finish cleaning up - and I guess I won't have time to go to the gym before the knitting meet up.

There are things that I want to organize - but not too sure what to do with them. I have clothes that need to be folded and put away (been doing laundry as well). I WANTED to get to the gym today, but it seems as though I will only get to the gym tomorrow - I don't have a choice. The painter is not back yet and I do not want to leave him alone in my house to do work with me not here. Plus when he actually gets back here I don't think he'll be too long.

I should kick my ass and get back to spring cleaning. I can't wait to go to the knitting meet up tonight and just relax! I am in need of that. I am also very happy that I don't have my afternoon class tomorrow - so I can come home and finish my clean-up. Jamie's playing poker tomorrow night with some guys so he won't be home. I was debating staying at school tomorrow to work on some stuff with Laura - but I have a computer at home and I really don't feel like staying tomorrow. I am going to cancel on her.

I think I will *TRY* to do my ab routine workout - if I can't get to the gym today, it's a routine that I can do at home or at the gym. I keep putting it in my head that I WILL fit into those jeans by my birthday. I WILL.

Face Project Progress

This morning I over-slept. I usually get up around 6:30 am to get to my 8 am class. I usually leave the house around 7:10pm and park by car by 7:20-7:25, as if I leave any later parking can be a hassle. I like to guarantee that I have a spot. Today I accidently slept in until a few minutes past 7 am (didn't even hear my alarm go off) but Jamie started nudging me around 7 am to go use the bathroom before he needed it. I sprinted up after realizing the time, and was out of the house by 7:33 am. I got to school around 7:45 am, and it took me a while to find parking, but I was in class by 8 am - ready - waiting.

Eventually it's going to look like the original face. (Apparently) I am still a little freaked out by this assignment, but apparently my teacher says my progress is coming along. Today I had to start burning & dodging in the shadows & highlights. HARD! Really. I am wondering how this project will turn out in the end!

My HTML exam was in 2 parts. First mulitple choice and worth only 5% of our final grade (I got 3.8/5 (really 11.5/15 brought down to 3.8/5). I got 2 mistakes for 2 questions on Dreamweaver as we only started dreamweaver last week and he DID NOT tell us that there was going to be any dreamweaver questions on an HTML exam - but I wasn't going to open my mouth for 2 questions, wasn't worth the breath, and then the second part of the exam, was on computer and we had to put together 2 pages in HTML coding - and I don't know my mark on that yet, but I am positive that I did well - as I breezed through it and it was sooo easy!

Laura came over this afternoon to do some homework with me, and then stayed for supper, which I made whole wheat pasta with Sun Dried Tomato sauce and homemade garlic bread (made the garlic butter myself too! fresh! Sooooo yummy!) We watched the Toronto Maple Leafs kick our butt tonight (SO SAD) but Huet goaltended EXTREMELY well tonight. I worked on my cream/grey crochet blanket a bit (VERY HAPPY WITH THE PROGRESS OF IT) and then Laura left.

Someone created an inpromptu knitting meetup tomorrow night, at the 2nd Cup near my house. I think I am going to go - seems like there will be a different crowd of knitters than whom usually go - I hope my cousin Jenn comes - I have something for her! A little present and I've been dying to give it to her. (I do need to go see her to get my glasses adjusted, but with the painter and plumber coming tomorrow - I have no idea how long they will be here - so maybe I'll go on the weekend to get them fixed. Saturday works for me - or even Friday afternoon - but I must go soon, my fave black pair of glasses keep sliding down my face when I look down - they are loose (probably from them getting bent when I watch TV and lie on them - or fall asleep in bed with them on - SHHH! Don't tell my Uncle!)

Crochet Update

Today I stayed in bed a bit in the morning watching LOST on DVD (caught up to the end of episode 11 in Season 2). The guy renovating my bathroom came and did some initial plastering. He did 2 coats (with about an hour of drying in between and when he came back he brought the guy to look at my bathroom floor - which will be re-tiled next Wednesday, March 15th! I AM SO EXCITED LET ME TELL YOU! (I hate my bathroom and these touch ups will be fantastic). Anyhow so Steve will be back tomorrow to plaster again and then Wednesday to paint my bathroom uppwe walls (and behind the door) a nice French Vanilla. I will photograph the before and after for the walls and the floor as well. I am sooooo sick of my stick-on tiles that I got at Home Depot and want real tiles on the floor. The tiles under the stick-on's are from when the house was originally built in the 1950's and are NASTY! (EWWW!) (So call me a princess - I like CLEAN things in my house!) (I'll post my bathroom from my old apartment as soon as I scan the pics, so you can see why I was sooo happy to move out of there to a place with a CLEAN tub - but the rest of the bathroom needed a little of renovations!

