teamstretch

Sean started soccer this morning. He’s on the purple team, The Bubblegum Team. They started out this morning with some stretches. They look so cute in their oversized jerseys (which I tried shrinking in the laundry today, but no luck, the jersey just won’t shrink).

seanjamiesoccer
They did some warm ups kicking the ball to one parent.
(Jamie went up while I stayed on the sidelines with Mack).

seanscoring
They practiced scoring on the net.
Sean’s a pro.
Really.
kickingballaction
Action kicking photo. I love it.

Then it came down to game time. They were playing the blue team.
Not sure what the blue team was called. I think maybe the Gumdrops.
They were split into 2 teams of 5. (11 kids on the team, 10 were there today).
When Sean’s BFF Zachary was on first,
and was time for Sean to go up, they wanted to play together.
So cute. I’m going to ask the coach next time if they be on the same scrimmage team.

seangettingcontrol
When Sean’s turn was happening, Sean scored for his team.
You can see him in purple in control of the ball!

macksoccerball
Luckily we managed to find a soccer ball to entertain Mack on the sidelines. All Mack wanted was to go play on the field with Sean. He won’t even be able to play for 2 more summers. This year it’s the 2006 babies the youngest level, next year 2007 then the year after will be 2008 (Mack was born June 2008).
soccermack

Though, he was a good sport.

seansoccerpop
The team got popsicles after the game. Every kid is on popsicle duty for one game. We’re on duty July 3rd. Popsicles or freezies? Hmmm....

Sean & Zach enjoying a popsicle after the game.

This afternoon while Mack napped…
Sean & I went outside during a brief period of sunshine to make a mess.

coolpileofbubbles

Oh, Bubbles are so much fun!

bubblezhanny funbubbles
And this Handy Manny tool is really neat too.

hammerbubbles largebubblehammer
Sean was able to make large bubbles as well as small ones.

pileohbubbles

We had a fun time making a mess.
That’s what summer is all about!

startvestee
Last night I started a new project. I need a quick project for my finishing class with Mona Schmidt. It needs to be done by June 16, 2010, the final class. I started a baby vest, as it’s probably the only reasonable thing I could knit in such a short period of time, for the class. I’m making the long sleeved version. I am loving a) how fast it’s knitting up and b) the stitch pattern. So far, so good. Will keep you up to date on my progress. It’s a really nice teal shade of Cascade 220 Superwash, with a hint of a heather to it. I like the colorway. I’ve already finished the first part of the back and now I’m working on the first part of the front. Someone on Ravelry finished one in 6 days, so I’m hoping that my week and a half that I have left to work on it, is enough time.

Today’s Link Love:
- I wanted to get this PDF to knit, but someone beat me to it. I’ll have to wait until she relists it. I want to knit a wonky jellyfish!
- Can’t believe this guy is knitting 7 socks on one circular needle. Is he insane??
- I want this lens. Hoping I can get it as a birthday/anniversary gift this year. Crossing my fingers. The lens I’m shooting with now, is 18-55mm and not acceptable for the soccer field! Must get a longer zoom!

Today’s Link Hate:
- Just the other day I picked up the cat glass for my friend since I happened to be at a Mcdonalds that had one. She’s collecting them and now is only missing the Shrek glass. (There’s Fiona, Shrek, The Cat & The Donkey). Well, what do you know, the glasses were recalled. She’s pissed. At least she can still look at them. Just not drink out of them.

ps- Just a reminder that I'm throwing a contest for this entire month! Details are here.

05.03.10 :: 174 weeks old

174wksS
Sean is 174 weeks old today.

