9 Years

Today is our 9th wedding anniversary. It’s amazing how quickly 9 years fly by. 9 years, 3 kids, 2 businesses and lots of love, healthy, and happiness (ok, and lots of yarn too – I had to throw that in there!) Here’s to 99 more!

8 Years

Today I celebrate 8 years of marriage. Feels like just yesterday but as well, feels like forever. 8 years, 3 beautiful children, life is busy yet fulfilled at the same time. Here’s to many many more years!

7 Years later, 3 handsome boys later, life is beautiful.

Labour day weekend Jamie and I went out of town to celebrate a friend’s wedding and we celebrated our anniversary as well.

Last weekend we celebrated my cousin’s wedding. September seems to be a good month for weddings, I couldn’t agree more. The letters of chai (“to Life") add up to 18 and for this reason, 18 is a spiritual number in Judaism. We chose the 18th of September as a good luck number for our wedding date. L’chaim!

6th Blogaversary

So, I have to admit. I forgot about my blogaversary until just now. 6 years! That's a long time to commit to something. I do admit, the reason why I forgot about my blogaversary is because life is crazy busy with 3 kids. Same reason why I don't blog daily anymore, like I did, when I started this blog. Anyhow, I can't believe it's been 6 years. Unfortunately, this year, I won't be having a blog bash for my blogaversary, like I've done a few years in a row in the past. I just simply don't have the time to plan anything right now. Though... maybe in the future, I'll have a surprise contest or something - so stay tuned. I'll see what I can put together - when life calms down a bit - if it ever does!

Here's to many more years! It's you, my readers, that keeps me blogging. So please, feel free to de-lurk yourself, leave a comment (And a method for me to answer you back (email address, ravelry ID, etc)) so I know you're out there! I do have my faithful commenters - but I am aware there are so many more people out there that follow my blog (according to my google reader stats, blog followers, etc...)

Wine

Saturday night while we were out for dinner one of my best friends, (I have 2 of them + Jamie, of course), sent me a text message letting me know there was a surprise outside on our front porch. When I got home, there was a huge gift bag, with a sweetly written card & 2 bottles of wine. Jamie had been on antibiotics since last Monday, so we are saving these bottles of wine for the weekend, he's now finally finished the antibiotics & we can enjoy this lovely gift. Best friends rock.

09.25.10 :: 27 weeks pregnant / 3rd Trimester

I'm 27 weeks pregnant today.
Officially in my 3rd trimester.
10 weeks to go to make my goal date.
I started to feel this week like my belly exploded in size.

Mr. Mack has been sporting a hat all week. He's just too cute in it.

Jamie decided a few days ago that he was buying a 2nd hand (in mint condition) air hockey table. The boys love playing on the one at my parents house. The look on Sean's face when we loaded it up into the car today was priceless. He turned to us and said "I guess I can take that off my birthday wish list now"... I almost died it was too cute. The boys played on it for a good solid 2 and a half hours this afternoon. They love it. As long as we don't start getting pool tables & pink pong tables as well, I'll be okay. These tables are huge. We did some re-arranging in the playroom, but it actually works out well how we placed it. Mack can stand on the couch to play and Sean has a stool. (They're still way too short). Hey, whatever works.

This evening we shipped the kids off to my parents house. They were supposed to sleep over there last weekend, but my mom had come down with tonsillitis. We finally got to go out for our anniversary dinner (our 5th wedding anniversary was last Saturday) and have a kid free night. We went into the city to our fave Italian restaurant. It was delicious as always.

I've been working more on the sample knit, however I'm finding it hard as I keep getting alapaca hairs up my nose. Not fun. Not really enjoying this project. But it's not for me, so I'm trekking along (and working on other stuff at the same time). I don't mind when a yarn has a bit of alpaca in it. But this yarn is 100% Alpaca.

So much to knit. So little time.