Tonight after getting back from the gym (had my 3rd session with my trainer Ryan on abs & cardio) I worked on this new blanket I'm crocheting while watching 24 with Jamie. It's cream with different shades of grey stripes. I have 1 more shade of grey to add in (two different sets of rows for it) but I was testing out my crochet hook size - the yarn as well as the pattern. This is my first time continuing on with this pattern. The last thing I tried making with this pattern ended up curling up on me (I still wantt o re-try doing it since I have the yarn for that (the browns and beiges) so we'll see how this "baby" afghan turns out. I am happy with the progess so far.

Here is a full length picture of the chair - as it's my new chair. Jamie put it together for me yesterday and I absolutely LOVE IT. So now I have a spare chair in my office for when guests are over - they don't have to sit on this little foot bench we keep in the den to put our feet up on while watching TV!

I FINALLY received my knitting button set today in the mail. I absolutely love it. So damn cute. I had ordered them a long time ago - but there was some problems for it to be shipped to Canada - but I finally got them today! So delicious. I will be pinning them to my knitting bag - and maybe to the purse I'm carrying around right now (as they would look pretty good on there too) and be a proud knitter! Buttons are so much fun! And they were a very excellent price!

Spring Cleaning Somewhat Accomplished

Last night I baby-sat Lucas & Vanessa. They are the easiest two kids in the world (my father's best friend's kids). We played with my camera a lot during the evening taking over 120 pictures and the kids made faces and wore funny hats and sunglasses and made me laugh, which made them laugh. We attempted to play Monopoly, but because Vanessa is only just turned 4 years old, she wasn't into playing Monopoly as she really didn't understand it - and so she was restless. We compromised and let Lucas watch the hockey game (Montreal Canadiens kicked ass last night beating Tampa Bay Lightning 6-2). Then we put in Charlie & the Chocolate Factory (I LOVE THIS MOVIE) and I worked on a crochet project (which I'm almost done - finally) Speaking of crochet projects - here is the baby blanket I just finished and finally photographed.

I do have so many other projects that I've finished and photographed but I can't really post any of those on here yet, due to the recipients not receiving them yet!

This morning Jamie & I went out for breakfast (as he won in poker on Friday night) and then we headed out to Reno Depot to pick out tiles for our bathroom floor. I picked a white tile with a light cream design flowing through the tile. I will take pictures once the new floor has been laid down. I picked up some storage stuff while there, and jumped into cleaning up as soon as we got home. I had an idea for a piece I had in the bathroom to use in my office for storage, so I replace it with someone else a little different and put the piece in to my office closet and everything is working out for the best now! I cleaned up a bunch of stuff that I didn't need, found some stuff that I didn't realize I even had, and even though my office need more work, I got A LOT accomplished today and I am very happy/proud about it!

Speaking of organization - I finally photographed the earring displays (2 of them as I have SO many pairs of earrings) and also my bracelet display organizer. They are finally on my dresser in the bedroom and it's nice and organized (I love them & I love the organization!)

Above is the 2 clear earring display units - next to each other. Each is supposed to hold 210 pairs, but since most of my earrings are danglies - I can't use the bottom rows as the earrings won't fit. Also, some earrings are wide, and they take up the space of 2 pairs. So there is not quite 210 pairs in each - but they both are full!

I absolutely love my bracelet display holder. It's absolutely gorgeous. Well worth the money I spent on it on ebay. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something similar. I have bracelets on both sides, one side is obviously hidden.

This evening we went to visit Jamie's grandmother and cousins, Aunt & Uncle (whom all live together). We got fed chicken soup and perogies (Jamie's Aunt is an excellent cook) and that was dinner for us. Jamie brought his little cousin a ton of old hockey cards to play with (he was very happy and excited about that) and I brought Jamie's cousin Andra some jewelry (3 necklaces) that I didn't want anymore.