Sean had a rough week at swimming last week while I was out of town. My mom had mentioned he freaked out last week when she took him as his swimming lesson was all upside down. His teacher was writing an exam, so he had a sub. Also, there was an accident in the “kid” pool (smaller pool at the civic center), and they had to flush the pool water and re-fill up the pool. So, not only was there a new teacher, but it was in a completely different pool with a bunch of older women doing aquafit. Sean wasn’t too happy. This week, even though he was back in the regular pool, with his regular teacher, he freaked out. It took a good 10-15 minutes of his half hour lesson to get him comfortable again. (He’s not afraid of the water at all, so I don’t understand what happened). But by the end of the class he was swimming comfortably with his teacher and also under water alone.

firstbikeofseason

Today I set up my bike (attached the buggy, rode it over to the closest gas station to pump the tires with more air) and then picked up the boys from daycare. It was my first bike ride of the season. Let me tell you, I have absolutely NO idea how I managed to get there & home. (We made a pit stop on the way home to visit a friend that lives on our route home). I used muscles in my legs that have been dormant since last summer. Oh my, I forgot how out of shape I am. I made it home though, and the next time hopefully will get easier.

buttonbuttonpin
Today I’d like to show you the 2 shawl pins I got while I was in British Columbia. The one above I got at Button Button. I love that it’s clear, it’ll match anything/any color.

chilliwackwoolpin
The second one, above, is a wood one, that I got at Chilliwack Wool & Craft. It’s a lovely two-tone wood. I absolutely love it. I like that the shawl stick goes through the heart, and doesn’t sit on top of it, like the clear/frosted one above from Button Button. A knitter can’t ever have too many shawl sticks/pins.

In case you’re curious to what knitted garment my shawl pins are on, it’s my Misty Garden scarf.

I started a new book the other night (2 nights ago), called The Yoga Mamas. I tried starting it on my trip to BC, but Mack was more interested in grabbing my book whenever I tried reading it. I didn’t get a chance to read at all during my trip (too busy crafting/exploring/sightseeing/yarn shop crawling). I had even brought 2 books with me, what on earth was I thinking? And then Bea gave me 6 more books in our book swap. Well, I’m home now, trying to get back into the swing of things, including reading. I want to out read the amount of books that I read in 2008 & 2009 together, this year. I think I can do it. I have a list of books that I read last year and the year before, so I just need to figure out how many I read both years to figure out how many more I need to read this year to beat that. It’s a personal goal, and I think it’s totally obtainable.

Today’s Link Love:
- Love this Yoda Tutorial (Crochet).
- Love this canvas.
- Love this Funky Necklace.
- Love this necklace too.
- Love this image.
- Love this Neat tutorial to make felted sand dollars.
- Love this great image.
- Love these shoes that I got in Florida back in January and can actually wear them out now!
- And now I love the shorter version of them.
- I wish I wore heels, these are super cute.

flora
I’m loving spring. I love the smell of the flowers. So refreshing. These flowers weren’t in bloom yesterday. Today :: Full bloom. I can’t believe how fast they all just opened up!

blossom
I love being surrounded by spring!

Today I did last minute laundry. There were a few pieces of clothing I wanted to make sure I had for my trip, as well as make sure that all of Jamie’s & Sean’s laundry was done (and put away – I’m very proud of myself for being 150% on top of that recently!) before I left. I wanted them to NOT worry about the laundry while I am out of town. Triple checked my packing list. Removed things from my suitcase. Added other things to my suitcase. Hoped I didn’t forget anything. I leave tomorrow for one week, with Mack. Sean’s staying home with Daddy, and hanging out with my parents & his Auntie Amy too this weekend. Hopefully he won’t even notice too much that I’m gone. My suitcases are just just under the weight limit. I’m allowed 2 checked bags but Mack none because he’s flying for free, so I have to be careful with the way I’m packing. Making sure that everything is in there! And whatever I forget, if I do, there are stores where I’m going, so I’m not worried.

Eugenie stopped by to drop something off, and ended up coming in for Milk & Cookies. It was a lovely to see her. It’s always nice to have people visit during the week!

I’m very excited today about my trip. I don’t know how well I’ll sleep tonight. I have 36 pages left in Spin, and I’m going to go finish it now. Still haven’t decided on what book I want to read on my trip, but I’ll pick one out tomorrow morning, hopefully it’ll be the right choice.

I will have internet while I’m in BC, so I will be checking my emails (gmail only) and I will be blogging! You’ll get to see what trouble Bea, Cyn, Mack & I cause!

Very.darn.excited.