... this week I hope to tackle the nursery. It seems like this week is a bit more of a relaxed week, compared to all the stuff we had going on last week. I do have an OB apointment this week, must get my glucose (ick!) test done, and there's a family corn roast at the boys' daycare. Other than that, and some time put in at the office, I plan to get the nursery taken care of. Time's ticking.

09.18.10 :: 5 years // 26 weeks pregnant

5 years ago today I married the love of my life.
Five years, 2.5 kids, things couldn't be better.

Today I'm 26 weeks pregnant. I'm so close to being in my 3rd trimester officially. Though, because I am not going to give birth past 37 weeks, I kinda feel like I'm already in the last stretch. With only 11 weeks to go - I have to start organizing the nursery... it's crunch time! Too bad it takes me forever to do things because a) being very pregnant, b) not being able to bend, c) not being able to lift and d) being tired on top of it. Things just take forever for me lately.

And... I officially cannot see my feet when I'm standing straight.

This afternoon we took advantage of the gorgeous September weather and took a walk.

After our walk, we headed out for lunch to a local place I usually love. Today - not so much. The service was understaffed, my salad came with unwashed lettuce and we felt like we were rushed by the staff. Not fun today. Above is a picture after Mackenzie tried a lemon slice off my drink. Love the face.

The kids were supposed to go to my parents house tonight to sleep over and unfortunately my mother came down with tonsillitis, so our anniversary dinner plans got spoiled unfortunately. Jamie went out to get dinner and we ate at home. After the cranky kids (no naps today) went to bed, we watched She's Out of My League, which was really cute. I started a new knitting project while watching it - as I kind of need a tiny break from my sample knit, which is coming along as well. Details on my new project coming up shortly.

Today after work I met my sister for Mani/Pedis. During the pedicure I got to sit in a massage chair. Oh, it was soooo good. My neck really needed it!

I love getting my hands & toes painted, but I hate doing it myself, because, I suck at doing my other hand, and well frankly, I’m starting to not be be able to bend down and reach my feet anymore. I had a heck of a time shaving my legs the other day.

Our lovely toes! (We didn’t get the same color but a similar shade – mine’s more purple brown and Amy’s is more bronze brown).

And our French manicured nails. Love it!

This evening we went out for dinner with my in-laws to a local joint I hadn’t been to in forever. The kids meals came with dessert. Mack wouldn’t eat his meal, but the dessert, yeah, no problems there. The kid is obsessed with chocolate. He did eat food off everyone else’s plate though before dessert.

Tonight I watched the movie Kick-Ass with Jamie. It was funny. About super heroes! I worked on Zoe’s February Baby Sweater while watching. It’s coming along nicely. I LOVE the stitch pattern. I will take an updated photo of it over the weekend.

september twenty-six

Sean had swimming class first thing this morning. Today, we realized that one of Sean's friends from daycare was in his swim class. Though only a month older, this kid is in the class older than Sean due to space in the classrooms. It was actually Sean and his friend who recognized each other, otherwise, I would have had no idea....

After coming in from swimming class, I got the kids organized to spend the night at my sister's house. After getting them organized, I packed up the car (was leaving my car with the kids and my sister as well) and dropped them off there. Crossing my fingers that they don't cause too many problems at my sister's place for the night.

I headed back to my house, got my stuff organized for our night away. On our way to lunch, we ran a few errands, and then had lunch at our fave local greek joint. And then we headed up north.

We arrived at our destination late afternoon. It's a nice little area, about an hour from Montreal, give or take. We had a view of the lake from our room.

After we were settled into our room, we headed up to Jamie's family's country house to see the exact state that it was in. It hasn't really been used in the last few years, as it's slowly been falling apart. I would say for the first few years of our relationship Jamie and I used to spend not only Victoria Day and Labor Day weekend up at the country house, but numerous weekends during those two weekends all summer. Until the plumbing stopped functioning.. until it just started to fall apart. The home was owned my Jamie's late grandparents and now it was left to Jamie's mom, and her 2 brothers.