I am off to bed to go watch LOST. Need to get up early and shower before the guy shows up to start renovating our bathroom!

A Present From Daddy

Got woken up by my father (whom I still call "Daddy") pretty early this morning with a present. He told me to go to the front door. And there he was - with a huge box! A brand new chair for my office. (I have a chair, but it's not the best back support in the world - plus I needed a new chair for myself, and I wanted a second chair in my office for guests and now I have my old chair for guests!) Jamie has to put it together, so I will show you once done! Then I went back to sleep, and slept in a little bit more, as I stayed up pretty late last night in bed watching episodes of LOST. I am trying to catch up so that I can watch the recent up to date episodes on TV.

This morning after getting up I worked all morning on my stitch markers for the swap that Lain is hosting. I have 4 partners that I will be mailing 5 to each, and got them all done. I even package them all up to be mailed. Each person is getting 5 different ones from the others. I have photographed them, but will only be posting the pictures once the recipients receive them, as I think they are all aware of my blog. (It's not a secret swap so I emailed them to say hello, to see what kind of projects they knit, etc).

I made it to the gym for 1pm today, for my apointment with Ryan. Today we worked on upper body, and it wasn't that bad of a workout, and thank goodness I didn't really need to use my legs, as they were still in pain.

After the gym, I started doing things around my office, but I am not too sure really if anything actually really got accomplished.

Anyhow, I need to pick up some knittting/crochet, some movies and stuff to go baby-sitting (for my dad's best friend so they can go out for my dad's birthday which is Wednesday). I need to be there for 7:20pm, so I better get cracking!

My Logo & Cool Finds

Came home, Jamie brought me lunch - what a nice husband, eh? I did a few things in my office and then we crawled into bed together and napped for a good hour and a half. We talked a bit, snoozed, talked a bit, napped more.. it was so nice. I love napping on a Friday afternoon. It's fantastic.

After getting up, my in-law's showed up and we had a fantastic roast beef dinner. Delicious!

This evening I worked a bit on my logo as a version of it is due on Monday. I can't believe that Monday wil be week 9 in school and this semester ends at week 15. Where did the semester go? Where did January & February go?

Above is my logo in different versions, to see how they'd look. My teacher approved one, and I worked a bit more on fixing it. (Her elbow (bottom one) needed rounding and the camera needed a white line).

And this is my final version of my personal logo. I need to create stationary, business cards and envelopes for my Visual Communications class. Let me tell you - it was VERY hard trying to figure out what to come up with for my own personal stationary. What do you think of it?

I did some laundry tonight and I'm about to go crawl into bed and watch some episodes of LOST. Things that I wanted to get accomplished tonight didn't - but I am glad that I finished working on my logo - it's partially due Monday. So many things to do this weekend!

Body in Pain

Another long day today. I got up later than I usually do on Thursday. I set my alarm for 6:30 am, but only got out of bed closer to 7 am. I usually am out of the door by 7:10 am, so today I left closer to 7:20 am. Funny thing is - I got to my parking spot around the same time and was still extremely early getting to school. I still had plenty of time to sit comfortably and crochet for a good while before the teacher even came and opened the door. I managed to crochet an entire 2 and half rows in the blanket today. 1 row is 138 double crochet stitches. So I roughly did about 345 stitches today. Only about 2 and half more rows (which is all the ball of yarn will maybe even give me) and I will be done the blanket. WOO HOO! Very excited to finally be finished it, so I can finish up on some other projects and get started on new ones! WOOHOO! I've been knitting more lately too - which is good... working on a secret project for my personal swap with Cynthia in Vancouver. My sister wants to do a swap with me, but for her I will make it less crafty, as my sister is not so crafty, and would love a swap of other stuff. I have to start that one after I finish up with Cynthia's swap package.
I really want to get all my crocheting done tonight on the blanket. Probably while Jamie & I are watching TV. I just finished working on my Illustrator project that was due last Friday (but I didn't go to class) so it's ready for tomorrow. I had already finished it, but I wanted to fine tune it before burning it on CD-Rom to hand in. I also need to print it out, but I will do that once I get my computer back tonight when Jamie gets in from work. I am on my laptop right now (which Jamie uses in his office as his computer - I'm a nice wife - I let him use it).