Might.not.sleep. (Well, I eventually will… LOL)

04.19.10 :: 172 weeks old

172weeksS

Sean is 172 weeks old today.

kidsandmonkeynap

I caught my boys in a nice moment today, “napping” together. They were making sure that Monkey was taking a nap. So cute. I love it. Sometimes they are so sweet with each other. (When they’re not sitting on each other that is).

springblooms
I love the sight (and smell) of spring. Flowers are blossoming in my garden!

babettev2
I started a new project today (cuz I can’t be monogamous of course). I started version 2 of Babette. The first Babette I’m making is solid/semi-solid/tonal yarn bits, and this one will be multi-colored. I think it’ll be fun!

sidesocksJ

I’ve also made great progress on Jamie’s socks. It’s coming along!

backsockJ

I hope he likes them!

Today’s Faves:

- This image.
- This image.
- This image/flowers.
- I have a fear of balloons, but love this image.
- Can’t wait to go here. Thanks to my sister for the early birthday present of a gift certificate!
- I've got less than 80 pages left in Spin.
- I finally went through my PVR and went from 113 episodes behind on Oprah to 56. Some of them were repeats. Some of them I'd actually watched. Some of them I don't care for. I can't wait to finally finish catching up on Oprah. It'll be a while though. Thankfully it's in the last season, so I can't stay too far behind forever, right?

Today's Hates:

- The Habs lost badly to Washington tonight. The Capitols now lead the series 2-1. Bah!

04.14.10 :: 95 weeks old

94wksM
Mack is 95 weeks old today.
sightofbloom
Took the boys outside to play once they got home from daycare. Ahh, spring!

seanflyer
Sean’s obsessed with his Flyer Trike.
Mack was actually freaking out that he couldn’t ride it (as Sean was on it).
I have to find where I put the Rock and Ride Mack got for his 1st birthday,
so that he can ride it outside along side Sean.
seanmackslide
I love this photo. I caught Sean in the air, jumping off the slide.

tellmeasecret
”Daddy, come sit here next to me, I want to tell you a secret”
forbabettefromblank
The Sock Yarn Blanket is frogged. It’s no more. I just couldn’t. I didn’t have it in me to spend another 44 + hours on just the squares I’d need to “square it off” and then do all the triangles to square the edges so that I could line the back. (No way was I weaving in all those ends). The balls above will go to my variegated Babette (version 2).

forgarbage
And these bits above, went into the garbage. (Crappy yarns I really didn’t like the feel of, or the color).
jamiesox

Tonight I went out with some friends. I worked a bit on Jamie’s socks, and then more on Babette. They’re both coming along nicely. Babette (v.1) now has 78 squares. Jamie’s socks are adding in length. (He likes them tall on his legs, especially in winter).

Alright, going to go hop into bed and read some more in Spin. It’s really good! I want to finish this book in time for my trip to Vancouver so that I can start a fresh book on the plane, and not have to take a book I’m almost done. I think I can finish it before I leave. (That’s what I’m hoping anyhow!)

smileymack

Mack’s been wearing his hat sideways and going around saying “Cool Dude”. I think his brother taught him that!

aroundthecircle

Sean’s been loving riding his tricycle around the circle we live in.
Mack’s a little upset he couldn’t go too.
I *think* I have a trike for him to ride as well.
(Must find where that box is).

chalkpinkblue

We played with chalk in the driveway today. Ahhh, I love spring.

bothkidscolor
This is the best activity ever. I love it. Keeps them entertained for a while & the mess is contained outside (no inside clean-up) and they get fresh air. Can’t ask for anything better!

Sean loves drawing happy faces. He just learned how.

The contractors seem to be doing their work on time, and I think they’ll be out of my hair by the weekend. I like this. Not too much else going on around here, getting stuff organized, keeping up with the spring cleaning, trying to organize plans for Mackenzie’s 2nd birthday, knocking stuff off my to-do list including wrapping 3 birthday gifts for 3 upcoming birthday parties, so that I’m not scrounging around the morning of the party (or an hour before) trying to wrap the gift to find out I don’t have what I need to wrap it). Feels good to cross stuff off your to-do list. Ahhhh! Yes.

Off to go crawl into bed & continue reading as much Spin as I can before I fall asleep.