As you can see, to the left, the ceiling fell off.. and to the right, mold, which is ALL over the ceiling. What you see in the picture is not even half of the mold.

In the front facing the lake, the floor fell through right above the basement door. If someone realy wanted, they could pry it open and probably get into the house that way. Gross, but possible.

Windows were shot to pieces.

It's sad. Jamie used to spend time here every summer, Jewish Holidays, etc. He grew up coming here every summer throughout all of his childhood and some of his adulthood. The only way to fix this would be to tear it down and re-build, and because of new bylaws with zoning, that is not even possible. Maybe there is a loop hole with leaving one part of the foundation standing so it would pass, but we'd have to look into it. However, that's if we win the lottery. There are so many things we want to do in our own home first, before we'd even fix up the country house. Plus, it's not even ours right now to fix up. It still belongs to Jamie's mom & her 2 brothers.

So upsetting.

This is our room and our defective jacuzzi. Pissed about that one... tell you more about that in a few minutes. Jamie and I already said that we would never come back here again...

Got an update that my kids are good and had a good time today playing with some of my sister's friends kids. Apparently Sean has a thing for older girls!

Anyhow, on our way back to the room, we picked up some groceries at the local store, so we could have some cheese & crackers with our wine. We chilled for a bit, had wine, cheese & crackers and eventually got ready to go out for supper. We went to this really tiny Italian restaurant in the area, actually, it was the only Italian restaurant in the area. The food was decent, they actually had whole wheat pizza on the menu (impressed me!) and the service was not bad. It seemed to be family ran, including the wait staff.

After dinner we tried to use the jacuzzi back in our room, and it lasted for maybe 4 and a half minutes before stopping. We couldn't get it to work again. And of course, there was no one at the front desk any longer when we called. They were closed for the night. We only got this room because of the jacuzzi and now it doesn't work. They'll be hearing from us in the morning...!

So I stayed in the tub a little longer, but Jamie didn't care to be in there if the jets didn't work, and once I got out, we hung out and watched some tv for a bit. I am going to shut down and and go back and cuddle. After all, we're up north to celebrate our anniversary. Too bad it's too cold and we can't sit out on the patio... next year we'll have to go earlier in the season to celebrate our anniversary. Unfortunately this year, our anniversary happened to fall on a Jewish Holiday. (Actually, I think next year it does as well...)

september eighteen :: 4 year anniversary

Dropping off Sean this morning was brutal. He wanted to go to my parent's house "now". He didn't want to wait until dinner - since it's Rosh Hashanah. He wanted to go at 9 am. I'm still trying to work on "time" with him, but he is still not understanding the difference between 5 minutes and an hour.

This morning I had breakfast with my friend Dara and her son, Mack's best friend. Dara thought I was coming alone, but I surprised her by taking Mack to daycare late that morning. Breakfast was delicious, and I tried a Spelt Crêpe for the first time.

I worked this afternoon, and got a lot of things accomplished. My office is starting to get cleaned up, and a lot of things are getting out to where they belong. Once I'm on top of everything in my office, things will go a lot more smoothly. Almost there. While at work today I booked a little getaway for Jamie & I for our anniversary. I'm very excited to get away for a little bit. It'll be nice. Today, is our actual anniversary, we were married 4 years ago.

Tonight we went over to my parents house for Rosh Hashanah dinner. We celebrated with my entire family which was nice. We even had a nice anniversary cake from my parents.

The boys helped us blow out the candle. Mack was super fascinated by the flame! We actually left the boys over at my parents house (Mack went to bed before we were even done dessert) and had a quiet evening at home after we left my parents house. Opened up a bottle of wine, watched some tv and just relaxed. It was nice. Exactly what we needed/wanted.

Mack this evening was walking all over my parents basement. I think the crawling days are over. In a matter of time, he'll be running. It's over!

Tonight at my parents house Sean sold his first few chocolates for his fundraiser for school. We took one case (50 bars) we'll see how long it'll take to sell them. Last year they used the money from the sales to buy more books for the library but this year, I don't know what they will be using it for.