The other night at Adam & Zee's I got LOST Season 2 Episodes 1-9 on DVD that Adam had downloaded, so I'm watching it right now on my little personal DVD player. Trying to catch up so I am up to date by next week when it's on NBC.

I didn't get any regular mail today, my mailbox was completely empty, but I got a ring on my doorbell just before and I received my I CROCHET sweatshirt and tshirt. The sweatershirt fits beautifully and I have yet to try on the tshirt. I will later, right now I can't move at all, Ryan my gym trainer worked the shit out of me yesterday and now I can't walk properly and I'm in pain. And yet, I am going to do a second session with him tomorrow, at 5pm, for my upper body (yesterday was lower body). I really hope that I can function on the weekend after tomorrow's session. And also, I really hope that this training session works, as I would like to fit back into a pair of pants that I have that still have the tag on them, but don't fit into currently - by my birthday. That is my goal. I KNOW I can do it! I know I can.

It's cold down here in Jamie's office, I think I am going to go upstairs shortly, and start preparing dinner. (That's if I can get up the stairs from the basement!)

I HATE COMPTUERS & QUARK XPRESS!

This morning the guy who will be renovating my bathroom woke me up earlier than he was expected. He was only expected by 9 am, and that's the time I had set my alarm for, but he was in and out before the clock even turned 8:45 am, so I did get a little bit of a head start on my day today.

I managed to accomplish A LOT of laundry today, however, even though I got my laundry folded, I didn't get a chance to put any of it away. That's a task for tomorrow after I get in from school. I have on my list of things to do: CLEAN OUT BEDROOM CLOSET (donate clothes I don't wear or don't fit - as there is too many articles invading my closet lately.

I spent a couple of hours (yeah, I kid you not) trying to figure out why Quark Xpress wouldn't install on my desktop. After a while I gave up and decided to try it out on my laptop just to see if the CD-Rom actually works, and it does, because it installed beautifully on my laptop. FUCK! So on the advice of my dad's technician (at my father's computer store company) I spent the ENTIRE evening backing up every single last file on my PC. While doing so, I used my laptop (which Jamie uses as his regular computer in our basement, as it's ten million times faster than his old laptop and since I don't use it daily, he has been borrowing it permanently). At least I had this as back up so I could work on my poster which has to be started by tomorrow. I came up with 4 different layout ideas, and we'll see where it takes me tomorrow after the teacher takes a look at it.

Quark was saying that a file couldn't be renamed during installation but would finalize installation as if it worked. Then you'd go to run the software and it would give a runtime error (which is a Windows Registry problem - needing my harddrive to be re-formatted and Windows re-installed).

Today I hate: Computers, Quark Xpress, Computers, Quark Xpress! I can keep repeating how I hate these - but I'm sure you catch my drift!

This afternoon I went to the gym for 2pm and had an hour work out with my trainer - Ryan. He also is training Jamie. He kicked the shit out of my today. I can barely walk down my stairs to the basement to collect the laundry. I am soooo sore, but that's a good thing, right? I feel confident about fitting back into a pair of jeans that I have yet to take the tags off (bought accidently in March of 2000 - 6 years ago!) and never were able to fit into them, as I bought the wrong size - but I am determined to get into them by my 25th birthday on June 16th, 2006. DETERMINED! This is going to be tough, but I think I can do it.

Plumber came after I got back from being out and there will be work to be done, next Wednesday. It's going to be 1 full day's of work (plumber's are expensive) but the work NEEDS to be done. MUST be done. Ugh.

My evening consisted of showering, making a small dinner for myself, cleaning up my PC and working on my project - oh and doing laundry. FUN FUN eh? I REALLY wanted to get over to the Montreal Knitting Meetup, but I just HAD to take care of my computer issues, and get my project done. Priority was that, unfortunately.

I am jonesing to knit/crochet/create. I haven't touched crochet in a couple of days and I'm dying to finish up my blanket.

I am definitely looking forward to the weekend at this rate! Friday night I'm crafting while Jamie plays poker, Saturday Jamie and I will pick out tiles for our bathroom and do house renovations that we can do ourselves (Jamie wants to install a shelf in the pantry in the kitchen) and Saturday night I'm babysitting so my parents can go out with their friends sans kids. Sunday sleep in and Sunday night family dinner at Jamie's grandmother's place. I swear, it'll be Monday before I know it!