Tonight we had stopped by the Pharmacy on the way home from my parents house to pick up a prescription and since Jamie didn't want to be empty handed he got me a gift card to Chapters (have to decide what books I want now!) and a cute pair of earrings that I was looking at while he picked up his prescription. That was really nice of him, he really shouldn't have. He already paid of the difference on my Nikon D60 (difference from what I sold my Canon Rebel for). I really didn't need anything more. Thanks hun!

august twenty-one

This morning I was actually 8:30 am at an eyebrow wax appointment. I cannot believe how early I was actually there, and Sean was dropped off at daycare that early as well. The first time he's been at daycare that early in.... all summer. It's kind of been a slack summer in that department (getting organize in the morning <-- I'm still trying to figure out how to get organized and out of the house with 2 young kids. It really baffles me how people can get places on time with young children). I got an email this morning from my order with The Loopy Ewe for the 9" Hiya circular needles. They had put 20$ as an estimate on shipping last night when I ordered. Apparently it's the policy, just in case. However, if it was cheaper, they'd only charge me for the correct amount of shipping. No problem, understood. I was praying all last night that it wouldn't cost me 20$ to ship 7.50$ needles, as they could go lettermail, as they're that tiny. I got an email this morning, that it would be 1.75$ for shipping. Ahh, that's better. If it would have cost me 20$ for shipping, I would have cancelled the order, and found another place to order them from. Sometimes it's just insane to order from the USA, for their shipping charges, but then again, I look at what Canada Post charges, and it's just as insane.

I may have a seller for my Canon Rebel XT that I'm selling. I'm super happy about that. Jamie won't let me order my new one (not sure which one that is yet) until my Canon is sold, out of the house and money in my hands for it. The difference between my sold camera and my new camera will be part of his 4th wedding anniversary to me. Our 4th anniversary is this September (coming up quickly let me tell you - and I have NO idea what to get him. I even asked him what he wants, if there's anything... and he couldn't come up with any ideas). 4th wedding anniversary presents are tradionally Linen & Silk (interesting if you ask me...) I love the the 7th is Wool! 3 more years to go for that one! Anyhow, I know my camera has nothing to do with Linen or Silk, but modern gifts on that list on the link I just showed you is (electrical) appliances. I suppose a camera could be an electrical appliance? Close enough.

While Mack napped, my mother came over to pick out some yarn for my grandmother for her birthday. She's been knitting scarves (fun fur only lately) and crocheting baby blankets so my mother wanted to give her some better yarn than fun fur. Even the thought of fun fur just makes me ill.

When my mom left, my friend Dara came over with her son for lunch we picked out vegetables from my garden including this humongous cucumber was among the items picked. We had a lovely lunch from my garden, and it was super delicious. There really isn't anythnig better than a fresh salad from the garden. Nothing compares. Dara agrees. The salad was 100% from the garden. Nothing store bought at all.

Dara and her son hung out until it was time for Mack to take a nap (and her son needed one as well). I'm sure we'll see them again soon, if not sooner (because the next couple of weeks are crazy busy), we're taking a class together in the fall. Even though Mack's starting daycare shortly, I still wanted to take a class with him. I'll also be registering both boys from swimming lessons, hopefully on two different mornings during the week.

While Mack napped I hung out on my bedroom balcony while Mack napped. This was the first time in a long time that Mack's taken 2 naps in one day. I'm certainly not complaining.

After Mack's nap we went to the post office and then to pick up Sean from daycare. Jamie brought home pasta from our fave italian place not far from our house (I love their whole wheat vongoli dish).

This evening, I caught Mack standing up from sitting position, without holding onto anything to stand up. It's quite an accomplishment for him:

He's one step closer to walking.

This evening after the kids went to bed Jamie and I caught up on the new series Hung. We're liking this new comedy. It's very dark comedy though, not slapstick comedy. I worked on my new test knit for my own design this evening, making progress on that!
